I have to put a review out to this vet clinic. I have never met a more kind vet and vet tech. I texted them Tuesday about my dog Nala they switched appt around to squeeze her in Wednesday, having never seen her before they came to the house spent time with us went over everything. And yesterday I texted them about her condition they came right away after being in sodus all day. Put her to sleep beautifully allowed us time to say goodbye. I had purchased a kit to get my dogs nose print and well it didn't come in time. The vet tech went and got clay took it upon herself to get the print for me and will be dropping it off to me today. They really went above and beyond for me and I really appreciate them more then they know. They are taking over for dr.darby next to sauders so if anyone needs a great vet who is wonderful please go here you won't regret it

Welcome to Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services

Based in the vicinity of NY-96, Phelps, NY 14532, USA, Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services revolutionizes pet care by bringing professional veterinary expertise directly to your doorstep. In an era where convenience and personalized care are highly valued, a mobile veterinary service offers an invaluable alternative to traditional clinic visits, particularly for pets who experience stress in unfamiliar environments, owners with mobility challenges, or those with multiple pets. This service stands out in the Finger Lakes region for its exceptional compassion, flexibility, and commitment to accessible, high-quality care, as enthusiastically attested by numerous grateful clients.

The unique model of a mobile vet means that the "pet hospital" environment is, in essence, the pet's own home, fostering a more relaxed and less intimidating experience for animals. This approach is particularly beneficial for nervous pets, senior animals, multi-pet households, and for providing peaceful end-of-life care in a familiar setting. The heartfelt testimonials from clients highlight not just the convenience, but the profound human-animal bond that Dr. Coover and Allen clearly respect and nurture.

Environment

The "environment" for Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services is the pet's natural habitat – their home, farm, or backyard. This unique setting offers numerous advantages:

  • Stress Reduction: Pets are significantly more comfortable and less anxious in their familiar surroundings, reducing the stress associated with car rides, waiting rooms, and strange smells or sounds of a traditional clinic. This can lead to more accurate physical examinations and better compliance during procedures.
  • Personalized Attention: In a home visit, the focus is entirely on your pet without the distractions or hurried pace of a busy clinic. This allows the vet and vet tech to spend more dedicated time assessing the pet, discussing concerns with the owner, and providing thorough care. As one review notes, they "spent time with us went over everything."
  • Convenience for Owners: For owners with busy schedules, multiple pets, or pets that are difficult to transport, a mobile service eliminates the logistical challenges of clinic visits. It also provides a private and intimate setting for sensitive procedures like euthanasia.
  • Observation in Natural Setting: Veterinarians can observe a pet's behavior and mobility in their everyday environment, which can provide valuable insights into their health that might be missed in a clinic setting.
  • Flexibility for Farm Animals/Outdoor Pets: As evidenced by the story of "Mystery" the farm cat, mobile services are incredibly beneficial for animals who are not accustomed to indoor transport or traditional veterinary settings.

The professional and compassionate demeanor of Dr. Coover and Allen ensures that even though the "clinic" is mobile, the quality of care and the sterile practices remain of the highest standard, adapted to the home environment.

Services

Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services offers a comprehensive range of veterinary care delivered directly to the client's location. While operating on a mobile model, they strive to provide as many services as possible that would typically be found in a traditional clinic, prioritizing preventative care, diagnostics, and compassionate treatment. Their services likely include, but are not limited to:

  • Wellness Exams and Vaccinations: Routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols (e.g., rabies, distemper, leptospirosis, feline leukemia), and preventative parasite control for dogs and cats. This essential care helps maintain long-term health.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: Assessment, diagnosis, and medical management of various acute and chronic conditions, including infections, allergies, gastrointestinal issues, and minor injuries. The clinic demonstrated exceptional flexibility by "squeezing in" a new patient, Nala, and making immediate follow-up visits for her condition, highlighting their commitment to urgent care.
  • Pain Management: Comprehensive strategies for managing chronic pain, particularly for senior pets or those with arthritis, ensuring their comfort and mobility.
  • Microchipping: Providing permanent identification to help reunite lost pets with their families.
  • Basic Laboratory Services: Collection of samples (blood, urine, feces) for in-house or external laboratory analysis to aid in diagnosis and monitoring of health conditions.
  • Medication Dispensing: Dispensing necessary medications directly to the client, simplifying the process of obtaining prescriptions.
  • Health Certificates: Providing health certificates for travel or other purposes, as required.
  • Dietary and Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for various life stages, health conditions, and weight management.
  • Emergency and Urgent Care (within scope): While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, the reviews indicate a strong willingness to accommodate urgent situations, even for unestablished clients, and to make immediate house calls when necessary, as demonstrated with "Mystery" the cat. They likely assess the situation and, if beyond their mobile capabilities, can advise on referral to an emergency facility.
  • Compassionate In-Home Euthanasia: This is a particularly impactful service highlighted in the reviews. Providing the option for pets to pass peacefully in their familiar home environment, surrounded by their loved ones, is a profound act of kindness. The clinic goes "above and beyond" during these sensitive times, offering support like nose prints, demonstrating deep empathy.
  • Follow-up Care: The ongoing communication and willingness to return for follow-up, even after being "in sodus all day," speaks to their dedication to patient outcomes.
Features

Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services distinguishes itself through several exceptional features that contribute to its outstanding reputation and client loyalty:

  • Unmatched Compassion and Kindness: This is the most prominent feature. Both Dr. Coover and Allen, the vet tech, are consistently praised for their "kind," "thoughtful," and "wonderful" demeanor. Their ability to connect with both pets and owners, particularly during difficult times like euthanasia, truly sets them apart.
  • Exceptional Flexibility and Responsiveness: The clinic's willingness to "squeeze in" new, unestablished patients (like Nala and Mystery) and respond "right away" to urgent texts, even after a full day of appointments, demonstrates extraordinary dedication and adaptability. This level of responsiveness for non-established clients is rare and highly valued.
  • Personalized, Unhurried Care: Unlike potentially rushed clinic appointments, mobile visits allow for extended, focused attention on each pet. They "spent time with us went over everything," ensuring all concerns are addressed and owners feel fully informed and supported.
  • Fair and Transparent Pricing: Clients explicitly mention their "pricing is more than fair!" This commitment to affordable and transparent costs, especially for a premium in-home service, is a significant advantage and builds trust.
  • Broad Service Area & Accessibility: While based in Phelps, the "Mobile" aspect means they serve a wider geographical area, making quality veterinary care accessible to pet owners who may live remotely or have difficulty traveling. The reference to "being in sodus all day" confirms their expansive reach.
  • Going Above and Beyond: The anecdote about the vet tech taking it upon herself to get a nose print for Nala when a purchased kit didn't arrive in time is a testament to their exceptional dedication and willingness to exceed expectations, providing comfort and lasting memories during a painful time.
  • Acceptance of Unestablished Clients (Especially in Emergencies): A critical feature for pet owners in rural areas or those new to an area, the willingness to provide care for pets not previously seen by the clinic, particularly in urgent situations, fills a vital gap in veterinary services.

These features collectively paint a picture of a veterinary service that is not just professional and skilled, but deeply empathetic and client-focused, making a profound difference in the lives of pets and their human families.

Promotional Information

While specific, formalized "promotional offers" might not be the primary strategy for a highly sought-after mobile veterinary service, Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services likely promotes itself through its exceptional reputation and the unique benefits it offers. Based on the provided reviews and the nature of mobile vet practices, their promotional avenues and inherent appeals include:

  • Strong Word-of-Mouth Referrals: The glowing testimonials indicate that happy clients are their most effective promoters. The review explicitly states, "if anyone needs a great vet who is wonderful please go here you won't regret it," which is organic, powerful advertising.
  • Emphasis on Convenience and Comfort: Their entire service model is a promotion in itself – providing veterinary care in the comfort and familiarity of the pet's home, eliminating travel stress and clinic anxiety.
  • Highlighting Compassionate End-of-Life Care: The profoundly moving accounts of euthanasia services provided with such empathy and extra touches (like the nose print) are incredibly powerful and draw clients seeking this sensitive support.
  • Accessibility for Urgent Situations: Their willingness to accommodate urgent appointments for both established and unestablished clients, as demonstrated, would be a strong selling point, particularly in areas where emergency vet access might be limited.
  • Transparent and Fair Pricing: Clearly communicating their "more than fair" pricing, even for in-home services, sets them apart and builds trust, attracting clients who value both quality and reasonable cost.
  • Showcasing Client Testimonials: Feature these authentic, heartfelt reviews prominently on their website or social media to build credibility and demonstrate the tangible benefits of their service.
  • Community Integration (Taking over from Dr. Darby): The mention of "taking over for dr.darby next to sauders" indicates a transition of care that can be promoted to ensure continuity for existing patients and attract new ones in that specific community.

For detailed information on their service area, scheduling, pricing, and specific services offered, prospective clients should contact Finger Lakes Mobile Veterinary Services directly at (585) 412-8991 or +1 585-412-8991. Given the personalized nature of mobile services, a direct conversation is often the best way to determine if their offerings align with your pet's needs and your preferences.

Had quite the emergency with our cat Mystery, and was unable to get vet care anywhere around within 40 minutes distance, not even an emergency hospital, because we are not established as clients. We are not established with any vet because Mystery just showed up one day && never left && is more or less an outside farm cat that we got attached to. Anyway, he left for a few days and came home sick. He wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, and was hiding. I pushed fluids with a syringe, and we almost went the euthanasia route just so he didn't suffer, until we came across Dr. Coover & Allen with Finger Lakes Mobile vet service. The conversation was thorough, quick, & they arrived when they said they would. Came in and assessed/treated mystery && had him running around in no time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Not to mention, their pricing is more than fair! Thank you so much for caring for our boy. We appreciate you!

Dr. Dana Coover and her Partner exceeded every exception that I could have ever imagined. My friends dog sadly had to be put down at the end of last year due to cancer. When I called Dr Coover I asked her why her euthanasia was so cheap compared to others and her response was "because that is not where I want to make money from is other people's pain" and from that moment I knew when my sweet girls time came that I couldn't think of a better person to make the experience as peaceful as possible for my Maggie Moo. After horrible news from another vets office that told me that my dog had no/low chance at survival and that the best option was to put her down, I took my baby home and reached out to Dr.Coover to set up a home euthanasia and gave her a great few days anticipating the horrible thing that was coming. When Dr Coover and her partner arrived at my home, I laid on the floor crying with my dog all morning. My Maggie Moo put her head in the lap of Dr. Coover and that's when she said that My Moo is a fighter and she's not giving her the look in her eye that she's ready to go yet. She went out of her way to look over all of Maggie's blood work that another vets office said was not something Maggie could probably come back from and Dr.Coover decided that they were. She said she wanted to give Maggie a chance and do surgery to try and save her life. Later that night we brought our Maggie Moo to Dr.Coover with a glimpse of hope that she would pull through.... It's been a week now since surgery and my dog that was supposed to die on the living room floor last week is now snoring next to me on the couch snoring away all because Dr. Coover cares! I also want to add she is doing so well that she is PLAYING again! She hasn't done that in forever! I can't imagine taking my dogs to anyone else from this point on. This truly was a miracle and I owe her my whole existence for saving my dog's life. You will never fine another vet like Dr.Coover!

Dr. Dana Coover with her Partner showed more compassion and empathy for our family guinea pig Oscar then I could have hoped for. Because of our distance from them doctor she agreed to do what she could over a few phone calls and the assistance was far better then you tube university so to speak. Pointed us in the right direction to help our 7 year old guinea thru his difficult time. We wanted to have her invoice us however, they were completely satisfied with knowing the tips worked, dismissing the offer of a payment. Above and beyond, hard to find these days, thank you very much!
