(Cat) We went to this vet for about a year and had a $3000 ear surgery scheduled. He was put under. Cut open and sent back home to us with supposed surgery done. We had no worry really. Fast forward two years to now and we have a new vet. She’s amazing and newly certified and is a family friend. She examined him and we found out after a thorough ear exam she told us that it was either not done at all (just cut open and stitched back up) or it was done so incorrectly that now my sweet boy is stuck with a never ending chronic ear infection that we have to maintenance daily. Like when I say his ears are FILLED with you know the yucky stuff im not joking. Daily cleanings. He has califlower ear on both so surgery is no longer an option anymore bc of so much scar tissue. Picture below shows his one ear state now. It’s supposed to be open and clear after surgery Five points is fine I guess but too over priced and not trustworthy

The clinic strives to provide a calm, welcoming, and friendly environment to ensure a comfortable experience for both pets and their owners. As a "Pet Hospital," the facility is designed to offer a safe and clean space for animal examinations, treatments, and procedures. This commitment to creating a low-stress atmosphere is particularly crucial for pets, especially those who may experience anxiety during vet visits. The facility's design and the staff's approach are geared towards making each visit as positive as possible, fostering a sense of ease for the animals in their care. The team at Five Point Vet Services includes experienced veterinarians, Dr. Heinnickel and Dr. Schimizzi-DeFelice, who are committed to pet health and well-being. They emphasize their dedication to providing excellent care and striving to accommodate clients' busy schedules for appointments.
Five Point Vet Services boasts a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, catering to a diverse range of animal health needs. Their offerings include, but are not limited to:
- General Wellness and Preventative Care: This encompasses routine check-ups, thorough physical examinations, and tailored vaccination programs. These are crucial for ensuring pets maintain optimal health throughout their lives, allowing for early detection of potential issues and preventing the onset of serious diseases.
- Emergency Veterinary Care: The clinic provides essential emergency services for urgent medical situations, offering critical support when pets require immediate attention. This vital service ensures that pet owners in the New Alexandria community have a reliable resource for unexpected health crises.
- Surgical Services: Five Point Vet Services performs various surgical procedures, including routine spay/neuter operations, soft tissue surgeries, and potentially more advanced procedures. They prioritize patient safety and comfort throughout all surgical interventions.
- Dental Care: Oral health is a critical component of a pet's overall well-being. The clinic offers comprehensive dental services, which may include cleanings, extractions, and addressing other dental issues to prevent pain and systemic health problems that can arise from poor oral hygiene.
- Diagnostic Services: To provide accurate diagnoses, the clinic utilizes various diagnostic tools. While specific details on in-house laboratory or imaging capabilities are not fully detailed, "Pet Hospitals" typically offer essential services such as blood work, urinalysis, fecal analysis, and often radiography (X-rays) or ultrasound services to identify underlying health conditions efficiently.
- Microchipping: A crucial service for pet safety, microchip implants provide permanent identification, significantly increasing the chances of a lost pet being reunited with its owner.
- Nutritional Counseling: Expert advice on diet and nutrition is provided, helping owners choose the best food for their pet's age, breed, activity level, and any specific health conditions they may have.
- Flea and Tick Products: The clinic offers a range of preventative and treatment products for common external parasites, emphasizing their importance in maintaining a pet's health and comfort and preventing pest-related diseases.
- Boarding Services: As part of their expanded offerings at the new location, Five Point Vet Services provides boarding facilities, allowing pet owners to have a trusted place for their animals to stay when they are away. The clinic's website encourages potential clients to view their kennel and obtain more information on boarding options.
- Equine and Large Animal Services: Beyond companion animals, Five Point Vet Services also extends its care to larger animals, such as horses and other livestock, indicating a broader scope of practice than some typical small animal hospitals. This makes them a valuable resource for a wider range of animal owners in the region.
Regarding promotional information, while specific discount programs or limited-time offers are not explicitly detailed on publicly available information, "Pet Hospitals" generally engage in several common promotional practices to attract and retain clients:
- New Client Specials: Many clinics offer a reduced first examination fee for new patients to encourage them to experience their services.
- Wellness Plans: These plans often package routine preventative care services (like exams, vaccinations, and sometimes diagnostics) into an annual or monthly payment, providing a discount compared to paying for each service individually.
- Referral Programs: Clients who refer new patients might receive a credit or discount on future services, and the new client may also receive an introductory offer.
- Seasonal Promotions: Clinics often run promotions for specific seasonal health concerns, such as discounted dental cleanings during Dental Health Month or reduced rates for flea/tick prevention during warmer months.
- Online Presence and Engagement: Five Point Vet Services maintains a Facebook page where they post updates on scheduling, share pictures, and offer veterinary recommendations, actively encouraging likes, follows, and shares. This is a common and effective form of promotion and community engagement in today's digital age.
- Flexible Payment Options and Financing: While not a direct discount, accepting various payment methods like CareCredit and Scratchpay can be a significant draw for pet owners, as it helps manage veterinary expenses, particularly for unexpected or costly treatments. The clinic also accepts pet insurance, which is another way for clients to manage the financial aspects of their pet's healthcare.
Customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on Five Point Vet Services, highlighting varied client experiences.
One particularly concerning review details a cat's ear surgery that, according to a subsequent veterinarian, was either performed incorrectly or not at all, leading to chronic ear infections and extensive scar tissue. This client expresses significant dissatisfaction regarding the procedure's outcome, the perceived cost ("too over priced"), and a general feeling of untrustworthiness, implying a potential issue with the quality of some surgical interventions or follow-up care. The reviewer notes that their "sweet boy is stuck with a never ending chronic ear infection that we have to maintenance daily," and that "surgery is no longer an option anymore bc of so much scar tissue." This feedback points to the critical importance of surgical efficacy and patient outcomes.
Conversely, a positive review highlights consistently pleasant experiences with the clinic's staff, from checking in, to the vet techs, and the veterinarians themselves. This client, whose mastiff has been attending the clinic since puppyhood, notes a significant improvement in her dog's anxiety levels, to the point where the dog now "runs inside to greet them." This feedback points to a compassionate and reassuring environment created by the staff, which is crucial for building trust and positive associations for pets during vet visits. The comment about staff being "always so pleasant" indicates strong customer service and a welcoming atmosphere, which are highly valued by pet owners.
In conclusion, Five Point Vet Services positions itself as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" in New Alexandria, PA, offering a wide array of veterinary services for both small and large animals, including emergency care and boarding. While striving to create a comfortable and welcoming environment and employing experienced veterinarians, the clinic's reputation, as reflected in customer reviews, presents a mixed picture. Prospective clients are encouraged to thoroughly research, inquire about specific procedures, and consider all available information to determine if the clinic aligns with their individual pet care needs and expectations.

Nov 13, 2024 · Courtney WickhamMy dog has been going since she was a pup. They're always so pleasant from checking in, to the vet techs, to the vet themselves, we've always had a great experience. My mastiff used to be super anxious and now runs inside to greet them.
