Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment Center

After I found out my 13-year-old cat, Mini, was hyperthyroid, I knew I did not want to deal with an expensive, twice-daily medication with all of its potential side effects, when we are fortunate enough to have this treatment center nearby. I requested an appointment and they got in touch very quickly. After the appointment and treatment, Mini was able to come home after just one night! Dr. Mahoney and the rest of the staff were very kind, thorough, and attentive to her needs. It's been just over a month, and Mini's bloodwork is already back within a normal range. She has started to gain weight and her ravenous appetite has normalized. We will have another checkup at 3 months but so far, so good.

We just received her 90-day blood work results, and I’m thrilled to report that her treatment was a success! Gracie is maintaining her weight, and her thyroid levels are back to normal. Dr. Mahoney and all of the staff from reception to discharge techs are wonderful! Alice, our 8 year old kitty, had a mild elevation of T4 on her annual labs in addition to some weight loss. Its unusual in a cat her age to be hyperthyroid, but Alice has never been a normal patient. We decided to treat her, and FHTC got her in within 2 weeks. They were able to run an in-house panel that our laboratory did not offer, just to confirm that she was a good candidate. They were so kind and answered any questions we had, and made sure to keep our vet clinic in the loop during Alice's stay. Luckily, she only had to spend one night. During our morning update, they said that she wasn't super interested in eating so they offered her in-house food that complied with her dietary restrictions and she loved it! She came home happy as can be. They have a cute little shop, so we picked out several new toys as our apology for her sleepover ;) We are so glad we chose to treat with I-131 and cannot thank everyone enough.

The staff are kind, helpful, and very informative; they are a pleasure to work with! The morning update phone calls are a wonderful thing this clinic does, for us, the pet parents. Update: we were able to pick him up 24 hours later! We lucked out, big time. And, based on his meaty chin, it looks like he enjoyed a nice breakfast. The staff said he was an absolute sweetheart, and he clearly enjoyed his time with them. If I could give 10 stars, out of 5, I would. 💕

We are very grateful for the excellent care our cat Cheddar received during his treatment here. 3 months after his treatment now - his labs came back all normal and he is in the best health I’ve ever seen. So glad we decided to do the treatment instead of continue with meds for life. Staff are friendly, caring and communicative here. Highly recommend, it’s worth it!

My family has had Lila since she was a kitten. She is turning 15 in October, I was only 10 when we got her. I moved away as an adult for a few years and when I came back the poor thing was neglected and emaciated. She had been severely underfed and had not been taken to the vet in years. It was clear to me that she was quickly fading and would waste away if not given the proper attention. I took her under my care and had her checked out. It turned out she had one of the most severe cases of feline hyperthyroidism my vet had ever seen. She was only 4lbs at that time; less than half of what she would weigh if she were healthy. I still didn't have enough, but thanks to the kindness of strangers on GoFundMe was able to come up with the cash. At the consultation the staff and doctors were very kind and informative. I felt very comfortable leaving my friend in their care. Lila was at the treatment center for 11 days, and a staff member called me every day to let me know how she was doing. In the following months she gained weight and her vitality returned. At her final bloodwork post op it was clear: the treatment worked 100%. She is now 9lbs and is very muscular. She does not act like a 15 year old cat and her vet says she could live for many years to come. Thank you Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment Center! Lila has been living with me ever since and is a very happy cat. I am always shocked how dense and heavy she is when I pick her up. She is also very playful and strong now.
