I cannot say enough good things about Guardian Veterinary Emergency Services in Middletown, New York, especially Dr. Suzanne Ursitti and her team. My 16-year-old miniature poodle, Roxy, had a terrifying emergency today while out on a walk—she began coughing and throwing up blood. We rushed her to Guardian, and from the moment we arrived, the staff was incredible. They immediately took Roxy in and began caring for her. After about 20 minutes, they let me go back to be with her to calm her down while she was receiving oxygen for low oxygen levels. The compassion and professionalism they showed were extraordinary. They completed all necessary tests and even addressed an unrelated issue in her mouth, removing some plaque to improve her comfort. Dr. Ursitti was phenomenal—not just in her expertise, but in her kindness and genuine love for animals. She and the entire staff shared stories about their own pets, which really put me at ease during such a stressful time. Their care extended beyond Roxy to every other animal that came in while I was there. The follow-up instructions they provided were clear and detailed, ensuring I knew exactly how to care for Roxy moving forward. Once home I received 2 emails, 1 with mediation information and 1 from Dr. Ursitti with the entire summary of visit as well as images and test results that I can share with my Vet. Thanks to their exceptional care, my “old lady” Roxy is going to be okay, and I feel so fortunate that we ended up at such a top-notch facility in an after-hours emergency. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ursitti and the entire team at Guardian Veterinary Emergency Services—you are absolutely amazing!

Welcome to Guardian Veterinary Emergency

For residents in Middletown, New York, seeking immediate and critical veterinary care, Guardian Veterinary Emergency, located at 517 NY-211, Middletown, NY 10941, provides after-hours emergency services for pets. The clinic is particularly commended in one detailed review for its exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion, especially highlighting the work of Dr. Suzanne Ursitti and her team.

According to a positive customer experience, Guardian Veterinary Emergency demonstrated remarkable efficiency and care when a 16-year-old miniature poodle experienced a serious health emergency. The staff immediately attended to the pet upon arrival, providing necessary treatments such as oxygen therapy. The reviewer emphasized the extraordinary compassion and professionalism of the entire team, who not only addressed the immediate emergency but also identified and treated a secondary issue to improve the pet's comfort.

Dr. Ursitti is specifically praised for her expertise, kindness, and genuine affection for animals. The reviewer noted that Dr. Ursitti and the staff fostered a sense of ease during a stressful situation by sharing personal stories about their own pets. Furthermore, the clinic's care extended to all animals present, indicating a consistent commitment to animal welfare.

The follow-up care provided by Guardian Veterinary Emergency is also noteworthy. The clinic supplied clear and detailed instructions for post-emergency care and proactively sent two emails containing medication information and a comprehensive visit summary from Dr. Ursitti, including images and test results for the owner to share with their primary veterinarian. This thorough follow-up demonstrates a commitment to ongoing care and communication.

However, another review presents a contrasting experience. This review indicates that on November 17th at 12:15 a.m., the clinic reportedly stated they do not take in parrots or exotic animals, despite being listed as an after-hours emergency contact by a veterinary hospital that claims to specialize in avian and exotic pets. The reviewer expressed significant distress and the belief that their parrot might have survived if they had received care at Guardian Veterinary Emergency. This suggests a potential limitation in the types of animals Guardian Veterinary Emergency is equipped to handle.

Based on the available reviews, Guardian Veterinary Emergency appears to provide exceptional and compassionate emergency care for certain types of pets, particularly dogs, as highlighted in the positive review. The negative review indicates a potential lack of services for exotic animals like parrots. Local users in Middletown, NY, requiring emergency veterinary services should be aware of these differing experiences and may want to inquire about the specific types of animals they can treat when contacting them at (845) 692-0260 or +1 845-692-0260.

Newburgh veterinary Hospital had put you down as an emergency number after hours. My African gray parrot left and died four hours later after seeing them I called your number November 17 12: 15 a.m. only to be told you do not take in parrots or exotic animals. Newburgh veterinarian Hospital is supposed to be an avian exotic specialist with parrots and exotic animals plus dogs cats. My parrot could have lived if I wasn’t told we don’t deal with parrots and exotic animals. The whole thing contradicts itself. Why would they leave an emergency number when they see parrots and exotic birds, but the man on the phone told me they don’t shame on you unbelievable my parrot could’ve Have lived shame on you. I’m going to find out who I spoke to. It was a gentleman or a kid should I say?

I had to put my 8 year old dog to sleep unfortunately at a place he didn’t know but they were more than compassionate and gave us our time and were very knowledgeable. They made the experience as comforting as they possibly could.

Guardian veterinary emergency really helped me when I had to bring my dog in for ingesting something toxic. Dr. Anthony DiMascio was the kindest vet I’ve probably ever met in my 15 years of having a dog. He was quick to come up with the best plan for my dog and went into action. Checking on me the whole time making sure I was also doing okay. He then checked on us the next day and offered me so much support when I was unsure if she would be okay. I’ll never forget a kind and caring vet like that and I am forever grateful!

We visited Guardian Veterinary on Sunday May 7, 2023 because our 17 year old chihuahua was in pain from her bladder cancer and needed to be put to sleep. I can’t say enough about how caring and compassionate the staff was during this difficult time. They treated our dog so tenderly and made her final moments as comfortable as possible. They let us take as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes both before putting her to sleep and after. I was thoroughly impressed with the beautiful urn and keepsake paw print box with a slot to put her picture we received with the private cremation package. My reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because they misspelled her name (Love) on the certificate of cremation paperwork despite me writing it correctly (Luv) on the office paperwork.
