Welcome to Hilltop Animal Clinic
Hilltop Animal Clinic, located at 1485 Main St, Leicester, MA 01524, USA, functions as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" within the local community. They provide a broad spectrum of veterinary services aimed at maintaining the health and well-being of companion animals. Operating with a phone number of (508) 892-0900 and a mobile phone number of +1 508-892-0900, Hilltop Animal Clinic serves as a primary care provider for pets in Leicester and surrounding areas. It's important to note, however, that recent information indicates Hilltop Animal Clinic is currently not taking new clients in order to properly care for their existing patient base.
As a "Pet Hospital," Hilltop Animal Clinic is equipped to handle a wide array of medical, surgical, and preventative care needs for pets. Their services extend beyond basic check-ups, aiming to provide thorough and integrated veterinary care throughout a pet's life. This includes everything from the foundational aspects of wellness and prevention to more advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities.
While specific details about the interior aesthetics and facilities of Hilltop Animal Clinic are not extensively detailed in general internet information, the nature of a full-service animal clinic implies a professional and functional environment. Typically, a pet hospital of this kind would feature examination rooms, a waiting area, an in-house laboratory for quick diagnostics, surgical suites, and potentially specialized areas for imaging like X-rays. The overall impression from existing long-term customer reviews suggests a clinic where the focus is on the quality of veterinary care delivered to the pets. One long-standing customer explicitly states, "They have been great I have used them at least ten years never an issue they have taking great care of my pets," which implies a reliable and caring environment for the animals themselves.
Hilltop Animal Clinic offers a wide range of services designed to cover various stages of a pet's life and health needs. These services generally include:
- Wellness & Prevention: This is the cornerstone of their practice, encompassing routine nose-to-tail wellness exams, tailored vaccination schedules for puppies, kittens, and adult pets (including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, bordetella for dogs; rabies, feline distemper, calicivirus, and herpesvirus for cats), and comprehensive parasite control programs for heartworms, fleas, and ticks.
- Diagnostics & Testing: They utilize various diagnostic tools to accurately identify health issues, including digital X-rays for examining internal body systems and in-house laboratory services for quick and efficient blood work, urinalysis, and other essential tests.
- Advanced Care & Surgery: Hilltop Animal Clinic provides comprehensive medical and surgical care. This includes various surgical procedures, pet anesthesia, and potentially specialized services like orthopedic veterinary care for injuries affecting the skeletal system, muscles, joints, and ligaments. They also offer Laser Therapy for various conditions.
- Dental Care: Recognizing the importance of oral health, they provide pet dental care, including exams, X-rays, and professional cleanings to prevent dental pain, tooth loss, and systemic health issues.
- Specialized Services: These may include dermatology for skin issues, endocrinology for hormonal imbalances, and nutritional counseling to help pet owners make informed dietary choices for their pets' specific needs, including weight management or age-related nutrition.
- Pain Management: A key consideration in their approach, they are committed to identifying the source of a pet's discomfort and helping owners recognize signs of pain, offering appropriate treatments.
- Senior Pet Care: As pets age, they require specialized attention. Hilltop Animal Clinic offers age-specific testing and care to help senior pets remain healthy and extend their longevity.
- Hospice & Euthanasia: For pets nearing the end of their lives, they offer compassionate hospice care services and humane euthanasia, providing support and guidance to pet owners through this difficult decision.
- OFA Certification: For breeders and pet owners, they offer OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) Hip & Elbow evaluation/certification, which is crucial for assessing hip joint health, particularly for conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia.
The features of Hilltop Animal Clinic present a mixed picture, based on the provided customer feedback. On one hand, there is a strong indication of consistent, high-quality medical care from long-term clients. One customer explicitly states, "never an issue they have taking great care of my pets," suggesting a reliable and effective veterinary team. Another common theme from positive reviews for similar "Hilltop Animal Hospital" or "Clinic" entries (though specific to this location) is that vets are "knowledgeable," "attentive," and "actually care for their clients and their pets," and staff are "super friendly and helpful." This points to a generally caring and professional approach to animal treatment.
However, a significant feature, or rather a concern, is highlighted by the negative review regarding customer service. The account of a new client inquiring about spay, rabies, and distemper pricing being met with extreme rudeness, screaming, and a hung-up phone call is highly concerning. This suggests a severe inconsistency in client interaction, specifically around sensitive topics like pricing estimates, which can be a critical point of contact for potential new clients. This unprofessional conduct, if representative, could significantly impact the clinic's reputation and ability to attract new patients, despite its positive history with existing ones. The reviewer's conclusion, "If they are this unprofessional with humans imagine how they'd treat your family pet," reflects a major trust issue that such an experience can create.
In terms of promotional information, like many established veterinary clinics, Hilltop Animal Clinic likely relies heavily on word-of-mouth referrals from their long-standing, satisfied client base. Their stated mission and values, if consistently applied, would also serve as a form of promotion. They offer evening and Saturday appointments, which can be a convenience for busy pet owners. Additionally, they have an online store for ordering pet food and medicine, potentially offering discounts and promotions on products, which can be a significant benefit to clients. They also work with pet insurance providers and offer information on treatment financing options like CareCredit and Scratchpay, which helps make veterinary care more accessible for clients. However, the current policy of not accepting new clients limits their immediate promotional reach for new patients.
In conclusion, Hilltop Animal Clinic in Leicester, MA, is a well-established "Pet Hospital" offering comprehensive veterinary services, from preventative wellness to advanced diagnostics and surgery. Long-term customer testimonials generally praise the quality of medical care and the dedication of the veterinary staff, reflecting a history of providing effective treatment and building trust with existing clients. However, the severe negative feedback concerning phone etiquette and professionalism with potential new clients highlights a critical area for improvement in client communication and service consistency. For existing clients, the clinic appears to be a reliable choice, offering a wide range of services and potentially convenient features like an online pharmacy and financing options. For those seeking new veterinary care, the current policy of not accepting new clients, coupled with the noted communication issues, would require careful consideration.

Apr 16, 2025 · John DoeSo if you were ever thinking about using this place think twice. My wife called today to inquire about pricing for our puppy to be Spayed, rabies shot and distemper. The guy that answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional screaming at her telling her that they don't give estimates and literally hung up the phone on her. So she called back to ask how she could go about getting an estimate and what that attitude was all about and she got screamed at some more. So the moral of the story is clearly the people that work there are completely unprofessional and should not have a job dealing with customers. If they are this unprofessional with humans imagine how they'd treat your family pet. If you're an existing customer think about removing your pet from their care immediately.
Jan 09, 2025 · Josh SutterBeware- my wife and I sent over information to transfer one of our pets here for care, and we got a call back from a guy on the phone who accused us of our animal being aggressive due to a note from our other clinic that our animal doesn't like to be restrained and not telling them, then refusing to accept us. This was news to us. The guy on the phone was extremely rude to my wife and very unprofessional.
