I just brought my new kitty to Felines First and the entire staff was super friendly and great with my kitty Luna with this being my first cat they answered all of my questions gave me a lot of good information and said if I need anything they are there to help. They even showed me how to cut her nails and made Luna feel super comfortable not forcing her at all like I have seen at vets in the past do to hurry up the appointment. They even gave her some treats to help her feel calm since this is her first vet visit. Anyone that has a cat should definitely bring them here if your looking for a vet it will be money well spent!

Welcome to Felines First Veterinary Hospital

For cat owners in New Bern, NC, and the surrounding areas, finding a veterinary practice that truly understands the unique needs and behaviors of felines can be a game-changer. **Felines First Veterinary Hospital**, located at **4605 Old Cherry Point Rd, New Bern, NC 28560, USA**, distinguishes itself by offering dedicated, cat-exclusive veterinary care. This specialization ensures an environment and approach tailored specifically to the comfort and health of cats, setting it apart from general animal hospitals. You can reach this unique clinic by phone at **(252) 772-1020** or **+1 252-772-1020**.

Operating within the broader "Pet Hospital" category, Felines First Veterinary Hospital refines this concept by focusing solely on feline patients. This niche specialization allows them to create a veterinary experience that minimizes stress for cats, who are often highly sensitive to new environments, unfamiliar smells (especially those of dogs), and noisy surroundings. While still offering comprehensive medical services typically found in a "Pet Hospital," their cat-centric approach means everything from the waiting room to examination techniques is optimized for the comfort and well-being of their feline clients. This specialized focus ensures that cats receive the most appropriate and tailored care, making it an ideal choice for discerning cat owners.

The **environment** at Felines First Veterinary Hospital is designed from the ground up to be "cat-friendly," which is a crucial aspect for reducing feline stress during vet visits. Customer reviews consistently highlight the calming and accommodating atmosphere. The staff, including Dr. Dail and her assistants, are described as "super friendly and great with my kitty Luna," indicating a team that understands feline behavior and employs gentle handling techniques. Unlike some general practices where appointments might feel rushed, Felines First makes cats "feel super comfortable not forcing her at all." This approach, which avoids rushing or forcibly restraining cats, is fundamental to creating a positive veterinary experience for them. The use of treats to help cats feel calm during their first visit further underscores their commitment to a low-stress environment. The absence of canine patients also significantly reduces auditory and olfactory stressors for cats, contributing to a more serene and secure feeling for them, making the overall clinic environment one of tranquility and understanding specifically for felines.

When it comes to **services**, Felines First Veterinary Hospital provides a comprehensive array of medical care, all tailored to the unique physiology and needs of cats. Based on the customer reviews, key services and approaches include:

  • Comprehensive Feline Wellness Exams: As evidenced by Dr. Dail and her assistant giving a "thorough exam of our cat," they provide detailed check-ups crucial for preventative health.
  • New Kitten Care and Owner Education: For new cat owners, the clinic offers invaluable support, answering "all of my questions" and providing "a lot of good information." This hand-holding approach is vital for ensuring new feline companions get a healthy start.
  • Feline-Specific Grooming and Handling Demonstrations: The clinic goes above and beyond by "show me how to cut her nails," empowering owners with practical skills and reducing stress for both cat and owner at home.
  • Diagnostics and Testing: Dr. Dail "clearly communicated the results of her exam and the results of all the tests," indicating a robust diagnostic capability for understanding feline health conditions.
  • Stress-Reducing Techniques: The practice of not forcing cats and using treats to help them feel calm during their visit is a significant service feature, making appointments less traumatic for sensitive felines.
  • Ongoing Support and Accessibility: The staff's reassurance that "if I need anything they are there to help" highlights their commitment to continuous support for cat owners.

As a specialized "Pet Hospital" for felines, it is also highly probable that Felines First Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of typical veterinary services adapted for cats, including vaccinations, parasite control, dental care (a common issue in older cats), surgical procedures, and managing chronic feline conditions, all within their dedicated cat-friendly framework.

Several **features** make Felines First Veterinary Hospital an unparalleled choice for cat owners. The most distinctive feature is its **cat-exclusive practice**. This specialization ensures that every aspect of the clinic, from equipment to staff training and environmental design, is optimized for feline comfort and health. This directly addresses the stress many cats experience in mixed-animal veterinary settings. Another key feature is the **exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff**, who are not only "super friendly" but also proficient in feline handling and communication, taking the time to answer questions and educate new owners. The clinic's commitment to **low-stress handling techniques**, such as not forcing cats and using treats for comfort, is a significant differentiator that prioritizes the animal's emotional well-being. The **thoroughness of examinations and clear communication of results** ensure that owners are fully informed about their cat's health status and treatment options. Lastly, the sentiment that it is "money well spent" and the declaration that it's "the only place we will ever take our cat" underscore the **high value and trust** clients place in their services, indicating a superior quality of care and a highly positive customer experience.

Regarding **promotional information**, while explicit ongoing discounts are not detailed, the clinic's unique selling proposition – being a dedicated cat-only hospital – is its most potent promotional tool. For cat owners who prioritize their feline's comfort and reduced stress during vet visits, this specialization alone is a strong incentive. The glowing customer reviews serve as incredibly powerful word-of-mouth promotion, compellingly recommending the clinic. Statements like "Anyone that has a cat should definitely bring them here if your looking for a vet it will be money well spent!" and "The only place we will ever take our cat" are direct endorsements that attract new clients. Wonderful experience. De. Dail and her assistant gave a thorough exam of our cat and clearly communicated the results of her exam and the results of all the tests. The only place we will ever take our cat. .

Dr Dail and the ladies at the front are always so kind and helpful when we visit or call. They take great care of our three boys. The pricing is fair and treatment, pricing, and next steps are always explained clearly. They were recently able to get our chronically sick cat in on very short notice and the follow up on the results of his testing was very quick and put my mind at ease. I am so happy to have found such a great vet for my cats!

Absolutely love the staff and Dr. Dail. We are first time cat owners and adopted a pregnant mama cat (surprise!) and her kitten. One month later we were fur parents to 4 more kittens. Everyone has been so helpful and supportive. They are the absolute best!

I switched to this vet after having some bad experiences at another vet in the area and they were amazing. My cat was way calmer, they do extremely well with nervous cats. Was not as expensive as my other vet and the staff was so kind. Very happy with my experience
