We started bringing our cats here when our regular vet moved over here from another clinic. I like this place quite a bit. It has a decent sized waiting room and there is always plenty of parking. They are really prompt and on time with their appointments, and they try to keep a time slot open for any emergencies every day which I appreciate. The staff has always been great when I go in: very polite, very efficient. When we call the renew prescriptions it's a pain-free process.

Dr. Mitchell prescribed my dog steroids and an antibiotic when he had ringworm. I later learned that steroids often make ringworm worse in dogs. Dr. Mielke prescribed my dog 3 months of compounded itraconazole (generic compounded powder). Two weeks into treatment I learned that compounded itraconazole should not be given to dogs and can cause toxicity if given long term. This is well known in the veterinary field. I have made a complaint to the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board about Dr. Mielke prescribing this medication. I'm not sure how these doctors practice medicine so carelessly but I will not be trusting them with a pet of mine again.

I have been going to this clinic for many years off and on I can't say enough about the staff and the veterinarians. I have the utmost faith in and respect for Doctor Hawkins. I drive 2 hours and back because I am so comforted by the care they show the animals.

We saw Olivia Roth-Carter with Bridgetown Vet Hospital for our 13-year old chihuahua who had bloody diarrhea. Bridgetown had previously diagnosed IBS and liver cancer 1.5 years ago and recommended euthenasia, but we decided to try to make him comfortable with diet modification. Bridgetown this time reminded us of Lucky’s liver cancer and recommended chest x-rays and further testing. Because Lucky was so uncomfortable and could't control his bowels, we took him to his regular vet, Dr. Hawkins at Gabriel Park, for euthanasia. Dr. Hawkins made a brief exam and said Lucky’s cancer and IBS was not causing the problem and she prescribed antibiotics which cured the problem in 24 hours. Lucky is back to normal, cheering up the relieved residents at his assisted living facility.
