Foster Veterinary Clinic, located at 9 Cucumber Hill Rd, Foster, RI 02825, USA, is a dedicated "Pet Hospital" committed to providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats in the local community. Owned by Dr. Stacey Hattan, DVM, since October 2000, the clinic aims to build lasting relationships with pet owners, offering a wide array of services and goods designed to support the health and well-being of companion animals throughout their lives. The clinic emphasizes quality and compassionate care, striving to be a reliable partner for both routine wellness and the treatment of sick pets.
The environment at Foster Veterinary Clinic is designed to be a place where both pets and their owners feel comfortable and well-cared for. While specific interior aesthetics are not widely detailed, the clinic's mission to build lasting relationships and provide "plenty of patience, compassion, and understanding" suggests a warm and supportive atmosphere. The clinic has been growing, with an expansion underway expected to double its footprint by late 2025, indicating a commitment to improving facilities and accommodating more patients. This expansion likely includes enhanced examination rooms, diagnostic areas, and treatment spaces to provide a more comfortable and efficient experience. A notable feature of their environment and approach is the utilization of specialized equipment, training, and facilities specific to felines, suggesting efforts to create a less stressful environment for cats. The overall aim is to provide a setting where up-to-date knowledge and skills are applied with empathy and professionalism, ensuring pets receive top-quality veterinary care.
Foster Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, addressing a broad spectrum of pet health needs. Their foundational services include robust wellness care, which is vital for maintaining a pet's long-term health. This involves routine wellness exams, ensuring a thorough assessment of a pet's overall health and the early detection of any potential issues. They provide tailored vaccination protocols for both dogs and cats, protecting against common and serious diseases. Parasite control, including prevention for fleas, ticks, and heartworms, is a key component of their preventive care, vital for the health of pets in the region. Nutritional counseling is also offered, helping pet owners make informed decisions about their pet's diet to support optimal health.
Beyond preventive measures, the clinic provides extensive diagnostic capabilities. This includes digital radiology (X-rays) for precise imaging of bones and internal organs, and ultrasound for detailed soft tissue evaluations. They also offer in-house laboratory services for quick and accurate blood tests, urinalysis, and other diagnostic screenings. Surgical services are a significant offering, encompassing a range of procedures from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries. Dentistry is a priority, with comprehensive dental cleanings and procedures aimed at restoring oral health and preventing systemic diseases stemming from dental issues. They are also excited to offer K-Laser therapy, a drug-free, non-invasive method for pain management, reducing inflammation, and enhancing healing for various conditions such as arthritis, wounds, and post-surgical recovery. Additionally, the clinic provides specialized advanced care in areas such as behavior therapy, cardiology, endocrinology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and regenerative medicine (e.g., Canine Platelet Enhancement Therapy), indicating a broad and in-depth approach to various complex medical conditions. They also offer pet hospice and euthanasia services, demonstrating compassion and support during difficult times for pet owners.
Several features distinguish Foster Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Stacey Hattan's practice. Dr. Hattan has owned the clinic since 2000 and has grown the practice from a solo operation to include 3-4 doctors, demonstrating a commitment to expansion and service. Her personal background, including raising livestock and showing horses, and her advanced education from Tufts Veterinary Medical School, suggest a deep-rooted passion for animals and a strong academic foundation. The clinic's stated mission to provide "the most comprehensive veterinary care" for dogs and cats, coupled with their investment in technology like digital radiology, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, and soon a CT scanner, highlights their commitment to staying at the forefront of veterinary medicine. Their specialized facilities for felines, including equipment and training, reflect an understanding of the unique needs of cats and a dedication to reducing stress for their feline patients. The availability of diverse services like behavior therapy, cardiology, and orthopedics showcases their comprehensive approach to addressing various pet health challenges. While some reviews mention challenges with communication and bedside manner, particularly in complex or sensitive situations, other positive reviews highlight helpful vet techs and the overall commitment to pet care. The clinic's participation in programs like CareCredit and Scratchpay further emphasizes their dedication to making veterinary care accessible.
Regarding promotional information, Foster Veterinary Clinic offers several avenues for clients to manage and potentially save on veterinary costs. While specific, short-term discounts are best inquired about directly, the clinic explicitly highlights its acceptance of pet insurance for unexpected accidents and illnesses, encouraging owners to insure their pets while they are still healthy to avoid pre-existing condition exclusions. They also promote "Wellness Plans" offered by some insurance providers, which can help cover the cost of routine health expenses, encouraging proactive care. For clients facing significant veterinary bills for existing medical conditions, Foster Veterinary Clinic accepts treatment financing solutions such as CareCredit and Scratchpay, allowing pet owners to pay for services over time. The clinic also operates an online pharmacy, providing convenient access to prescription medications and foods, which often includes competitive pricing and potential savings through online rebates or AutoShip programs. Their online resources, such as articles on feline behavior, dental health, and healthy food toppers, indirectly serve as promotional tools by demonstrating their expertise and commitment to pet owner education. For the most current and specific promotional offers, including any new patient specials or wellness package details, pet owners are encouraged to contact Foster Veterinary Clinic directly at (401) 397-3473 or +1 401-397-3473, or visit their official website.
