Really weird experience trying to make an in room visit appointment. They prefer drop offs. A $50 deposit to hold the appointment is required- not a big deal and was happy to pay it until they said to reschedule or cancel they require 1 WEEKS notice or the deposit would be non refundable. So pretty much I would book the appointment today and if I needed to reschedule after tomorrow (1 week from the appointment) I would lose my deposit....? That's a first. And a really strange business practice. I fully intend to get my pet to her vet check, but requiring a full weeks notice to reschedule an office visit shouldn't put their office in such a difficult position they'd have to retain $50 for their trouble. One weeks notice is a first for sure! 🤣 And a huge red flag. They REALLY don't want to book in person appointments. They want you to dump your pet off so they don't have to deal with people I guess? I don't like most people either I'll be honest. But cmon.

When choosing a pet hospital for your animal companion, it's essential to consider various factors, including the services offered, the environment of the clinic, and the experiences of other pet owners. Based on the limited information available online, including a few recent customer reviews, it's important for potential clients to be aware of certain reported experiences.
One review highlights a preference for drop-off appointments over in-room visits. This suggests that their standard procedure might involve owners leaving their pets at the hospital for examination and treatment rather than remaining present throughout the appointment. For pet owners who prefer to be with their animals during the entire visit, this policy might be a point of consideration.
Another review details a specific appointment policy regarding rescheduling or cancellation. According to this review, a $50 deposit is required to secure an appointment, and a full week's notice is necessary to reschedule or cancel without forfeiting the deposit. This policy, as described by the reviewer, is perceived as unusual and potentially restrictive. Individuals considering booking an appointment should clarify the current deposit and cancellation policies directly with the hospital to ensure they understand the terms.
A particularly concerning review recounts a serious incident following an anesthetic teeth cleaning procedure on a dog. The reviewer states that their dog was returned with a broken mandible/jaw, an injury that was reportedly not present before the procedure. The review further alleges that the hospital did not take responsibility for the injury or offer financial assistance for the subsequent emergency surgery required. This account raises significant concerns about the standard of care and post-operative management at Family Animal Hospital. It is crucial for pet owners, especially those with older pets or pets undergoing surgical procedures, to discuss all potential risks and the hospital's protocols in detail before proceeding with any treatment.
Given these publicly available reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the typical environment, services, and features of Family Animal Hospital without further information or a broader range of feedback. However, based on the category "Pet Hospital," one can generally expect the following types of services to be offered:
- Routine check-ups and wellness examinations.

- Dental care, including teeth cleaning.
- Diagnostic services, such as blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging.
- Surgical procedures.
- Treatment for illnesses and injuries.
- Medication dispensing.
- Potentially, emergency care services.
The features of a pet hospital typically include examination rooms, a surgical suite, diagnostic equipment, and potentially boarding facilities for animals requiring overnight stays or post-operative care. The environment should be clean and designed to minimize stress for the animals.

Jan 09, 2025 · Melissa Damron FolkertsTook my dog for a anesthetic teeth cleaning and got him back with a broken mandible/jaw. He was eating, chewing, playing w toys just fine before I took him and when they handed him back to me he has a broken jaw, his mouth could not close and he was screaming in pain. Pretty much told me I may have to put him down in 3 days if he cant drink or eat or have surgery to remove his lower jaw. Had a hardest time finding a dental surgeon last minute but thankfully was able to get in through a friends help for emergency surgery. He has a splint in for 2 months. Cant eat or drink on his own, poor guy is in pain and constantly needs to be attended to since he cant close his mouth or swallow well w a splint. Hospital is taking no accountability for it, does not help w covering any bills etc. Worst decision of my life took inna happy playful dog, upon his exam the week prior the vet said how healthy he is and has many years left despite his old age. And now I have a dog that is suffering and not sure what the outcome will be when the splint needs to be removed. If your dog is old please be careful where you take him as they need to be handled gently with care so bones are not being broken during extractions.
Nov 05, 2024 · Ramona MartinaityteVery competent communicative Vet and staff. Dr. Jaramillo is keeping my dog with congestive heart failure alive and comfortable. I drive from Lake Forest to Costa Mesa and it's so worth it.
Oct 26, 2024 · Lynne “Doggiemommie” HolleyI will be forever grateful to Dr. Lori Jaramillo for her guidance and support during a time of stress for me and my pet, Belle Belle. Belle Belle was going blind when placed under my foster care at age 18 with many emergent and chronic health issues including dry eye resulting in corneal ulceration, a cracked nose due to serious respiratory disease, dental abscess that hampered her ability to eat causing malnutrition, etc. Dr. Jaramillo and her associate devised and oversaw a get-well plan for Belle Belle that got her healthy and happy again until she developed oral cancer. I relied on Dr. Jaramillo to provide advice on how to proceed at this difficult time and she made all the right decisions that gave Belle Belle another 7 months of superior comfort and care which was amazing considering her age and health issues. When we made the decision to put down Belle Belle, I was at peace knowing we did the best for her and had no regrets. I still have 3 pets under Dr. Jaramillo's care and am relieved and comforted with the thought that with her guidance, I could allow my dogs to live out their life until it's their turn to go to heaven without needless suffering.
Jul 04, 2023 · TINHTRANG NGUYENI recently took my pet to this vet because he was having problems with his breathing, and I wanted to get it checked on. When the vet looked at him, they said he had fluid build up in his chest, and I would need to have it removed, and they could do it for around 400$, add that up with X-rays and that's another 100$ added. When they completed the procedure, we still noticed that something was wrong with our cat, so we took him to a different clinic because of the outrageous price. At the other vet, they looked at him and said that he STILL HAD FLUID IN HIS CHEST! So all that money I dumped into this vet was wasted because they couldn't even take out all of it the first time. I highly suggest going somewhere else until they change their prices because I shouldn't have to pay over 500$ to help my pet breathe properly again.
