If I could leave less than 1 star I would. We boarded our German shepard pup for 3 days (they charged us for 4) and she lost 7lbs! They claim she was stressed from the other dogs (our dog has no issues with other dogs whatsoever), the woman who works in back tried to tell us that our dog "charged the cage and began barking at her" and that we should be careful because she's a German. Not only did she stigmatize our dog but basically tried to tell us she was aggressive when she is not! When they were fetching our paperwork, another woman beside us said they called her and told her that her dog was stressed too and had diarrhea! And that wasn't even the worst part, we were lead back to the kennels (more like jail cells) and our poor dog was laying in her own urine! When she opened the cage door our dog was clearly frightened and what broke our hearts the most was that our baby girl didn't even recognize us. Once the woman left the kennels to get her collar (because they removed it and misplaced it), our girl popped back to her usual excitable self but fell back in stress when the woman came back. We are currently driving home with her and she has not stopped whining since we left. I am so angry and appalled by this whole thing and regret ever bringing our girl there. If you love your fur baby DO NOT bring them to Gasow to have them boarded!!

Gasow Veterinary Hospital: Thompson Jocelyn DVM Introduce

Welcome to the introduction of Gasow Veterinary Hospital: Thompson Jocelyn DVM, located at 36877 Woodward Ave, Birmingham, MI 48009, USA. Operating under the platform category of 'Pet Hospital', this clinic, associated with Dr. Thompson, appears to offer a range of services for pet owners in the Birmingham area. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the potential environment, services, features, and insights gleaned from customer reviews to help local users make informed decisions about their pet care needs.

Based on the customer reviews, the environment and facilities at Gasow Veterinary Hospital seem to elicit contrasting experiences. One detailed negative review describes the boarding kennels as being akin to "jail cells" and notes that a boarded dog was found lying in its own urine. This paints a concerning picture of the cleanliness and care provided in the boarding area, at least during the specific instance described. The reviewer also mentions their dog appeared frightened and did not initially recognize them upon being released from the kennel, suggesting a stressful environment for the animal during its stay.

Conversely, a long-term customer expresses strong satisfaction with the care received at Gasow Veterinary Hospital over 50 years and more than 75 visits. This suggests that the clinic has provided positive experiences for many pet owners over an extended period. The reviewer specifically mentions the range of services received, from routine health checkups to major surgery, indicating that the hospital is equipped to handle both preventative and more complex medical needs.

The services offered at Gasow Veterinary Hospital, as indicated by the reviews, appear to be diverse. The mention of boarding suggests that the clinic provides overnight or short-term care for pets. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the quality of this service. The positive review explicitly mentions health checkups and major surgery, indicating that the hospital offers routine wellness care as well as surgical procedures. This implies the presence of surgical facilities and the expertise to perform various types of operations. While not directly mentioned, it is reasonable to assume that a veterinary hospital offering these services would also provide diagnostic procedures, vaccinations, dental care, and treatment for illnesses and injuries.

Features of Gasow Veterinary Hospital seem to include the experience of the veterinary staff, as highlighted by the long-term positive review spanning five decades. This suggests a level of established practice and potentially a deep understanding of animal health care. The ability to perform major surgery indicates the presence of necessary medical equipment and skilled veterinary surgeons. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the staff's handling of boarded animals, communication with owners (regarding the dog's stress and weight loss), and potentially their demeanor (the "stigmatizing" comment). The discrepancy between the two reviews underscores the importance of considering multiple perspectives.

The negative review also touches upon potential issues with billing practices, as the customer was charged for four days of boarding despite only using three. This highlights the importance of verifying billing accuracy when using their services.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for Gasow Veterinary Hospital: Thompson Jocelyn DVM in the provided reviews. Veterinary hospitals may offer various promotions, such as discounts on initial visits, wellness packages, or seasonal offers. You may also find information on their website or social media channels if they have them.

In conclusion, Gasow Veterinary Hospital: Thompson Jocelyn DVM in Birmingham, MI, is a 'Pet Hospital' that appears to offer a range of veterinary services, including boarding, health checkups, and surgery. While one long-term customer expresses strong satisfaction with the care received over many years, a recent negative review raises significant concerns about the conditions and care provided during boarding, as well as potential issues with staff communication and billing. Local users should carefully consider these contrasting experiences when making decisions about their pet's care and may want to inquire specifically about their boarding facilities and protocols if considering this service. For the most up-to-date information on their services, capabilities, and any promotions, direct communication with the hospital is advised.

I have gone to numerous veterinary clinics over the last 50 years and I have become an avid fan of the care all my pets have received at Gassow’s. I have never had a negative issue and am extremely grateful for the treatment and support provided for my pets and myself. The range of services has been from health checkups to major surgery spread over more than 75 visits.

I hate naming names, but Barb at the front desk needs to retire or find another profession that doesn't require customer service. Whether it is in person or on the phone, she is rude and unpleasant to speak with. We have been bringing our dogs to Gasow for over 16 years now and if it weren't for the great vets or vet techs we would have stopped using their services after our first visit. The owner needs to have a serious conversation with her on her attitude.

My two dogs receive the best of care here. And we don't need an appointment. Terrific bed side manner with the vet. They take time to explain what's going on.
