I'm not sure how traditional pet owners are treated, but there is a door for cat owners and a door for dog owners when you go in. I presume to not stress out the cats by being harassed by dogs. Thats great! We took our rats in to be neutered, only to find that it was over $200 per rat to have the procedure done, not including antiobiotics and they wouldnt give them any pain meds. We passed on that. I'd rather drive to Indy. They also didn't see an issue letting their office cat walk over to the cage and stare down our rats who were already terrified. For a clinic who presumably wants your cats to feel safe away from dogs, they seemingly don't care if their cat harasses other smaller pets.

Honey Creek Animal Hospital Introduce
Honey Creek Animal Hospital, located at 3263 S 3rd Pl, Terre Haute, IN 47802, USA, serves the local community as a Pet Hospital providing veterinary care for a variety of animals. Customer reviews offer insights into the environment, services, and perceived strengths and weaknesses of this practice. While experiences vary, certain aspects like the caring nature of a particular veterinarian and the friendliness of the staff are highlighted, alongside some concerns regarding specific service costs and the handling of different animal species within the clinic.
One notable feature of Honey Creek Animal Hospital, as mentioned in a review, is its physical layout designed to reduce stress between cats and dogs. The presence of separate entrances for cat and dog owners suggests a thoughtful approach to creating a more comfortable environment for feline patients who might be anxious around canines. This segregation in the initial entry could contribute to a calmer experience for cats visiting the clinic, aligning with a desire to minimize stress for these animals.
However, the same review raises concerns regarding the care and cost of services for exotic pets. The experience of seeking neutering for rats revealed a significantly high cost per animal, exceeding $200 per rat and not including antibiotics or pain medication. This led the pet owner to seek alternative options elsewhere. Additionally, this reviewer expressed unease about the clinic's office cat interacting with their caged and reportedly terrified rats. This observation suggests a potential oversight in ensuring the comfort and safety of all types of animals within the clinic, even while attempting to create a stress-free environment for cats away from dogs.
In contrast, another review offers high praise for Dr. Shaub and the care provided to a seriously ill 14-year-old dog named Gus Pruett. Gus was suffering from a heart and lung problem, and his owner was understandably worried. Dr. Shaub's thorough examination, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment plan were credited with stabilizing Gus and enabling him to return to his прежнее состояние. The owner expressed profound gratitude, stating that Dr. Shaub "saved Gus" and described him as a caring and excellent veterinarian, head and shoulders above others they had visited. This testimonial highlights the expertise and compassionate approach of at least one of the veterinarians at Honey Creek Animal Hospital in handling critical health issues in pets.
Further positive feedback from the same reviewer extends to the staff, who are described as knowledgeable and very friendly, creating an atmosphere that feels like family. This suggests that beyond the medical expertise, the client experience is enhanced by a warm and welcoming team. The strong recommendation from this pet owner underscores the positive impact of Dr. Shaub and the staff on their experience at Honey Creek Animal Hospital.
Considering the two reviews, the environment of Honey Creek Animal Hospital appears to have both positive and potentially concerning aspects. The dedicated entrances for cats and dogs indicate an effort to create a less stressful atmosphere for felines. However, the interaction between the office cat and other small, potentially vulnerable pets raises questions about the overall consideration for the well-being of all species visiting the clinic. The positive review emphasizes a caring and knowledgeable staff, contributing to a familial atmosphere for some clients.
The services offered by Honey Creek Animal Hospital likely encompass a range of general veterinary care, including diagnostics (as evidenced by the mention of tests for Gus), treatment for illnesses and injuries, and surgical procedures (as indicated by the neutering inquiry for rats). The successful stabilization and treatment of a dog with a serious heart and lung condition suggest competence in managing complex medical cases. However, the high cost and lack of comprehensive care (including pain medication) for exotic pet neutering may indicate limitations or different pricing structures for non-traditional pets.
Features of Honey Creek Animal Hospital include the separate entrances for cat and dog owners, a potentially knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the presence of at least one highly regarded veterinarian, Dr. Shaub, known for his caring approach and diagnostic skills. A potential area for improvement, based on the reviews, might be the handling and pricing of services for exotic pets and ensuring a safe and stress-free environment for all animals within the clinic, regardless of species.

In conclusion, Honey Creek Animal Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. The clinic offers a thoughtful feature with separate entrances for cats and dogs, and at least one veterinarian, Dr. Shaub, is highly praised for his expertise and compassionate care, particularly in serious medical situations. The staff is also described as knowledgeable and friendly, contributing to a positive experience for some pet owners. However, there are concerns regarding the high cost and perceived lack of comprehensive care for exotic pet neutering, as well as potential issues with the interaction between the office cat and other small animals. Local users should weigh these points and may want to contact the clinic directly to inquire about their specific needs, pricing policies, and the range of services offered for their particular type of pet.

Jan 24, 2025 · Tabatha FlinnMy dog Gus Pruett was ill with a heart and lung problem. Very serious. Gus is 14 years old. I was worried and upset that there would be nothing Dr. Shaub could do. Dr. Shaub examined him and told me exactly what was wrong. I ask what can be done? He said he was going to run tests. He told me and my girlfriend to come back in about an hour. We were terrified. We returned in an hour. Dr. Shaub's diagnosis was correct and the tests on his blood was good. He had fluid on his lungs and a heart disorder. Dr. Shaub had my dog stabilized and ready to go home with meds. My dog is back to his old self. I will always be grateful. He saved Gus. He is a caring and an excellent veterinarian. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Just like family. I would highly recommend this veterinarian. He is head and shoulders above any other Vets I had been too. Forever grateful for Dr. Shaub Thank you Mike and Gus.
