GSVS Veterinary Emergency Care Toms River

I brought in my spicy senior dog who had a torn dew claw. I can’t express how thankful I am to the CSR, Nurse and Dr. on that night! They were extremely thorough, compassionate, and handled him with care. I will be taking my fur kids to them for any emergencies going forward. Thank you!

The team was polite and thorough in the exam. We received honest clear answers to our questions about our sick kitten. The doctor spent time with us and gave us lots of information about which treatments were necessary, and which could be optional. He helped us come to a decision that we felt comfortable with. We were sent home with medication, and with information that was helpful, in getting us through, until we could get to our own vet the next day. We were very satisfied with the treatment and the staff. We definitely would recommend GSVS to anyone who is need of emergency care for a pet. I appreciate the close location, the state of the art facility, and the excellent staff

Unfortunately I’m really disappointed in my pets care as far as charges go. I was told my dog was only going to have a nail trim and that the quick didn’t appear to be open. The vet applied a wound care fee of $110. He applied a prophylactic (this means cautionary as the vet confirmed the integrity of the quick was not broken) antiseptic which no one asked if I was willing to approve that medication application. We received no bandaging, no further medication as he stated “the quick is not broken, I did not cut it. I trimmed the bottom to even it out. There was no blood.” When I wanted to talk over the charge as it seemed completely unjust; he stated to the secretary “ I already explained it to them.” the secretary had stated “ the vet said he cut the quick and he applied the antiseptic.” So he told myself and my partner the opposite of what he told fellow staff. And I was initially told a nail trim alone wouldn’t result in a charge. Unless further treatment was necessary. Further treatment was not necessary and even the Vet Tech was caught off guard by the wound care fee. They trimmed the nail and applied an antiseptic that was not needed as the quick was not broken or bleeding. I recommend the Eatontown location they practice communication and consent much better between staff and clients. I expect to speak to management.

The team was fantastic! The techs listened and our doctor didn't push us to perform unnecessary testing. I felt heard from the entire staff. Although I did have to put my cat to rest, I felt comfortable in my decision after the care we received. The entire team that was there helping us during this difficult time deserves recognition.Communication, and listening skills were impeccable. I would say the waiting room while sparking clean and beautiful could use some sound buffer. It was a little too quiet.

I've made two visits to this emergency care hospital for my 16 year old pup. In both instances, the entire staff was professional, upbeat, and empathetic. Both doctors carefully listened to my concerns. They made suggestions, but did not push me to give my pup tests that may or may not show anything. They did not want my pup to be under more stress than he already was. Both times I received follow up calls.
