Gate Way Equine Veterinary Introduce

For pet owners in Wentzville, Missouri, and the surrounding areas, Gate Way Equine Veterinary, located at 1531 Wentzville Pkwy, presents itself as a local option for veterinary care under the platform category "Pet Hospital Near Me." The available customer reviews offer a starkly contrasting perspective on the services provided at this facility, particularly concerning the types of animals treated and the quality of care received. Therefore, an objective introduction must present both the positive and negative feedback to provide a balanced view for potential local users.

One long-term client expresses a high degree of trust and respect for Dr. Finke and her staff, stating that Dr. Finke has been their veterinarian since 1996. This positive review highlights nearly three decades of entrusting the care of their show horses, breeding horses, and dogs to this practice. The client explicitly recommends Dr. Finke and expresses total trust in her support and care. This testimonial suggests a strong, established relationship and satisfaction with the veterinary services provided over an extended period, particularly in the realm of equine care, and indicates a level of confidence in the veterinarian's expertise and the staff's professionalism, at least within this client's experience.

However, a significantly contrasting and highly critical review details a severely negative experience with the care provided to a young puppy with a broken leg. This reviewer explicitly states they will never return and strongly discourages others from bringing any animal other than a horse to this clinic. The criticisms leveled against Gate Way Equine Veterinary are extensive and include allegations of a "cold, rude, impatient, uncaring, insensitive, dirty, unorganized, out-of-date and out-of-touch facility, management & staff." These are serious accusations that paint a concerning picture of the clinic's environment and the professionalism of its team, particularly in their interactions with a distressed pet owner and the handling of a vulnerable animal.

The negative review further elaborates on the alleged neglect in properly caring for and treating the puppy's injury. The reviewer claims that Gate Way Veterinary used the wrong type of splint or support for the puppy's broken tibia, which was reportedly an "easy fix" for an eight-week-old pup according to the clinic's initial assessment. This alleged misdiagnosis and improper treatment are said to have doubled the recovery time and increased the risk of amputation or bone graft surgery, ultimately costing the pet owner significantly more in subsequent veterinary care at a different facility. The detailed account of the incorrect splint usage and its negative consequences raises serious questions about the clinic's competence in treating small animal orthopedic injuries.

The reviewer also criticizes the clinic's handling of sedation, claiming that the new veterinarian was able to sedate and wake the puppy quickly for treatment, unlike Gate Way. Furthermore, there is an accusation of the puppy being unnecessarily kept overnight in a "cold facility" without a properly fitting splint. The reviewer recounts the puppy shaking and trembling, expressing a strong feeling that the animal was traumatized during its overnight stay. Allegations of a dirty and unorganized environment further contribute to the negative portrayal of the clinic's standards of hygiene and operational efficiency.

Adding to the severity of the claims, the reviewer describes rude and snappy behavior from the staff, including eye-rolling, and alleges being expected to act as a veterinary technician by holding down the injured puppy for bandaging without anesthesia or pain medication. There is also a dispute regarding being charged for overnight care and sedation that the reviewer believes were not appropriately provided, suggesting potential issues with billing transparency and ethical practices. The overall sentiment is one of deep regret for having chosen Gate Way Equine Veterinary for their puppy's care and a strong warning to other pet owners to seek alternative veterinary services for their non-equine animals, emphasizing the potential for financial burden, prolonged suffering for the pet, and emotional distress for the owner.

Considering these two diametrically opposed reviews, it is crucial for local users searching for a "Pet Hospital Near Me" to weigh these experiences carefully. The positive review indicates a long-standing trust and satisfaction, primarily in the context of equine care and also extending to dogs for one client. This suggests that Gate Way Equine Veterinary may indeed have expertise and a positive track record in treating horses and perhaps some experience with canine care, building strong relationships with clients over time.

However, the detailed and highly critical review raises significant concerns about the standard of care, particularly for small animals like puppies. The allegations of misdiagnosis, improper treatment, a dirty and unorganized facility, and unprofessional staff behavior should not be dismissed lightly. The stark contrast between the two reviews may suggest a disparity in the quality of care depending on the type of animal being treated or perhaps inconsistencies in the service provided, potentially indicating a specialization that does not extend effectively to all types of pets.

Given the limited information and the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is impossible to provide a definitive assessment of the environment, services, features, or any potential promotional information for Gate Way Equine Veterinary. The positive review highlights Dr. Finke's long-term experience and the trust built over decades with at least one client, suggesting a potential feature of experienced veterinary care, particularly for horses. However, the negative review directly contradicts this, describing an "out-of-date and out-of-touch facility" and questioning the competence of the staff in treating a puppy despite the clinic's claimed "30+ yrs experience."

There is no mention of specific services offered beyond general veterinary care in either review. Potential services at a pet hospital could include routine check-ups, vaccinations, surgery, dental care, emergency services, and specialized treatments. However, the negative review casts doubt on the quality and appropriateness of at least some of these services, particularly for non-equine animals, raising concerns about the level of expertise and resources available for diverse pet needs. Similarly, no information regarding any unique features or promotional offers is available from these reviews.

In conclusion, for local users seeking a "Pet Hospital Near Me" in Wentzville, MO, Gate Way Equine Veterinary at 1531 Wentzville Pkwy presents a complex picture based on the available online reviews. While one long-term client expresses strong trust and satisfaction with Dr. Finke's care for horses and dogs over nearly three decades, another provides a scathing account of alleged neglect, misdiagnosis, and unprofessional conduct in the treatment of a puppy. Potential clients should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and perhaps seek additional information or testimonials, especially if they are seeking care for animals other than horses. Contacting Gate Way Equine Veterinary directly at (636) 639-6888 or +1 636-639-6888 for more information about their services, environment, and staff, and potentially seeking second opinions or alternative veterinary care options, may be prudent steps in making an informed decision about their pet's health and well-being.

I will never be taking my animals to this vet. Cold, rude, impatient, uncaring, insensitive, dirty, unorganized, out-of-date and out-of-touch facility, management & staff. I encourage others to find a different place to care for anything other than a horse. She has put my fur baby & family in such a state of crisis due to her neglect to properly care and treat for the injury my pup has. My pup broke her back left tibia at 8wks old and I brought her to this facility because she was only one available at the time and because we had used her in the past as her rates were lower. I now know that it doesn’t save money to bring a pet to this place. It has actually cost me double and the road my dog has still got to travel is double due to the vets neglect. Gateway vet used the wrong type of splint/support for my pup with the type of unjury she has. And this place has 30+ yrs experience?!?! What should have been an easy fix for an 8wk pup (reassured by gateway vet) and quick recovery is now more than doubled and we are at risk for amputation or a bone graft surgery. The new vet has saved all records and the prior splints used for future reference. The new vet has cared in ways I couldn’t get from this facility. The new vet was able to sedate my pup and wake her in a brief amount of time when needed for treatment unlike gateway. Gateway insisted on keeping her in their cold facility overnight because she didn’t even have a splint to fit her at the time they told me it was ok to bring her for initial treatment. My dog has done nothing but shake and tremble since this first visit and I can’t shake the feeling that she was tortured while being held overnight. This place is dirty, unorganized and rude. They had an attitude and snapped at me while rolling their eyes because I was apparently supposed to play the part of vet tech and hold my pup down for her to wrap my dog without anesthesia or pain meds at best on the so-called surgery table!!! Her comments were rude and snappy. She has zero patience and zero sensitivity towards the animal in pain or the owner in panic. She didn’t need to keep my dog overnight and I shouldn’t have been charged for it when they told me to come in just prior to closing time at 1pm. and told me they could treat her but they didn’t even have the supplies and didn’t have the patience to spend any time on her since they were about to close. Not my problem or my dogs, that they are running a prehistoric business with an unprepared team and hardly anything needed for treatment. The new vet said that there’s no reason the splint used should have been used for this type of injury and it’s set us back to ground zero. I feel that I should get my money back to go towards the care that I sought out for my pup elsewhere, which was ultimately the best thing for her. I wish I had never brought her to this place and I only hope that I can prevent others from doing the same. If you love your fur babies, go elsewhere. This place will rob you for crappy service and even crappier management & staff. And for services rendered that are never used. Such as sedation. I feel my dog shakes because she was traumatized in there.i don’t believe they used anesthesia when treating her but I definitely got charged for it. Such an unfair start in life for such a young pup. Save yourself and your pets the money, pain and hassle. Pay more and get more. It sucks but definitely worth it to find better than this place.

If you’re looking for a vet that’s going to coddle you, this isn’t the place for you, but… if your looking for a vet that will give excellent care, quick service and reasonable prices… you found your vet!!

I had a eye issue with my horse. I was able to bring her there and the vet was very thorough and helpful. With daily meds she's comfortable and on her way to somewhat of a recovery. Love the vet and the staff I will be back.

Marilyn was recommended to us from several people and she did not disappoint. Fair warning, she can be direct and get straight to the point, but what she lacks in bedside manner, she makes up for with knowledge and expertise. Not only is she a master at her skill, but she is also extremely reasonable with her fee's when compared to other vets in the area-- which we absolutely LOVE!
