Years ago my beloved horse became sick with something now called “pigeon fever”. He had a severe case that went on for 2 yrs. Scott tried everything he could think of and was constantly having to remove abcesses the size of baseballs, full of pus from Blitz’s chest. He tried every antibiotic and procedure only to have it come back after the treatment. Scott NEVER gave up. Eventually he called California where they were having many cases. (Blitz was only the 2nd in Utah). He gave him a course of Rafampin (a drug used on human TB patients) that would penetrate the abscess walls so that the heavy antibiotics could get in and do their job. The cost of a horse dose for that long was $2,000. Scott got it for $800.00. Scott never gave up-even when I almost did. I’ve had many horses in my life, but Blitz was that one-the one I connected with in every way. We had A bond that was unbelievable. I didn’t use the reins-we just read each other. I had 23 beautiful yrs with him thanks to Scott Taylor’s dedication to finding a way. His kindness, brilliance, and care are phenomenal. Best vet ever and a great human being. I will never forget his determination to fix my beautiful black beauty for me.

The testimonials from Golden Spike Equine Hospital's clients highlight a deep commitment to equine health, particularly showcasing the dedication and expertise of Dr. Scott Taylor. One particularly moving review recounts a pet owner's experience with their beloved horse, Blitz, who suffered from a severe two-year case of "pigeon fever." The owner details how Dr. Taylor relentlessly pursued a solution, tirelessly working to manage the condition by removing abscesses and trying various antibiotics and procedures, even when the ailment seemed to recur after each treatment. This demonstrates an exceptional level of perseverance and commitment to the well-being of the animal.

The review further illustrates Dr. Taylor's proactive approach to complex medical challenges. When conventional treatments proved insufficient, he reached out to California, where more cases of this particular condition were being observed. This initiative led to the discovery of a treatment involving Rafampin, a human tuberculosis drug, which could penetrate the abscess walls, allowing heavy antibiotics to be effective. The owner also noted Dr. Taylor's efforts to secure this costly medication at a significantly reduced price, highlighting his concern for the financial burden on the client alongside his dedication to finding the right treatment. The profound bond between the owner and their horse, Blitz, and the owner's near despair, underscore the immense gratitude felt towards Dr. Taylor for his unwavering determination, which ultimately led to 23 wonderful years with their cherished animal.
