We were visiting Maine in March and brought a sick kitten along. She showed signs of worsening as time went on. After being turned away from no less than four vet clinics in the Rockland area, Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital took us during a very busy day for them. Heather, the receptionist, was so lovely listening to my story. When we arrived at the hospital, she was so caring. We waited no longer than five minutes before being taken to the exam room. Drew, the vet tech, was obviously an animal lover and lovingly did her part before turning us over to the vet. Dr. Yovino was just as caring while informing and educating us on Bebe's condition. He is so knowledgeable and able to clearly convey that information. After close to an hour of their time, we felt we had been given the best of care. Our kitten is now on the road to recovery and showing the normal, young kitten activity level. Thank you isn't enough. Our gratitude goes to these loving professionals for the best of care.

Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital provides a broad spectrum of services for small animals. Their core offerings include comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care, catering to a wide range of pet health needs. Preventative care is a cornerstone of their philosophy, with recommendations based on guidelines established by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). They customize these suggestions further based on factors such as a dog's age, lifestyle, and medical history. Typically, at least one annual exam is recommended, during which veterinarians review medical history, assess behavior, make dietary recommendations, and evaluate any known health conditions. Key preventative services also include:
- Vaccinations: Tailored to a pet's lifestyle and breed, including core vaccines like rabies, distemper, and Leptospirosis, with additional recommendations for canine influenza, Bordetella, and Lyme where appropriate.
- Parasite Prevention: Products to protect pets from fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, and heartworms.
- Diagnostic Testing: To identify health conditions not detectable during a physical exam and confirm pets are free from internal parasites.
Beyond preventative care, they offer specialized services such as advanced soft tissue surgery, pet allergy and dermatology diagnostics and treatment, and pet laser therapy. They provide diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and external laboratories, and when specialized procedures are required, they work closely with referral practices. Furthermore, Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital offers end-of-life pet care, demonstrating a commitment to supporting pet owners through all stages of their pet's life.
The features that set Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital apart extend beyond their comprehensive services and inviting environment. Their team-oriented approach is a significant asset; they pride themselves on fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. The staffing model often includes a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and two techs/assistants per doctor, ensuring that each veterinarian has ample support to deliver high-quality patient care. This collaborative environment also encourages professional growth among the staff. The hospital is known for its knowledgeable and experienced veterinarians, who are not only skilled in their medical practice but also excel at educating pet owners about their pet's condition. This commitment to clear communication helps pet parents understand their options and make informed decisions about their pet's care. The consistent positive feedback regarding the staff's professionalism, empathy, and ability to put pets and owners at ease speaks volumes about their dedication.
Promotional information for Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital is generally focused on welcoming new clients and fostering ongoing relationships. While specific current promotions should always be verified directly with the hospital, veterinary clinics in similar categories often offer incentives such as:

Jan 27, 2025 · Laura BayneMy parents and I have brought our dogs to Harbor Road Vetrinary Hospital for years. We have always received friendly & knowledgeable services whenever we visit. The kidness & compassion given by staff members when we have had to say goodbye to any of our dogs has been appreciated. This is the only veterinarian we would bring our pets to.
