Welcome to Farmington Veterinary Hospital
Farmington Veterinary Hospital, located at 1400 Beaver Creek Rd, Farmington, NY 14425, USA, is a prominent veterinary care provider serving the Farmington and surrounding areas. They can be contacted at (585) 398-2058 or via mobile at +1 585-398-2058. As a dedicated Pet Hospital, Farmington Veterinary Hospital aims to offer a wide range of services to ensure the health and well-being of companion animals, built upon a foundation of compassion and professional expertise.
While specific details about the architectural design or waiting area amenities are not extensively highlighted in the provided information, the nature of a modern pet hospital suggests a facility designed with both animal and human comfort in mind. A typical veterinary hospital environment strives to be clean, organized, and equipped with the necessary tools for comprehensive medical care. This would include a welcoming reception area, private examination rooms, a surgical suite, a dental treatment area, diagnostic imaging rooms (for X-rays and potentially ultrasound), and an in-house laboratory. Separate waiting areas or examination protocols for different species, such as cats and dogs, may be in place to reduce stress. The overall atmosphere is shaped significantly by the staff, who, as indicated by reviews, contribute to a kind, gentle, and considerate environment. The emphasis on "kitty's comfort" suggests efforts to create a less stressful experience for feline patients, which often involves quiet spaces and gentle handling techniques. The modern facilities are designed to facilitate high-quality medical and surgical treatments, along with wellness and preventive care for pets of all ages.
As a full-service companion animal hospital, Farmington Veterinary Hospital provides a comprehensive array of veterinary services to cater to the complete health care needs of pets throughout their lives. These commonly include:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: The hospital is equipped to offer a broad spectrum of diagnostic services, which are crucial for identifying the root cause of illnesses. This includes an in-house laboratory for rapid analysis of serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. They also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations. For imaging, they provide on-site, modern X-ray equipment for high-quality radiographs, aiding in quick diagnosis. Electrocardiography (ECG) services are also available on-site, with consultations offered with cardiology specialists.
Surgical Services: Farmington Veterinary Hospital features a state-of-the-art surgical suite capable of performing a wide variety of surgical procedures, from routine to more complex cases. They emphasize patient safety by utilizing the safest available anesthetics, especially for older or high-risk patients. Modern equipment is used to monitor the patient's vital signs meticulously during all anesthetic procedures.
Internal Medicine Consults: The hospital offers in-hospital referrals to internal medicine specialists. These specialists can perform ultrasounds and endoscopic procedures, assisting with the diagnosis and management of more complicated cases.
Dentistry: Recognizing the importance of oral health, their dental services encompass teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays for thorough assessment, tooth extractions, and minor oral surgery.
Pharmacy: A complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives is maintained on-site to meet the immediate needs of pets. They also carry a full line of prescription diets tailored to various health conditions.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: They develop specific programs for each pet, considering their individual needs and the environmental situation, providing guidance on controlling fleas in the house, yard, and on the pet.
Dietary Counseling: The hospital provides guidance on a pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance. Obesity management is also a focus, given its prevalence in the pet population.
Behavioral Counseling: Advice is offered for correcting common behavioral problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, and aggression.
Permanent Identification: They offer microchip identification as a reliable method for permanent pet identification.
Boarding: Farmington Veterinary Hospital provides CAT BOARDING services to its clients. All boarders receive personal attention from the caring staff, and cats can be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
Emergency Care: For after-hour emergencies, clients are instructed to call the main telephone number for guidance, indicating that while not a 24/7 emergency center, they have protocols in place for urgent situations.
Wellness Exams and Preventive Care: Central to their philosophy is routine preventive care for young, healthy pets, early detection, and treatment of disease as pets age, and comprehensive medical and surgical care throughout a pet's lifetime. This includes vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention, and flea and tick control.
The provided customer reviews highlight several key features and distinguishing aspects of Farmington Veterinary Hospital:
Exceptional Kindness and Compassion: The most prominent feature consistently mentioned is the kindness and loving nature of the entire staff, from Dr. Millspaugh to the technicians and front office. This extends not just to the pets but also to their owners, creating a comforting and supportive atmosphere during potentially stressful vet visits.
Gentle and Thorough Care: Reviews specifically commend the vets for being "so gentle and thorough" with pets, indicating a careful and meticulous approach to examinations and treatments that prioritizes the animal's comfort.
Dedicated and Caring Team: The recurring phrase "genuinely care about pets and their moms/dads" underscores a deep commitment to the well-being of both the animals and the human-animal bond. This creates a sense of trust and partnership with clients.
Consistency Across Staff: The praise for "everyone" from the front desk to the vet exam suggests a consistent standard of care and client service across the entire team, rather than just individual practitioners.

The specific mention of Dr. Millspaugh and the gentle approach with "Jazz" the kitty underscores individualized attention and care. Pet owners clearly feel that their concerns are heard and that their pets are treated with the utmost respect and affection. This human-centric approach, where the "moms/dads" are also considered and supported, contributes significantly to the overall positive perception and loyalty. The consistent positive feedback across different staff members suggests that these are not isolated incidents but rather a reflection of the hospital's overarching culture of care. This focus on kindness, thoroughness, and genuine concern forms the core of their client experience and serves as their most compelling promotional asset.

Mar 29, 2025 · LuAnnOutstanding Care and Compassion! Our three pooches receive excellent treatment at the Farmington Veterinary Hospital. Dr Millspaugh and the entire team are truly exceptional. The hospital is modern, clean, with well equipped technology, which gave us confidence in the care our pets received. The staff take the time to explain every step of the process, whether it was routine checkups, diagnostic tests, or treatment plans. They genuinely care about animals and their families.
Jan 04, 2025 · Mich LevWe have 10 animals and Farmington Veterinary Hospital always gives our babies their best. They’re accessible, caring, accommodating, knowledgeable, and helpful. We recently called because our dog had some facial swelling and they got us right in, turned out it was a tooth infection and they were so kind and compassionate with Chester and myself. The way the staff gets right on their level, speaks calmly and kindly to the animals, respects their personalities and temperaments, it honestly chokes me up. We were in and out with what we needed. They also always follow up to check in on your animal after a visit, it feels good to have such an incredible vet staff in your corner. ♥️
May 10, 2025 · Kathleen VillardI have been taking my pets here for over 10 years. Every staff person and vet tech is wonderful. They really care about you and your pets. The prices are fair and I love Dr. Milspaugh as he really takes time to talk to you and know your pet. The other vets are good as well. I am so thankful for this place.
