Dr. Robert Schmurr did an amazing job on our girl Amara. She needed TPLO surgery after a CCL tear. The staff was quick to get us scheduled for surgery & helped us every step of the way. We saved thousands of dollars by choosing Dr. Schmurr. Amara healed up quickly & hasn't had any problems since. Special shout-out to Alex, at the front desk. Such a wonderful, compassionate, knowledge, & patient lady. You are lucky to have her on your team! The staff also got us in last minute after our newly adopted stray kitten, Crash, became ill. After extensive tests & x-rays, we found out he had congenital kidney failure. The staff was incredibly compassionate during this difficult time & let us spend as much time as we needed with him before letting him pass over the rainbow bridge. The staff even sent us a condolence card with his paw prints, signed by all the staff members. I will never forget the kindness from everyone that day & will cherish those little paw prints forever. They took amazing care of our 5 animals when we lived in Colorado. If we hadn't moved to a different state I would continue going to this clinic!

The services offered at Fountain Valley Animal Hospital are extensive, catering to a wide range of needs for your furry, scaled, or feathered friends. Based on the customer reviews, the hospital demonstrates proficiency in several key areas:
Surgical Services: One of the standout services highlighted is surgical expertise, particularly in orthopedic procedures. Dr. Robert Schmurr is specifically mentioned for performing an "amazing job" on a dog named Amara who required Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery after a Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) tear. This complex procedure was reportedly scheduled quickly, and the staff provided comprehensive support throughout the process. Furthermore, the review indicates significant cost savings compared to other options, making quality surgical care more accessible.
Emergency and Critical Care: Fountain Valley Animal Hospital is also recognized for its ability to handle urgent and critical situations. A customer recounted their experience with a newly adopted stray kitten, Crash, who became ill. The clinic accommodated them last minute and conducted thorough tests, including x-rays, to diagnose congenital kidney failure. The staff's compassionate response during this emotionally challenging time is particularly noteworthy. They allowed the owners to spend ample time with their pet and even sent a condolence card with Crash's paw prints, signed by the entire team – a testament to their empathy and dedication to client support.
General Wellness and Preventative Care: While not explicitly detailed, the positive reviews from long-term clients who entrusted the hospital with the care of multiple animals suggest a strong foundation in general wellness and preventative care. The fact that a former client, who moved out of state, expressed a desire to continue bringing their five animals to the clinic speaks volumes about the quality of ongoing care they received.
Senior Pet Care: Another area of expertise appears to be the care of senior pets with complex health needs. One customer expressed immense satisfaction after switching to Fountain Valley Animal Hospital for their older dog who had undergone unsuccessful surgery elsewhere and was on multiple medications. The veterinarian's thorough review of the pet's history prior to the consultation and their kind and hopeful demeanor left a lasting positive impression. This indicates a commitment to understanding individual patient needs and providing tailored care, especially for pets with pre-existing conditions.
Compassionate End-of-Life Care: The experience with the ill kitten, Crash, underscores the hospital's commitment to providing compassionate end-of-life care. Their sensitivity and support during a difficult time, including allowing owners to spend quality time with their pet and the thoughtful gesture of the condolence card with paw prints, demonstrate a deep understanding of the emotional bond between pets and their owners.
Exceptional Staff: A recurring theme in the customer reviews is the professionalism, kindness, and knowledge of the staff. Alex at the front desk is specifically praised for being "wonderful, compassionate, knowledgeable, & patient." Dec 09, 2024 · AspenI am so very happy that we changed vets!! I have an older dog that had an unsuccessful surgery and is now on several meds. From the phone call to the visit, everyone was polite and professional. The vet was so very kind and had even reviewed my pups info before entering the room. She thanked us for doing so much for our Chip and taking such good care of him. No one has ever made us feel so hopeful. Thank you!!
Nov 13, 2024 · J MRLove love love this place. I have 3 dogs and it is hard enough taking them all into vet appts. But when they do not like the vet it is almost impossible to get them in the door. Not here. They all walk in just fine. The staff and both Dr's. They have seen are great answer questions and take concerns seriously. So glad I found this place.
Apr 19, 2025 · angela blaylockTerrible service I lost my dog and took him there for cremation April 2nd with clay paw print. Over a month (May 8 )later still no paw print. Was ever called till I reached out. 5 weeks going on 6 weeks later still nothing! GO ELSEWHERE PERIOD if you want prompt service with compassion. I feel blown off and to find out my dogs paw print is in Loveland Co is bullshit.
May 08, 2025 · Jen MWe are done here. Over the last few years my dog has been a patient here. In those few years he was given the wrong dose of steroids and almost taken in for a knee surgery that he didn't need. The old owners sold out to a corporate office and left the country leaving a new set of vets and staff. I saw one of them today. She was short and rude with me speaking very quickly and seemingly without care for me or my dog. She didn't ask about allergies as she starts feeding my dog treats. As he begins misbehaving she seems nervous to listen to my request to remove the treats. You will not feel heard at this office. This clinic also lost my dogs rabies vaccine information from last year causing me to have to get another. I'm so sick of vets looking at you like a walking wallet and then getting frustrated when you are concerned about the bill. Enough is enough. On another note they have a verbal abuse warning at the front desk. They wouldn't need that if they ran a respectful and competent office. Sounds like they have had a few angry customers come through here in the past. Go somewhere else, this place's reputation is true. Do better. **Edit** A week has gone by since I wrote this, nervously waiting on a cancer screening. I called back in for the results and was informed they would be emailed to me and my dogs records will be sent to me in the mail. They will not see my dog anymore. Looks like they are more conceded with their reputation than caring for our companions. See ya FVAH it hasn't been a pleasure.
