The doctors and staff are amazing! The doctors always take their time and listen to what the humans have to say. Our cat meows quite often and the staff takes their time to soothe him. Love FAH! ❤️

Farmington Animal Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Farmington Animal Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 204 Farmington Ave, Farmington, CT 06032, USA. You can contact them at (860) 677-4400 or +1 860-677-4400. As a local Pet Hospital, Farmington Animal Hospital aims to provide veterinary care for pets in the Farmington area. While specific details about the clinic's environment are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, one positive comment notes that the doctors and staff are "amazing" and that the staff takes their time to soothe anxious pets, suggesting a caring approach within their facility.
As a Pet Hospital, Farmington Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services. Based on the customer feedback, they appear to handle routine care such as yearly check-ups adequately. One reviewer mentioned they were "able to do the routine stuff." However, the reviews also suggest potential limitations in handling more complex or urgent medical situations. One customer recounted a situation where their senior dog was initially suspected of a serious heart issue but then deemed fine by one of the doctors, only to have no heart problems found at an emergency vet. Another experience detailed a delay in getting an appointment for a lethargic dog, which tragically passed away at an emergency vet shortly after. This suggests that while basic services might be available, the hospital's capacity for timely intervention in more critical cases may be a concern.
In terms of features, one positive aspect highlighted in a review is the attentiveness of some staff members. The reviewer mentioned that "the doctors always take their time and listen to what the humans have to say" and that the staff is patient with anxious pets. This indicates a potential focus on communication and a gentle approach to animal handling. However, other feedback points to potential issues with the practice's management and the knowledge or communication from some doctors and front desk associates. One customer felt that beyond basic care, the skill and ability to properly care for pets were lacking, describing the experience as "poorly managed" with staff often not knowing what was going on or providing useful information. The veterinary technicians were noted as a positive aspect by this reviewer.
Regarding promotional information, none is available in the provided text. As a Pet Hospital, Farmington Animal Hospital might engage in promotions to attract and retain clients, such as new client discounts, wellness plans, or seasonal offers. However, based solely on the provided reviews, there is no mention of any such promotions. One customer did mention issues with prescription food policies, where they were required to use the hospital's online store and faced difficulties obtaining a refund for food after their pet passed away, which is not a promotional aspect but rather a point of customer service.
In summary, based on the limited information and customer reviews, Farmington Animal Hospital appears to be a Pet Hospital in Farmington, CT, that some clients find satisfactory for routine care, appreciating the kindness of some doctors and staff. However, there are significant concerns raised in the reviews regarding the handling of more complex medical issues, communication, and customer service. One reviewer explicitly suggested considering a different vet due to their experiences. While some aspects like the caring nature of the staff with anxious pets are positive, potential clients should be aware of the issues raised in the detailed negative feedback regarding diagnostic capabilities, urgency of care, and administrative processes.
To get a comprehensive understanding of the current services, environment, and any promotional offers at Farmington Animal Hospital, contacting them directly is recommended. However, it is also advisable for potential clients to consider the range of experiences shared in the provided reviews when making decisions about their pet's care.

May 04, 2025 · DLMARI will give them at first they were very nice and accommodating and were able to schedule appointments decently quick everything considered. They were able to do the routine stuff however their ability for anything beyond yearly check up is severely lacking. We had 2 pets there, first a chocolate lab that was a senior, over 10 years old. They were alright, however Dr Dan saw him once and scared us so bad said he had some kind of heart issue and we may need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP, then came back and said he was fine. We did have him looked at an emergency vet and they could find nothing wrong with him. We let that slide, unprofessional and poor bedside manors but whatever. Then about a year later, just this past February, he was very lethargic and having issues, we called and they said it didn't seem like an emergency and they can get him in about 3 weeks. We decided to go to the emergency vet and in a matter of hours he was gone, I understand how busy it can get but the amount they just shrugged us off was disappointing for being with them for so long. Also he was on prescription food, they refused to give the prescription to Chewy and required we go through their own online store. We did, after he passed we got another delivery of his food, a few weeks later we called and asked about a refund in which they said they do not have a process to refund orders for pets who have passed. I explained to them how Chewy handles that situation, I spoke with Devon, he seemed nice however never actually called me back and gave me an answer one way or the other. I called him back again, he said he was "still working on it" and would get back to me by the end of the day. That was 3 days ago and no word at all. Mind you I was asking for a $130 refund after spending $3160 with them in a matter of 4 weeks. Not long after this our other dog, an 8 year old boxer mix needed a mole removed. They performed the operation and from there it went down hill quick. He developed a severe infection close to where the operation was, we brought him back, they did a quick test and gave us an antibiotic. He did not get better at all and kept getting worse, we went back there paid over $600 for additional tests were given a different antibiotic but still having issues. We called this morning to ask about a different form of medicine, maybe a compounded liquid. You would have thought I asked them to launch a space shuttle, nobody had any idea and "needed to consult the vet and get back to us". It took 3 hours to get a call back and they said try hiding the pill in a marshmallow, that was literally their only response. I expressed kindly that I feel my pet is not getting the care he needs and expressed my dissatisfaction that they seem to just just guessing at things and effectively throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. After I expressed that they then said they can send over a prescription to a pharmacy in southington but I was not able to get the prescription myself. They then followed up with an email giving me the pharmacy info and the info of other emergency vet offices and said we should consider a different vet. This was not an issue because I was already looking for a different one. Overall they seem like at best the practice is poorly managed, the doctors and also front desk associates seem to never actually know what's going on or provide any kind of useful information. Honestly the techs that work there are the only bright spot and must be what is keeping them in business. If you need just a basic checkup and "tech" appointment they are alright, if you need an actual vet / doctor appointment unfortunately they seem to not have the skill and ability to properly care for pets beyond the very basics. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience and worst of all I believe both of my pets received poor care which created more issues and suffering for them.
Apr 18, 2025 · Matthew GilbertThese thoughts and opinions are my own. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Farmington Animal Hospital based on my experience with them from 2021 to 2024 while caring for my senior dog. - They suggested switching to a Purina brand dog food, but the ingredients were lower quality and had undergone recalls. - After one of his surgeries, my dog came out completely hysterical from anesthesia. We’ve since had him undergo surgery at another clinic, and he recovered so much better. It left me wondering if it was a case of over-administration or user error. - The front desk staff was often disorganized - make sure your blood test coincides with available surgery appointments before paying.
Dec 09, 2024 · CharlaThey are lovely with our cat Gus and treat him and us very well! I have an anxious disposition and they always let me call and ask questions and respond with kindness. Gus loves them too (: their back rooms have a view of some birdfeeders too which seemed like a 10/5 star rating to Gus.
Apr 04, 2023 · Cate AspLove this place! Sometimes a littles difficult to get ahold of them- but they are just that good! It’s that hometown feel for a Vets office. I bring all my pets here (3 cats 3 dogs) and I don’t regret it.
