Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment Introduce
Welcome to Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment, a dedicated pet hospital located at 5506 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA 98408, USA. As a specialized center within the broader Pet Hospital category, we focus exclusively on providing the most effective and compassionate care for cats diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Our commitment is to offer a stress-free and supportive environment for both you and your feline companion during this important health journey.
At Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment, we understand the challenges that hyperthyroidism can present in cats. This common endocrine disorder, particularly affecting older felines, can lead to a range of symptoms such as weight loss despite increased appetite, increased thirst and urination, hyperactivity, vomiting, diarrhea, and an increased heart rate. Recognizing these signs early is crucial for timely intervention and improving your cat's quality of life.
Our facility is designed with the comfort and well-being of your cat in mind. We strive to create a calm and reassuring atmosphere to minimize stress during visits and treatment. While specific details about the interior environment are best experienced firsthand, our focus is on maintaining a clean, safe, and feline-friendly space. Our dedicated team of veterinary professionals is passionate about cats and trained in the specific needs of hyperthyroid patients. We believe in a personalized approach to care, ensuring that each cat receives the attention and treatment plan tailored to their individual condition and temperament.
The cornerstone of our services at Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment is Radioactive Iodine (I-131) therapy. This treatment is widely recognized as the safest and most effective long-term solution for feline hyperthyroidism. Unlike daily medications or surgery, a single subcutaneous injection of I-131 targets and destroys the overactive thyroid tissue without affecting other organs or tissues in the body. This eliminates the need for lifelong medication and the potential complications associated with surgery.
The process typically involves an initial consultation with our veterinary team to assess your cat's condition and determine if Radioactive Iodine therapy is the most appropriate course of action. We will thoroughly explain the procedure, answer all your questions, and address any concerns you may have. Following the injection, your cat will stay with us for a short period, usually a few days, as the radioactive iodine does its work and their radiation levels decrease to a safe level for them to return home. During this time, your cat will be closely monitored by our experienced staff to ensure their comfort and well-being.
One of the significant features of choosing Radioactive Iodine therapy at Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment is the potential for a complete and permanent resolution of the hyperthyroidism. As highlighted in the testimonials from satisfied customers, many cats experience a significant improvement in their health and a reversal of their symptoms within a few weeks of treatment. Weight stabilizes, energy levels normalize, and the overall quality of life is often dramatically enhanced.
Consider the experience shared by the owner of Bourbon, a 14.5 lb tabby cat. After being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, Bourbon underwent Radioactive Iodine treatment with Dr. Vaughn at our facility. The results were remarkable, with the thyroid shrinking within weeks and Bourbon regaining weight and vitality. Over a year later, Bourbon was described as looking better than ever, with reduced shedding and a healthier physique. This real-life example underscores the potential benefits of choosing this advanced treatment option.
Another key feature emphasized by our clients is the exceptional customer service and compassionate care provided by our entire team. From the initial scheduling to the treatment process and aftercare instructions, we strive to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible for both you and your cat. We understand that entrusting your beloved pet to our care is a significant decision, and we are committed to providing the highest level of support and communication throughout the entire journey.
While we encourage you to contact us directly at (253) 471-9200 or +1 253-471-9200 for the most up-to-date promotional information, it's important to consider the long-term cost-effectiveness of Radioactive Iodine therapy. As one of our clients noted, while the initial investment might seem higher than lifelong medication, it can ultimately be the less expensive option in the long run, not to mention the significant improvement in your cat's quality of life without the daily stress of administering medication.
At Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment, we are more than just a pet hospital; we are a dedicated center specializing in a single, but significant, feline health concern. Our focus allows us to develop expertise and refine our protocols to provide the best possible outcomes for your cat. We are committed to staying at the forefront of feline hyperthyroid treatment and providing our local community with access to this gold-standard therapy.
If your veterinarian has diagnosed your cat with hyperthyroidism, we encourage you to explore the option of Radioactive Iodine therapy at Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and learn how we can help your feline companion live a healthier and happier life. We are here to support you and your cat every step of the way.

Aug 22, 2024 · Samantha GandugliaBourbon my beautiful 14.5 lb tabby cat was losing weight quickly and wanting to eat constantly. Our vet, Ally Pet in Sammamish, discovered his hyperthyroidism and suggested several options. We chose the radioactive treatment with Dr. Vaughn at Feline HTC in Tacoma WA. I'm still amazed by the great results. Within a couple of weeks the thyroid was shrinking, and soon he started gaining weight. It's been over a year now and he never looked better. His weight is back, he barely sheds at all and he looks much trimmer. He's better than I've ever seen him. I'm so thankful for Dr. Vaughn and the team at Feline HTC. If you happen to be at the same decision point I was, I highly recommend the radioactive treatment eliminating your pets need for a lifetime of medications. Ultimately, it's the less expensive way to go as well. I know since a friend took the medication route for his cat and wished he had gone with the radioactive treatment.
Mar 26, 2024 · Michael PlathBack in 2020 during Covid our Captain Jack, a nearly 14-year old one-eyed tabby, was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid. He was losing weight, hated his meds (and us for forcing them), and would certainly have died without the radioactive iodine treatment. Veterinarians with experience in iodine treatment were rare and expensive in our area; then we found the Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment Center. The compassion, professionalism, and personal care from Dr. Vaughan and the staff were obvious even through all of the covid protocols. Their expert care and ability to make the treatment affordable gave Jack a new lease on life. Four years later he is still with us! He is nearly eighteen now and pretty healthy for an old cat. Thank you to the FHTC for four years and counting with our Captain Jack!
Dec 20, 2024 · David JohnsonDr. Vaughn and her staff are so amazing and they took excellent care of our 17 year old cat. She seems like an all around great person, as well. We had a lovely long chat on the phone about this life/health. Phil’s doing great and I feel confident that his twilight years will be more comfortable thanks to this treatment. Thank you for offering a convenient Tacoma location!
Sep 03, 2022 · Angela SGreat communication from the staff and so far my cat is doing well following treatment. She was well cared for while under treatment at the facility and I was provided with regular updates while she was away from home. My baby girl says thank you!
