I cannot express my deep admiration enough for the staff here. My 10 yo Aussie suffered from a splenic rupture. For three days the team worked tirelessly for my boy. They took my calls day and night. They arranged for me and my family to spend as much time as possible with him. I laid in that kennel for hours, holding him, talking to him and willing him to get better. Last Saturday, my boy died in mine and my ex partner's arms. They carried him to the family room where we joined him. My sister, brother-in-law and their kids were able to join us to say goodbye. We grieved. Techs and doctors came by to check on us and offer to answer any questions we may have had. We were never rushed to make decisions and were allowed as much time as we needed with him. Doctor Fitzpatrick even recommended a pet grief counselor to us. When I say these people did everything they could for my boy, I mean EVERYTHING. Losing him has left a chasm in my heart. But I am steadied by the knowledge that he was loved and cared for by such incredible people to his very last moments. Thank you.

Welcome to Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital

Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital, situated at 816 S Lemay Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80524, USA, is a vital institution operating within the "Pet Hospital" category, providing essential 24/7 emergency and urgent veterinary care. This facility is a critical resource for pet owners in Fort Collins and surrounding areas, offering immediate and expert medical attention for pets facing life-threatening illnesses or injuries. The hospital's mission is unequivocally focused on delivering prompt, highly skilled, and profoundly compassionate care during times of crisis, ensuring that pets receive the best possible chance at recovery and that families are supported through difficult moments.

The environment at Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital is uniquely tailored to the demands of emergency medicine, prioritizing efficiency, advanced medical capabilities, and, crucially, a supportive atmosphere for worried pet owners. While the intense nature of emergency care means the environment is geared towards rapid response, the facility strives to balance this with a sense of calm and openness. Unlike traditional veterinary clinics, an emergency hospital often operates with a high level of transparency, as indicated by similar emergency veterinary models that feature open layouts allowing owners to be present with their pets. This means that while state-of-the-art equipment and specialized treatment areas are paramount, there is also a conscious effort to make families feel included and informed throughout the critical care process. The reviews from real customers vividly paint a picture of an environment where empathy is interwoven with medical expertise. The staff ensures that families have ample time and space to be with their pets, even in intensive care settings or during final goodbyes in a dedicated family room. This compassionate approach to the environment helps alleviate the immense stress and grief that often accompany emergency situations, making a highly challenging experience as bearable as possible for human companions.

The services offered by Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital are specialized and comprehensive, entirely dedicated to emergency and critical care. This means they are equipped to handle a wide array of severe conditions that require immediate veterinary intervention. Services include rapid and thorough triage evaluations, advanced diagnostics such as digital radiography and ultrasound, and emergency surgical procedures for conditions like splenic rupture, gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), pyometra, and various traumatic injuries. They also provide comprehensive medical management for critical ailments, including seizures, toxic ingestions, severe vomiting/diarrhea, and respiratory distress. The hospital maintains an in-house laboratory for quick and accurate blood analysis and other diagnostic tests, which are crucial for rapid decision-making in emergency situations. Beyond the immediate medical and surgical interventions, Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital also offers continuous monitoring and hospitalization for critically ill or injured pets. Their team is prepared to treat a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, pocket pets, and exotics, underscoring their broad expertise in emergency scenarios. A significant aspect of their service, highlighted by customer testimonials, is their dedicated and compassionate approach to end-of-life care, providing support and allowing families to say goodbye in a peaceful and dignified manner, even recommending grief counseling when appropriate.

The distinguishing features of Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital largely revolve around its specialized nature and the exceptional quality of its staff. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, is perhaps its most critical feature, providing an indispensable safety net for pet owners when their regular veterinarians are closed. This round-the-clock availability for emergencies and urgent care ensures that no pet in crisis is left without immediate attention. The hospital is AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) and feline-friendly certified, indicating adherence to rigorous standards of veterinary excellence and a commitment to reducing stress for feline patients. A standout characteristic, overwhelmingly praised by clients, is the extraordinary compassion and dedication of the entire staff—from the veterinarians (like Dr. Fitzpatrick mentioned in a review) to the technicians and support personnel. They are described as "incredible people" who "worked tirelessly," took calls "day and night," and were "so kind" and "amazing at what they do." This level of human connection, combined with their medical proficiency, is a rare and invaluable asset in emergency care. The hospital's commitment to transparent communication is also a significant feature; they provide regular updates, send photos, and allow pet owners to spend extensive time with their animals, even in critical care settings. This fosters trust and reduces anxiety for families during intensely stressful times. Furthermore, the provision of support services, such as recommending pet grief counselors, demonstrates their holistic approach to care, acknowledging the emotional toll that pet emergencies take on owners. They prioritize making families feel "never rushed to make decisions" and allowing "as much time as needed," which is deeply appreciated during such vulnerable moments.

Given its role as an emergency hospital, traditional promotional information like discounts or routine wellness packages is not its primary focus. Instead, Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital's most powerful "promotional" aspect is its consistent delivery of lifesaving care and profound compassion, as evidenced by the heartfelt testimonials of grateful pet owners. The very nature of their service—being available when no one else is, and delivering care that goes above and beyond—serves as its strongest endorsement. For local users, the knowledge that such a dedicated and capable facility exists provides immense peace of mind. While specific campaigns may not be run, the hospital's reputation for acting swiftly, communicating transparently, and supporting families emotionally is continuously built through every interaction. Pet owners are encouraged to note their contact information: phone (970) 484-8080 or mobile +1 970-484-8080. In an emergency, calling ahead to let them know you are on your way can help them prepare for your pet's arrival and potentially offer initial guidance. Their commitment to being open "Evenings, Weekends & Holidays" is a direct promotion of their accessibility and critical role in the community's pet healthcare infrastructure. Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital is not just a service provider; it is a vital lifeline for pets and their families in their most urgent times of need, representing the pinnacle of emergency veterinary care in the Fort Collins area.

The amazing people at this hospital saved my dogs life. They are so passionate about the care they provide. They wasted no time in getting my dog back and evaluated. They called me regularly and sent photos with updates and were so kind. They are amazing at what they do.

The team is amazing! We live 2 hours away and Krissy was absolutely phenomenal. Dude, we were so, so worried about our pup who fell down the stairs. We thought he broke his leg and they were so amazing with keeping us informed and made sure we understood everything they were going to do! They were so kind, so loving and so absolutely understanding! You can tell they have so much love for their clients and even more for the animals. Please, please go to them. You WILL NOT be disappointed. We left knowing our pup was fully taken care of. We drove 2 HOURS and I guarantee we'd do it again and again with the kind of service we got from the whole team. Much love Krissy! Thank you all for such an amazing experience. Pacho is doing much better and we thank you for everything!

My dog came into the ER after eating a whole bag of dark chocolate and I cannot thank the staff enough for their hard work to get my dog back to normal! Especially thanks to Brynn, who had their last day today and did what she could to help cover the cost of my vet bill. As a student, she understood how hard it is to afford bills and she graciously donated her friends and family discount to me since it was her last day and she couldn’t use it after that. Thank you so much again to everyone who helped waffles get back on his feet!

In an unexpected turn of events and decline of my pets health, I was assisted kindly and gently with spending the last hours with my pet. Quiet time alone provided with amenities to help me process and cope with next steps, but ever ready to assist and answer questions. And once the final step was taken, I was allowed to spend as much time with my pet as I wanted. No rush/no hurry. The most kind, respectful, and helpful group of vets and techs who assisted me with the most difficult and painful experience of losing my pet. I'm forever grateful!
