Our dog had partial CCL tears in both legs. We opted to do the TPLO surgery in both legs in the same surgery. The pricing of the surgery was very fair and upfront. Dr. Becker is excellent, and was wonderful to work with. He is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about treatment options, and ultimately helped us feel confident that we were making the best decision for our dog. had 100% trust in the staff at Granite Veterinary Specialists that they were going to take excellent care of our dog. We did the surgery in January 2024. The first picture is our dog a couple days after her surgery. The second is her swimming and playing fetch last month. She has bounced back extremely well and has such an improved quality of life. She is able to do everything that she did before her injury. My only regret is not doing the surgery sooner! I highly recommend Dr. Becker and the team at Granite Veterinary Specialists!

Welcome to Granite Veterinary Specialists
Welcome to the introduction of Granite Veterinary Specialists, a dedicated pet hospital located in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, operating under the platform category of Pet Hospital. Granite Veterinary Specialists distinguishes itself by offering specialized surgical services for pets, focusing on addressing complex orthopedic and other surgical needs. For local users seeking advanced surgical interventions for their beloved animal companions, understanding the environment, services, features, and the experiences of other pet owners is crucial in making informed decisions about their pet's care.
As a Pet Hospital specializing in surgical procedures, Granite Veterinary Specialists likely provides a range of advanced surgical services. Based on the available customer reviews, a significant area of their expertise lies in orthopedic surgery, particularly the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) procedure. TPLO surgery is a common and highly effective treatment for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tears, a frequent knee injury in dogs that can cause lameness and pain. The fact that they performed bilateral TPLO surgery (on both legs) in a single procedure for one patient indicates their capability in handling complex orthopedic cases. Additionally, another review mentions wrist surgery on a dog, suggesting their surgical expertise extends beyond CCL repairs to address other musculoskeletal issues.
While specific details about the clinic's environment are not provided in the reviews, we can infer certain aspects based on the nature of their services. As a surgical specialty practice, Granite Veterinary Specialists would undoubtedly have well-equipped surgical suites with advanced monitoring and anesthesia equipment to ensure the safety and well-being of their patients during procedures. They would also likely have dedicated recovery areas where pets can be closely monitored in the immediate post-operative period. Furthermore, facilities for pre-surgical preparation and post-surgical care, including pain management, would be essential components of their environment. While the ambiance of the waiting areas or other general aspects of the clinic are not described, the focus is clearly on providing high-quality surgical care.
The services offered at Granite Veterinary Specialists center around surgical interventions. These include, but may not be limited to, orthopedic surgeries such as TPLO for CCL tears and fracture repairs. The mention of wrist surgery suggests they are capable of addressing a variety of joint and bone issues. To provide comprehensive surgical care, they would also offer pre-surgical evaluations, including thorough physical examinations and potentially diagnostic imaging to assess the extent of the problem. Anesthesia administration and monitoring by trained professionals are critical components of their services. Post-operative care, including pain management protocols and detailed instructions for at-home care and rehabilitation, would also be integral to their service offerings. While the reviews primarily focus on surgical outcomes, it's reasonable to assume they also provide consultations to discuss treatment options and address pet owners' questions and concerns.
Several key features of Granite Veterinary Specialists emerge from the customer testimonials. One prominent feature is the expertise and knowledge of their veterinary staff, particularly Dr. Becker, who is repeatedly mentioned in positive terms. Clients describe him as "excellent" and "very knowledgeable," highlighting his ability to explain treatment options clearly and instill confidence in pet owners that they are making the best decisions for their animals. The high level of trust placed in the entire staff is another significant feature, with one owner stating they had "100% trust" in the team to provide excellent care. This speaks to the professionalism and competence of the entire team at Granite Veterinary Specialists.
Another noteworthy feature is the transparency and fairness of their pricing. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the "pricing of the surgery was very fair and upfront." This is a crucial aspect for pet owners facing significant veterinary expenses and contributes to a feeling of trust and confidence in the practice. The positive outcomes of the surgeries performed are also a major feature. The reviews describe dogs recovering remarkably well, regaining their mobility, and experiencing a significantly improved quality of life after procedures like bilateral TPLO surgery. The ability of pets to return to their pre-injury activity levels is a testament to the skill and success of the surgical interventions at Granite Veterinary Specialists.

Sep 20, 2024 · MaKenzee TownsendMy dog (Dippy) had to have surgery on his wrist. It was a confusing and hard process, everyone here was so nice and kind and that made it easier. My dog also loved them and loved the attention they gave him. This is just a funny picture of him sleeping, and I laugh when I see his paw sticking up because they had to fuse his wrist. He’s more himself than he’s been for a long time. Dr. Becker is a huge part of that.
Jan 16, 2025 · Ann_ 22I can’t properly express my immense gratitude for Dr. Becker and his team!! Dr. Becker is an excellent and highly skilled surgeon who gave my dog an entirely new and happy life after a complete hip replacement on his left leg and an open hip reduction on his right. The staff here is so kind and caring and I’m so grateful they took such amazing care of me and my dog Navy through the entire process!! Thank you everyone!!
Mar 26, 2025 · Whitney SimmonsGranite vet is amazing! My 4 month old kitten just had surgery on her growth plate in her foot and she is healing so well! Dr Corbin is thorough, detailed, and professional. The front desk has excellent customer service. I love that they got straight to the point and didn’t try to charge me anything unexpected or not necessary. I appreciate everything they did for my kitten.
Dec 30, 2024 · gabby balderramaI cannot thank the techs and Dr.Becker enough for helping us out with Pirate. They took a growth plate and screws out of his leg that was causing him constant infections and it didn’t entirely break the bank like his first surgery did when he broke him leg. We’re very grateful for this clinic and how understanding and caring they are. That plate was huge! No wonder it bothered him so much. Veterinarians and their vet techs are extremely appreciated in our house and we hope they have great days. :)
