I’ve been using Dr Tucker for about 15 years now. I had used another vet clinic bc a veterinarian I adore ( still) had moved but when she moved out of my area I came back . I had an xl labrador, Sherlock - he weighed 120 lbs (so was a big dog and I am 62 years old ) He had all kinds of issues the last 15 months of his life - I drive a Tacoma and had the heavy xxl ramp to help him get out of the truck , but at the other Vets office ( I had followed ) I would call from 2-3 min away to say I needed help ( with the huge ramp ) to get him out , we were there almost every week so this was a constant issue . I am old ( 62) and this sweet guy LOVED the vet ! So when I parked he would star hopping waiting to get out - if I opened my door he would have injured himself or me trying to catch him - so this is why the last 2 months I continued to CALL To ask they meet me outside -& almost EVERY visit no one would be there!! I still had to walk inside ( they could see my truck parked in front of the glass) while my old stressed out sweet dog was whining waiting to see them - it irritated me beyond belief , bc I continued to try to hope it was “ just this time “ This was not my beloved Dr.s fault , but the office apparently didn’t care enough . I was getting fed up but still didn’t want to lose my vet . But on May 9 when he had a bad turn & I realized it was time to say goodbye - My vet happened to be on her vacation so I called Dr Tucker who had been my vet for years ( before this move I made )he was just INCREDIBLY kind and helped my sweet Sherlock ( almost 9 years old then ) and I said goodbye in the same room I took him in 2015 for his 1st vet visit w Dr Davies ( since retired ) it was heartbreaking and also very sweet to think I said hello and goodbye in the same place , mostly tho Sherlock knew every single employee at Hoke and loved these people , he was completely happy here . I only mention this thing about the help bc maybe another vet clinic needs reminding that senior dogs and senior people deserve the extra help especially when they’re spending thousands w you ! ( monthly Librela and cytopoint injections aren’t cheap on a xxl dog!) I had already been going to Hoke to do my 4 dogs nail clips bi weekly etc ,I was happy to be back “ home” at Hoke again . The office staff ALL are just incredible and go above and beyond to help you & they have become like family over the years . Just last month., my sweet Greta ( 7 yr old ) had oral surgery & Dr Tucker handled 2 weeks ago . He is a good Dr , a great surgeon and even better human . You cannot go wrong w this place or green springs animal clinic ( Dr Tucker owns both ) . The prices are better here too. I’ve never had to beg anyone to help me w my dogs either! My dogs love it here -so that’s the real test anyway . ( btw the vet tech Aaron is fantastic and does my dogs nail clips - my grand dog used to be afraid of the vet , but since I have taken her to Aaron to clip , she’s fallen in love with him like my dogs!

Hoke Animal Clinic, located at 1559 Cooper Hill Rd, Birmingham, AL 35210, USA, has garnered a reputation for its dedicated team, including Dr. Tucker and Dr. Linder, and the exceptional care they provide to their animal patients. Based on the heartfelt testimonials from local pet owners, Hoke Animal Clinic stands out as a place where pets are treated with love and respect, and owners feel supported and valued.

As a "Pet Hospital," Hoke Animal Clinic offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services to address the diverse health needs of pets. While a complete list of services isn't explicitly detailed, the experiences shared by customers indicate that the clinic provides routine wellness exams, vaccinations, treatment for illnesses, surgical procedures (as mentioned with Dr. Tucker's oral surgery expertise), and potentially specialized treatments like injections for chronic conditions (Librela and Cytopoint). The fact that a long-term client returned to Hoke Animal Clinic after a period at another clinic speaks volumes about the trust and confidence placed in their services.

One of the most striking aspects highlighted in the reviews is the exceptional care and compassion demonstrated by the entire staff at Hoke Animal Clinic. The recurring theme is that the staff "go above and beyond" to help pet owners and have become "like family" over the years. This suggests a clinic environment that is not only professional but also deeply personal and supportive. The willingness to provide extra assistance, even with challenges like maneuvering a large and mobility-impaired dog, underscores their commitment to client comfort and pet well-being.

Dr. Tucker, in particular, receives high praise for his skill, compassion, and dedication. Described as a "good Dr, a great surgeon and even better human," Dr. Tucker has earned the trust and gratitude of long-term clients. His expertise in handling surgical procedures, as well as his general care and demeanor, make him a highly valued member of the Hoke Animal Clinic team. The fact that he also owns Green Springs Animal Clinic and that clients recommend both locations further attests to his commitment to providing quality veterinary care across the board.

Dr. Linder is also mentioned positively, described as "very nice and compassionate." This reinforces the overall impression of a caring and empathetic team at Hoke Animal Clinic. The emphasis on compassion from multiple veterinarians within the clinic suggests a strong commitment to treating pets with kindness and understanding, which can significantly ease the stress often associated with veterinary visits for both animals and their owners.

The positive experiences shared by pet owners extend beyond the veterinarians to the entire office staff. They are described as "incredible" and always willing to help. This cohesive and supportive team environment likely contributes to the positive and reassuring experience that clients have at Hoke Animal Clinic. Knowing that both the medical and administrative staff are caring and helpful can make a significant difference in a pet owner's overall satisfaction with the clinic.

One of the unique features implicitly highlighted in the detailed review is the clinic's understanding and accommodation of the needs of senior pets and their owners. The reviewer's experience with their large, aging Labrador and the challenges of transportation and mobility underscores the importance of a veterinary clinic being sensitive to such situations. While there was a past issue with consistent assistance at a different clinic, the reviewer's return to Hoke Animal Clinic and the positive experiences thereafter suggest that Hoke Animal Clinic is more attuned to providing necessary support for senior pets and their owners.

Another noteworthy feature mentioned is the availability of nail clipping services performed by the vet tech, Aaron, who is described as "fantastic." The positive impact Aaron has had on a previously fearful grand dog highlights the skill and gentle approach of the veterinary technicians at Hoke Animal Clinic. This seemingly small service can be a significant benefit for pet owners who struggle with at-home nail trims and appreciate a trusted professional who can make the experience positive for their pets.

The reviewer also mentions that the prices at Hoke Animal Clinic are better compared to their previous clinic. While specific pricing details are not provided, this feedback suggests that Hoke Animal Clinic offers competitive rates for their services, which can be an important consideration for pet owners managing ongoing healthcare costs, especially for chronic conditions requiring regular treatments like Librela and Cytopoint injections.

The ultimate testament to the quality of care at Hoke Animal Clinic is the fact that "My dogs love it here." As the reviewer aptly points out, this is the "real test." A pet's comfort and positive demeanor during veterinary visits speak volumes about the way they are treated and the environment of the clinic. The fact that the reviewer's dogs are happy to go to Hoke Animal Clinic indicates a welcoming and non-threatening atmosphere.

Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Dr Linder helped us with my Maxie!!! She’s very nice and compassionate. 🥰 I go to Green Springs Animal Clinic (their other clinic) and I would recommend both places.

This clinic was the reason our poor cat was misdiagnosed and had to have unexpected surgery. After taking our cat who had been bleeding to Hoke, we were told to leave him so they could get a urine sample and diagnose him as they suspected him to have a UTI. After a few hours they called and told us he was aggressive and was growling at the veterinarians as well as, he was too “anxious” to urinate. After we go to pick him up, we were instructed to take an at home collection kit and bring a sample the following day. When we were about to pay our bill, we were told they were able to get a urine sample from him. They allegedly gave him a steroid shot and sent us on our way with a 10 day antibiotic to administer. After getting our kitty home we noticed he was still literally dripping blood from his bladder all over the room we had him in. Out of concern I called back and asked if he was going to be okay for the night and if any further action needed to be taken. The receptionist on the phone had stated numerous times “we won’t know anything until we get the urinalysis back in the morning”. Later on we noticed that he was attempting to urinate and nothing except drops of blood would come out. In fear of the worst I called another Veterinarian Clinic and explained what was going on with our feline. They immediately expressed deep concern and advised we brought him in as the symptoms sounded like a blockage in his bladder. After taking him to the other clinic, within 15 minutes of seeing our cat and palpitating him, the Dr came in and told us that his bladder was full of crystals and I quote “could not fit any more crystals in there”. They flushed his bladder with a catheter and were unsuccessful in getting all of the crystals out, resulting in the need for surgery. Which is going to cost over $1600 on top of the $254 Hoke charged for nothing. Had we listened to what we were told by Dr.Linder at the Hoke clinic. Leaving him alone over night could have caused our kitty to die. After receiving a phone call back about the results, we were told he had a UTI and “some protein in his bladder”. After conversing back and forth about the measures taken for our cat at another clinic, we were told “that explains all of the blood” as well as reminded numerous times that he was “Temperamental and moody”. Not too long after, we were hung up on. At no point was there any sympathy or reassurance and were made to feel felt as if our cat was the reason for his misdiagnosis. Do yourself and your precious pets a favor and DO NOT take your animals here as they like your money, and don’t truthfully care for your suffering pets. Sincerely, One unhappy pet owner.

I took Nacho in for a neutering. He was having a couple of issues. I was hoping this would fix hem. It turns out that he didn't have any behavioral problems at all thank goodness! He still rules the roost and is cuter than ever! The people at this clinic are all so nice and professional! Many thanks to all of you!!!! Beth

This clinic was so nice to help me today! Our cat had inflammation of the bladder and our regular vet was out of the litter they need that you can collect samples from. They gave me some of their own litter to add to what I have so that she will use the box. So it saved me from having to put our cat through another stressful Car ride trying to get a sample via the vet. This way I can take it without having to bring her in (unless the vet says we need to) they were so kind to help me when I don’t even go to that clinic. I will definitely go to them if our vet ever moves or can’t see our cat. Sweet people!
