After spending thousands of dollars on traditional vets, I met Dr Lankenau and she saved my cats life. She is always quick to respond, genuinely cares for the animals and their owners and will do anything she can to improve your pets life. I would recommend her to anyone. I can't imagine a better vet.

Welcome to Holistic Center For Veterinary Care

The Holistic Center For Veterinary Care, located at 9002 Sunset Dr, Colden, NY 14033, USA, stands as a distinguished establishment in the "Pet Hospital" category. This center is renowned for its unique and comprehensive approach to animal well-being, moving beyond conventional veterinary practices to embrace a wide array of holistic and integrative therapies. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Cynthia Lankenau, the center is dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate care that addresses the whole animal, aiming to improve overall health and quality of life for pets.

Environment and Philosophy

The philosophy at Holistic Center For Veterinary Care is deeply rooted in treating the animal as a complete system, rather than focusing solely on isolated symptoms. This means considering various aspects of a pet's life, including their nutrition, emotional state, and environment, alongside their physical health. Client testimonials often highlight the calming and comforting atmosphere of the clinic, with one reviewer noting that the clinic "feels like you're sitting in a living room and Layla actually loves to go to the vet :-)." This relaxed setting is particularly beneficial for pets, helping to reduce stress and create a more positive experience during their visits. Dr. Lankenau's approach is described as patient, respectful, calming, and understanding, fostering a genuine connection with both the pet and their owner. This emphasis on a holistic viewpoint and a soothing environment is a cornerstone of the center's appeal, setting it apart from more traditional veterinary clinics.

Services Offered

The Holistic Center For Veterinary Care offers an extensive range of services, primarily focusing on alternative and complementary therapies that work in conjunction with, or sometimes as an alternative to, conventional medicine. Dr. Lankenau is highly trained and experienced in numerous modalities, offering a rich toolkit for various health challenges. Key services include:

  • Acupuncture: As a certified practitioner through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), Dr. Lankenau uses acupuncture to address a wide range of conditions, from pain management and mobility issues to internal organ imbalances. Clients have reported significant improvements in their pets' conditions, including increased activity and reduced discomfort.

  • Chinese Herbs and Western Herbs: The center utilizes both traditional Chinese herbal medicine and Western herbal remedies. These botanical treatments are carefully selected and tailored to each pet's specific needs, aiming to support the body's natural healing processes and restore balance. Dr. Lankenau has extensive training in herbology and is a Registered Professional Herbalist (RH) through the American Herbal Guild.

  • Homeopathy: Dr. Lankenau is certified in veterinary homeopathy by the Academy of Veterinary Homeopaths (AVH). Homeopathic treatments involve using highly diluted substances to stimulate the body's self-healing mechanisms, often proving effective for chronic conditions where conventional treatments may fall short.

  • Clinical Nutrition: A vital component of holistic care, clinical nutrition focuses on optimizing a pet's diet to support their overall health and address specific health concerns. This can involve recommendations for raw food diets or specialized nutritional plans to manage allergies, digestive issues, or other conditions.

  • Glandular Therapy: This involves the use of animal glandular extracts to support the function of specific organs and endocrine glands, promoting balance within the body.

  • Chiropractic: Dr. Lankenau is certified in animal chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA), offering spinal adjustments to improve musculoskeletal health and nerve function.

  • Reiki and Homotoxicology: These additional modalities further expand the center's integrative offerings, providing energetic healing and detoxification support.

Features and Unique Selling Points

One of the most striking features of Holistic Center For Veterinary Care is Dr. Lankenau's extensive training and commitment to continuous learning. With a DVM from Cornell University and decades of experience, she has diligently pursued advanced certifications in various holistic modalities, including IVAS for acupuncture, AVCA for chiropractic, and AVH for homeopathy. Her background also includes serving as a veterinary officer in the Peace Corps and working in both dairy and mixed animal practices before establishing her exclusively alternative medicine practice. This breadth of knowledge allows her to offer a truly integrated approach, drawing from a diverse range of healing traditions.

The center’s focus on individualized care is another significant feature. Unlike practices that might follow a standardized protocol, Dr. Lankenau's approach is highly tailored, considering the unique history, personality, and current state of each animal. This deep level of customization is frequently praised by clients, who feel that their pets receive truly compassionate and effective care that addresses their specific needs. Testimonials consistently highlight Dr. Lankenau's genuine care for animals and their owners, and her willingness to go above and beyond to improve a pet's life. This personal connection and dedication have resulted in remarkable outcomes, often in cases where traditional veterinary medicine had limited success.

The success stories emanating from the Holistic Center For Veterinary Care are a testament to its effectiveness. Clients share experiences of pets regaining vitality, overcoming chronic illnesses, and achieving a significantly improved quality of life. For example, some pets who were given limited time due to severe conditions have experienced years of extended, comfortable life under Dr. Lankenau's holistic care. The emphasis on natural remedies and minimizing pharmaceutical drugs is a significant draw for many pet owners seeking gentler, yet powerful, solutions for their companions.

Dr. Cindy treated my horse and did a phenomenal job. She is so knowledgeable, kind, caring and explained everything step by step when she was treating him and especially when she diagnosing him. Can't wait for her to come back for a recheck.
