We started going to Haywood Animal Hospital for the Loyal STAY study. We switched there permanently after River was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, at which point she had to exit the study. From the moment I walked in the door for the first time, the reception staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient. Our first appointment was with Dr. Shoemake and vet tech Alexandria. I was astounded by both of their compassion, empathy, knowledge, and immediate love shown to my Airedale Terrier, River. Alexandria was friendly and personable, as was Dr. Shoemake. Just before River's DM diagnosis, her old vet told me I should start thinking of euthanizing her because she couldn't stand up without help and questioned her quality of life. We went to a STAY appointment with Dr. Shoemake and Erica was the vet tech. Erica was warm, kind, friendly, and knowledgable. I literally started crying when Dr. Shoemake said, "absolutely not, she's not ready and can still have a great quality of life." I asked Dr. Shoemake if I could give her a hug and she gave me a great big hug. I have never been so relieved in my life. Dr. Shoemake even arranged for a wheelchair for River as I am disabled and couldn't afford one. Ultimately, River's neurologist said not to use a wheelchair because she would give up quicker and we used a Help Em Up Harness instead, but the gesture was so incredibly appreciated and unprecedented in my over 30 years of having dogs. Dr. Shoemake, Dr. Wilfert, Alexandria, Erica, and Andrea made it evident at each and every appointment that they cared deeply about River and her wellbeing and also about me and mine. They even made a note in my chart, per my request, that my emergency contact was to be notified in the event I was receiving the news that River needed to be euthanized. Autumn at the front desk was always more than kind and helpful. I have nothing but great things to say about Haywood Animal Hospital and if I ever have a dog again (losing this one nearly killed me), I will not hesitate to return. I know I'm leaving out employees' names and I feel terrible that I don't know them all, but if you want competent and compassionate care, Haywood Animal Hospital is the place to go!!!

I have never been to a animal hospital that has the best staff in North Carolina, they are professional, compassionate, polite ,loving, and kind, they far beyond the call of duty. My beautiful little palm was suffering and could have died and the treatment and surgery was needed to save her life and they found away to make it have with so much love , compassion, and a loving smile. I truly recommend this place and staff to give your fur babies the best of everything, thank you all and the organizations that help us in the time of need

Great staff and doctors. They remember my pets and treat them with love! They give a rundown of price while they are telling you options and things that need to be done. Have been upfront and honest with us. We have been with them for over for15 years

Do not hesitate to bring your little friends here! Dr. Jones and the staff of Haywood Animal Hospital are friendly and welcoming. We had a great experience bringing our little lady in for an emergency when we couldn’t get in with our normal vet. Dr. Jones gave us peace of mind and walked us through her treatment plan. Hazel, our cat, normally has a really hard time at the vet. However this visit was smooth and not long winded. Hazel was calmer than we have ever seen at the vet. We attribute this to three things: 1.) Being able to accompany her in the examination room. 2.) Dr. Jones calm demeanor + experience. 3.) Swift and well executed exam that was thorough, but not long-winded. Hazel is a happy camper and we will be back! :)

We have been utilizing this clinic for our Doodle’s care ever since we moved to Hendersonville, 9 years ago. I chose this clinic because of the proximity to home. We used to have Dr. Coleman. I loved his demeanor and care for my pet. Then, there was another vet that I had some issues with. But, that was during the time when I could no longer tolerate the scented air due to chemical sensitivities. So, my husband began taking my dog for me. Recently, I have been able to return to the clinic. I am writing this review to express my thanks to the new Dr. and her assistant, Alexandria. They both showed genuine compassion and care. It truly showed in their treatment and handling of my Doodle. This visit was the best and most relaxed for me, that I have had in a long time. I could make choices as to my Doodle’s care and what vaccines I wanted him to have, or not have, without having to explain myself or hear negative feedback. All agreed treatment to be given was thoroughly understood and repeated back. The quote actually matched the bill. There were no extra charges added in like what had happened in the past. Even the front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. This clinic now has the feel of when I first started using them. You have a great team!
