Great first time experience. Marybeth was pivotal in our coming in as first-time patients. Our previous vet was charging nearly $300 for an x-ray that i wanted done for our Lilys luxating patella. They never informed me that an x-ray wouldn't be necessary for this issue. I appreciate the truthfulness of our new veterinarian. Thank you, folks!!

As a dedicated Pet Hospital, Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic provides essential veterinary services with an emphasis on truthfulness and reasonable pricing. The clinic's approach seems rooted in a long-standing commitment to the local community, prioritizing the health and well-being of pets without unnecessary financial burden on their owners.

One first-time customer shared a particularly positive experience, highlighting the pivotal role of Marybeth in their decision to choose Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic. This suggests that the front office staff is welcoming and plays a crucial part in making new clients feel comfortable. The reviewer then shared a significant issue they had with their previous veterinarian regarding an expensive and potentially unnecessary X-ray for their dog Lily's luxating patella. They expressed deep appreciation for the "truthfulness" of the new veterinarian at Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic, who apparently clarified that an X-ray was not necessary for this particular condition. This anecdote strongly emphasizes the clinic's commitment to honesty and ethical practice, potentially saving pet owners significant costs and unnecessary procedures. The simple yet powerful "Thank you, folks!!" at the end of the review speaks volumes about the positive impact of this truthful approach.

Another reviewer, who gave a 5/5 rating, describes Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic as an "Old school community Veterinarian." This paints a picture of a practice deeply embedded in the local community, likely built on trust and long-term relationships with pet owners. The reviewer acknowledges that the building might not be "new and fancy," setting realistic expectations for those who prioritize modern aesthetics. However, they immediately pivot to praise Dr. Herzog as a "local treasure" who provides "awesome care" for pets. This highlights that the clinic's strength lies in the expertise and dedication of its veterinarian rather than the modernity of its facilities. Furthermore, the reviewer explicitly mentions that their fees are "very reasonable considering how expensive some vet care can be." This reinforces the theme of affordability and value for money at Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic. The reviewer's sentiment of not looking forward to finding another practice when Dr. Herzog eventually retires underscores the high level of trust and satisfaction they have in his care.

5/5. Old school community Veterinarian. Not a new and fancy building, so if that is what you are looking for, you might be disappointed, but Dr. Herzog is a local treasure and will take awesome care of your pet. Also, their fees are very reasonable considering how expensive some vet care can be. Not looking forward to finding another practice when he eventually retires.

So glad we found Dr. Herzog! I have to echo the other reviews that say he’s an animal whisperer. We have some very nervous kitties and he’s so patient and gentle with them. Prices are fair and care is top notch. I also can’t say I understand the negative reviews about the receptionist—we’ve had nothing but good experiences with the two ladies at the front desk. Can’t imagine taking our babies anywhere else.

This has been my family vet for over a decade, and the quality of service has never dwindled. Dr. Herzog is gentle and kind with his patients, always giving them some pets and sweet talk before any shots or examinations. He really gives you the feeling that he genuinely cares about your pets and how they’re doing. The pricing is amazing, I feel very lucky that we got in when we did all those years ago, because I know many vets aren’t taking new families at this time. They’re very tolerant of skittish dogs too- my old dog was a champion at the vet, but my current two dogs are petrified of the exam tables and will do whatever they can to resist. This doesn’t stop Dr. Herzog or the other staff from being patient and kind to them, and my scaredy-dogs get offered treats to ease their anxiety while Dr. Herzog lets me hold them in place on the table. The people here are very clearly in the business because they care about animals, it’s never driven by money or greed.
