While this vet was helpful in improving and extending the life my senior cat, there were issues with diagnosing and treating a skin/ear issue with a new young cat. Over months, the vet prescribed daily use of an ear cleaner that turned out to be exasperating the issue (after successful treatment of a yeast infection). During this time, I spent time and money on numerous recommended cultures and treatments that did not work…Stopping short of a biopsy or inner-ear sample (equivalent to surgery). After a while, I really felt as if I was torturing my own pet. Then on my own, I altered my cat’s diet and discontinued use of the ear cleaner, eventually getting the issue mostly under control. The vet was unapologetic. He will tell you that switching ear cleaners was on the list of things to try. However, it was down on the list…A switch was either not mentioned during appointments, or mentioned as unlikely to help. Additionally, during this trial, I sensed that the vet was tired of us, or my cat, or just not that fond of cats in general (based on a personal comment).

Everyone at Harwood is amazing! Dr. Paul takes his time to get to know you and your pet and really cares. I cannot say enough great things about him and everyone in the office. We wouldn't trust our pets with any other vet.

We are so happy to find Dr. Paul. We were worried - another practice had recommended a dental for our 16 year old cat, who has recently been diagnosed with kidney disease. (Our previous vet, whom we loved, had to retire because of a family emergency. It was another vet on staff who said our cat needed a dental.) Dr Paul said he does not do dentals on senior cats because it's too risky and we thought, "Here is someone who is putting our cat's health ahead of his financial interests." He took his time with our cat and with explaining kidney disease and how to treat it, giving us a biology lesson about feline kidney disease, cat food, and supplements. I feel well-informed on what we can do and what the future might hold. It's clear that he and his staff care about animals and want to do what's best for the pet.

Dr. Paul and his staff helped care for my dog in the last 6 (medically complicated) years of her life. There is a very personal touch here, and they very clearly care for their clients. I highly recommend Harwood Vet Hospital.
