Apr 29, 2025 · Shu SalimI love this place, the doctors are very kind and very gentle with my pets. The employees are very sweet as well, prices are great and most of the time you can schedule an appointment the same day or the next day. Just recently found this baby wondering near my house, doctor was very gentle with her and she started looking like a new kitten the very next day! So thankful for them seeing me last minute.

Nov 13, 2023 · Themia HyatteMy cat required emergency surgery from another hospital within 30-40 minutes after being released from this place. This was my first experience with this pet hospital; it was characterized by several mistakes by the hospital staff. My family scheduled a spay for our cat, however when i arrive I'm told that I don't have an appointment. I assure them so they check using the phone number we left on file and they find that there is an appointment under that phone number except it's been incorrectly listed under someone else's name, someone I've never heard of. Mistakes happen though, and they'll honor the appointment so I don't think anything of it. They take my cat and I'm told they will call me to notify me when the procedure is completed and my pet is ready for pickup. I never receive a call, and it's nearing the hospitals closing time so I call to ask for an update. The person on the phone begins laughing and says, "...my coworker must have forgot to call you.". She then says they're closing but she'll be there for a few more minutes so if I hurry I can pick my cat up. I get to the hospital in time but have to wait about 10-15 minutes as the cats pain medication isn't ready (just another thing they forgot maybe?). They don't tell me what the medication is called and the penmanship is illegible (the vets I subsequently took the cat too couldn't make out what the name of the medication was either) I drive home, open the carrier and the cat is still visibly affected by the anesthesia and pain medication (shaking, moving very slowly and weakly. I place some food and water for her, and leave the room for about 20-25 minutes. In that time, she somehow got the cone off, and opened the suture causing tissue from her stomach cavity to spill out. I want to be clear I understand this can happen and it's why they're meant to wear the cone, but I don't understand how a 5lb cat still experiencing the effects of the surgery was able to remove the cone so quickly and easily after arriving home, when I returned she was laying still and not active. I call the animal hospital for guidance but they've closed (remember they "forgot" to notify me earlier in the day) and so I have no recourse but take the cat to an emergency hospital. Later the vet at the 2nd hospital calls me and mentions that cones are secured using strings or similar material and that she checked to make certain the cat hadn't ingested it which the vet assures me the cat didn't. I then search the room to see if I can find the string but I never find it, which has me wondering whether the garvey hospital "forgot" to secure the cone, along with the other mistakes they made throughout the day; hard to say. The vet at the emergency hospital informs me they checked the work of the spay from earlier in the day and that they found pieces of what is potentially ovary or fallopian tube left behind, and explain that it was unusual; they took photos of the tissue for proof though I've not got those just yet to add to this review since I just got off the phone with them and am writing this review. I am including images of the cat's open sutures. Needless to say I'm frustrated. Again, I understand that an animal opening sutures is a possibility, but given the previous mistakes the office made, and what the second hospital mentioned to me, it's hard for me not to wonder whether the reason a 5lb cat still under the lingering effects of anesthesia and pain killers was able to do so because the cone wasn't properly secured, and that I wasn't able to get further instructions from Garvey Pet Hospital because they failed to inform me that I could pick the cat up earlier, which would have meant this could have potentially occured while they were still open. Fortunately my cat's 2nd surgery of today went smoothly and, so long as she resists any potential infections in the coming days, this will just be a very expensive lesson to stay away Garvey Hospital. A $275 spay turned into about $1900-$2600 and 2 surgeries in 1 very difficult day for my 1 year old cat.
