I adopted my second cat from Farmhouse Brits and I highly recommend them! Jackie made the process so easy and provided plenty of progress photos until my kitten, Baylor, was ready to fly over here. She took care of all of the transportation scheduling and made it a painless process, and sent a bag of his favorite toys and snacks, and included vet documents. Baylor was very confident and curious, and fell asleep on my chest the first day I brought him home. She really cares for the cats and I have still maintained communication with her and sent her photos since I got him in July. Thank you Jackie!

Welcome to Farmhouse Brits
Located at 24091 SW Durdel Dr, Sherwood, OR 97140, USA, Farmhouse Brits is not a "Pet Hospital" in the traditional sense of providing veterinary medical care. Instead, it is a highly regarded and specialized British Shorthair Cattery. This distinction is crucial for local users seeking animal services. Farmhouse Brits is dedicated to the ethical and responsible breeding, raising, and placement of British Shorthair kittens, ensuring they are healthy, well-socialized, and ready to become cherished members of new families. While direct phone numbers (such as a separate general clinic line) are not explicitly provided in the initial information, their highly communicative approach suggests that contact is primarily managed through direct interactions with the breeder, Jackie, and potentially through their website or social media channels (e.g., TikTok with over 8k followers, as noted in a review).
---The environment at Farmhouse Brits is implicitly described through the glowing testimonials as a nurturing and meticulously managed home setting for their cats and kittens. As an ethical and responsible breeder, Farmhouse Brits likely operates from a clean, spacious, and stimulating home environment where kittens are raised underfoot, ensuring constant human interaction and proper socialization. The reviews consistently praise the care and attention given to their cats, indicating a facility that prioritizes animal welfare above all else. This includes:
- Home-Raised Kittens: The emphasis on socialization suggests kittens are raised within a family setting, exposing them to daily household sights, sounds, and interactions, which is crucial for developing confident and well-adjusted adult cats.
- Cleanliness and Health: Ethical breeders maintain impeccable hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases. The focus on providing "vet documents" and guaranteeing health implies a rigorously clean and sanitary environment.
- Dedicated Spaces: While part of a home, there are likely dedicated areas for queen cats, birthing, and separate spaces for kittens as they grow, ensuring their safety and developmental needs are met.
The philosophy of Farmhouse Brits, led by Jackie, is deeply rooted in genuine care and a commitment to the well-being of their cats. This is evident in the ongoing communication with adoptive families and the thorough preparation of kittens for their new homes.
---As a British Shorthair Cattery, Farmhouse Brits provides specialized services related to the breeding and rehoming of purebred cats, rather than medical treatments for sick animals. Their services are distinct from a "Pet Hospital" and focus on:
- Ethical British Shorthair Breeding: This includes careful selection of breeding pairs for genetic health, temperament, and adherence to breed standards. They are a TICA (The International Cat Association) Registered Cattery, signifying adherence to recognized breeding standards.
- Kitten Rearing and Socialization: Raising kittens in a loving home environment to ensure they are well-socialized, confident, and accustomed to human interaction. This is crucial for their seamless transition into new homes.
- Comprehensive Kitten Preparation: Before adoption, kittens receive essential preparatory care. This includes:
- Two veterinary health checks to ensure overall wellness.
- Desexing (spaying or neutering).
- Vaccinations appropriate for their age.
- Microchipping for identification.
- DNA testing to ensure freedom from "50 known genetic health predispositions." Copies of genetic testing are provided to adopters.
- Deworming.
- Health Guarantee: They offer a one-year health guarantee for genetic disorders, including HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease), with clear conditions for this guarantee, such as requiring a vet visit within 14 days of adoption.
- Adoption Process Guidance: Jackie and the team guide new owners through the entire adoption process, making it "so easy" and "painless." This includes regular updates with "plenty of progress photos" until the kitten is ready.
- Transportation Scheduling: For out-of-state adopters, Farmhouse Brits takes care of "all of the transportation scheduling," simplifying the process for the new family.
- Kitten Kit Provision: New kittens come with a "bag of his favorite toys and snacks" and a feeding regime to help prevent stress-induced loose stools, demonstrating attention to detail and a smooth transition.
- Post-Adoption Support: Jackie maintains ongoing communication with adoptive families, showing genuine interest in the well-being of the cats after they leave the cattery. This provides reassurance and support for new owners.
Farmhouse Brits' distinguishing features are strongly aligned with their commitment to ethical breeding and exceptional customer service, making them a standout choice for British Shorthair enthusiasts:

This is paramount for pet owners concerned about the welfare of animals and the genetic health of their pets. Their TICA registration and extensive DNA testing for genetic health predispositions solidify this commitment.

This pre-prepares kittens for life in a new home, making the transition smoother for both the animal and the family.

- Visual Updates: The provision of "progress photos" until the kitten is ready is a highly engaging and reassuring practice that can be highlighted in their marketing. Comprehensive Support: Marketing the end-to-end support, from initial inquiry to post-adoption communication, emphasizes the value beyond just the kitten itself.

Nov 28, 2024 · Tyler TabbI recently adopted a British Shorthair kitten from Farmhouse Brits, and Jackie is really a standout breeder. As a second-time British Shorthair owner, it was incredibly important to me to find an ethical, responsible breeder, and Farmhouse Brits exceeded my expectations. The care and attention put into their cats is impressive. April, our new kitten, fit right in with our other two cats right off the bat, which shows how well Farmhouse Brits socializes their kittens. Communication was smooth and easy. I was updated regularly and had all questions answered without any hassle. It’s clear they take breeding seriously and genuinely care about the well-being of their cats. If you’re looking for a British Shorthair, I cannot recommend Farmhouse Brits enough!
Aug 25, 2024 · Lindsey H.I just wanted to share our experience with Farmhouse Brits in adopting our newest family member, Goose. I work in veterinary medicine and have had many animals in my life, none quite as extraordinary as Goose. If you wonder why we named him Goose, it is because he has a BSH brother named Yeti and we wanted Yeti to have a wingman, hence Goose. When we contacted Farmhouse Brits about interest in a BSH kitten Jackie was very responsive and helpful. Jackie communicated with us throughout the pregnancy and the day the kittens were born. We received pictures and updates, and she even invited us to their beautiful home to visit the litter when they were weeks old. We got to interact with mama, kittens and meet the dad. We visited several times before Goose came home to live with us forever. Jackie being a healthcare professional, was amazing in the amount of genetic testing and information that she provided us about our kitten. We watched as Goose grew and the constant amount of family interaction and love he was receiving from Jackie and her family. The day we picked up our stunning little boy, we knew we were bringing a very special new family member home. He rode home in the car, in my lap as if he had done this a hundred times. He was not fearful or stressed in the least. We look back at pictures we took of that day and are still amazed at how confident he was. In fact, since joining our family, he loves to ride in the car and has traveled thousands of miles around the USA in our motorhome and car and walks on a leash with his brother Yeti. He lives with Captain, our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and Batman our little rescue dog. He has a BSH brother, Yeti who is one year old. It took about three days for everyone to figure out who Goose was and that he was here to stay. They all sleep curled around each other, they chase, they play, they share food, and they all love each other. I find Goose, grooming the crew often so they all stay looking sharp. We have lots of zoomies happening in our house when someone decides it’s time to play. Goose loves all food, and he watches TV, to the point that we must limit his screen time. Goose is very social, greets everyone who enters our house with the dogs. One would think that Goose was one of the dogs with his mannerisms. He is very affectionate, loves to cuddle and play and sleep on us. He gives kisses and seeks us out. He follows me everywhere in the house “helping” me to do everything. He loves water, and routinely gets in the tub, with water in it, to play. I have had animals in my life since I was a baby, growing up. Our family always had dogs and cats. As an adult, we’ve given homes to so many animals through the years that needed a family to love, it’s hard to count. Goose has been one of the most extraordinary kitties we have loved with his sweet, funny personality and his unwavering confidence. I will say that beyond Goose’s gorgeous coat and confirmation, his confident personality is truly rare and extraordinary. We can not thank Farmhouse Brits enough for bringing Goose into our lives. If anyone is looking for a loving, beautiful, gregarious, affectionate, confident kitty to share your life with, Farmhouse Brits is the place to go. Goose has literally, enhanced our lives beyond words and we love him!
