Welcome to Heritage Animal Hospital
Heritage Animal Hospital, located at 51 Parkway Ln, Morgantown, KY 42261, USA, stands out as a highly respected and cherished "Pet Hospital" within its community. Beyond being a typical small animal clinic, Heritage Animal Hospital operates as a comprehensive mixed animal practice, providing exceptional care not only for beloved household pets like dogs and cats but also for larger animals such as horses (equine) and ruminants. The consistent outpouring of positive customer reviews highlights a deep commitment to compassion, expertise, and a personalized approach to veterinary medicine, making it a cornerstone for animal health in Morgantown and the surrounding areas.
The environment at Heritage Animal Hospital is consistently described by clients as welcoming, clean, and equipped to handle a diverse range of animals. The facility on Parkway Lane is designed to accommodate both small and large animal patients, which is a significant feature, especially in a rural community where such specialized care is invaluable. While specific interior design details are not widely publicized, the sentiment from client testimonials emphasizes a professional yet friendly atmosphere where both human and animal family members feel comfortable and supported. The "new facility" mentioned in some reviews suggests a modern and well-maintained space. For large animals, the presence of a "haul-in facility" indicates a well-equipped space for treating horses and livestock, ensuring their safety and the efficiency of veterinary procedures. The overriding impression is one of a low-stress, supportive environment, where the team's kindness and genuine care for animals shine through.
Heritage Animal Hospital provides a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, reflecting its dedication to a broad spectrum of animal health needs. As a "Pet Hospital" caring for both small and large animals, their offerings are extensive:
General Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the foundation of their practice for all animals. Services include routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination programs, parasite prevention and control (including flea, tick, and heartworm), microchipping, and nutritional counseling. For older pets, they recommend bi-annual exams to proactively manage age-related issues.
Small Animal Services: For dogs and cats, they offer comprehensive care including:
In-House Diagnostics: State-of-the-art equipment such as digital radiography (X-rays) for precise internal imaging, ultrasound for detailed internal organ examination, and an in-house laboratory for rapid blood work (complete blood count, chemistry profiles), urinalysis, and fecal exams. This allows for quick diagnoses and reduces client wait times.
Dentistry: Professional dental cleanings using ultrasonic de-scalers and hand scaling, followed by polishing. They also perform extractions and offer anesthesia-free cleanings monthly for suitable candidates. Dental X-rays are used for thorough oral assessments.
Surgery: A dedicated surgical suite where a variety of procedures are performed, including routine spaying/neutering, mass excisions, cystotomies, and some orthopedic surgeries. They emphasize rigorous pre-operative assessments, customized anesthesia protocols, continuous monitoring by licensed veterinary technicians, and robust pain management strategies.
Urgent Care: Available during business hours for unexpected illnesses or injuries, addressing issues like skin infections, respiratory problems, allergies, gastrointestinal and urinary issues, ear/eye infections, and wound care.
Cold Laser Therapy: Used for pain reduction, inflammation control, and accelerating healing in conditions like arthritis, sprains, and post-operative recovery.
End-of-Life Care: Compassionate euthanasia services, quality of life consultations, and options for private or communal cremation, recognizing the emotional toll these times take on pet owners.
Large Animal Services (Equine & Ruminant): This is a key differentiator for Heritage Animal Hospital, making them a vital resource for the agricultural community. Services include:
Barn Visits (Farm Calls): As evidenced by client reviews, Dr. Hampton and the team are willing to make barn visits for horses and other large animals, providing convenient care at the animal's home environment.
Haul-In Facility: For cases requiring more intensive procedures or diagnostics, they have a facility equipped to handle large animals on-site.
Specialized Diagnostics and Treatments: Likely includes field diagnostics for common equine and ruminant conditions, reproductive services, lameness evaluations, and preventative care specific to livestock.
Advanced and Alternative Therapies: Beyond conventional medicine, Heritage Animal Hospital is noted for offering:
Chiropractic Care: Addressing musculoskeletal issues to improve mobility and reduce pain in various animals.
Stem Cell Therapy: A cutting-edge regenerative medicine option, likely used for conditions like arthritis or injuries to promote healing.
Several features distinguish Heritage Animal Hospital and contribute to its excellent reputation:
Mixed Animal Practice: Their ability to care for both small and large animals, including equine and ruminant patients, is a significant advantage, serving a wider demographic of animal owners in a predominantly rural area. This breadth of service is relatively rare and highly valued.
High Client Satisfaction: The glowing testimonials from long-term clients consistently praise the staff's kindness, compassion, thoroughness, and accommodation. Phrases like "always been there for me and my kids," "wouldn't trust anyone else," and "consistent compassion" underline the deep trust and loyalty they've built.
Experienced and Dedicated Team: The reviews highlight the staff's friendliness, knowledge, and thoroughness in examinations. The mention of Dr. Hampton making barn visits and the team's support through "sad times and happy times" speaks volumes about their commitment.
Advanced Medical Equipment: The presence of digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house labs, laser therapy, and advanced surgical equipment ensures that pets receive modern, high-quality care.
Holistic and Progressive Approach: Offering alternative therapies like chiropractic care and stem cell therapy demonstrates a commitment to exploring all avenues for animal well-being and pain management.
Urgent and Emergency Care: While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, they offer urgent care during business hours and provide an on-call veterinarian for after-hours emergencies, demonstrating their dedication to being available when needed most.
Community Integration: The reviews indicate a strong bond with the local community, treating clients as "friends, neighbors, and family."
While specific limited-time promotions are best confirmed directly with the hospital, Heritage Animal Hospital’s commitment to client satisfaction and comprehensive care serves as its primary promotion. They focus on building long-term relationships through excellent service, which in turn generates strong word-of-mouth referrals, as evidenced by the decades-long loyalty of some clients.
Wellness Plans: Their website indicates they offer "Wellness Plans," which are often packages designed to make preventative care more affordable by bundling services for puppies, kittens, and adult pets.
Emphasis on Education: They prioritize client education, ensuring owners understand their pet's health status and treatment options, answering all questions thoroughly.
Convenience: The practice strives for convenience with options for same-day appointments and the flexibility to accommodate client needs where possible.

Mar 07, 2025 · Jen CalderThey are the BEST! I've been bringing my babies here for DECADES. I cannot say enough about how they've always been there for me and my kids....I wouldn't trust anyone else with my kids. The staff is always friendly and they are always accommodating with our needs. Very knowledgeable and thorough in examinations. They've always answered all my questions ( and I always have a ton ). Highly recommend!
Feb 06, 2025 · Beth ErinWe found Heritage when searching for a veterinary chiropractor. Dr Hampton is awesome! We've since seen Dr Wells and Dr Gayheart and they're both awesome too! They always fit you in and never rush you out the door. The building is always clean and the office staff is always friendly. We drive from Leitchfield to see them.
May 03, 2025 · E MTheir after hours staff are quick to respond, get you seen and really care about your fur family members. My cat was very at ease with the doc! The office cats are a bonus. My regular vet was on leave and she recommended this clinic to me, so that alone speaks volumes! Thanks for taking care of mean kitty lol (daisy)
Jan 13, 2025 · sara roeAbsolutely hands down recommend this place. We have a (now) much better trained goldendoodle. We had to send him off to training school for a few weeks for his dominance issues. Even knowing how he is and how he can be, they have never allowed any of those issues to keep them from seeing Rio while sick or needing his yearly visits. Rio is a complete different dog after training and loves to visit them-even with an ear infection! The staff and physicians here are amazing!! They care for these animals deeply like they were their own. We've had to call numerous times for appointments and they always get us right in if needed. We've also had to call the emergency line a couple of times and they return calls right away. We drive close to an hour to see them, that alone speaks for itself. Thank you for all you guys do!!! ❤️🐶
