Eye Care for Animals - Tampa

I can’t say enough good things about this office. They really want what’s best for the animals. I am very happy my regular vet recommended them and am hopeful for a good outcome with our girls eye!

Dr. Fife takes very good care of our sweet bulldogs eyes. Highly recommend seeing the ophthalmologist. It’s definitely worth it

I had to treat Willie's indolent ulcer at home with eye drops and ointments while I saved up enough for a visit to Doctor Fife. It took 6 months. She and her staff displayed empathy for my financial situation and presented me with all viable treatment options. They performed a debridement that did not appear to upset my dog very much at all. Three weeks later his recovery has been swift and complete. Thank you Doctor Fife for performing a successful procedure on my pet and for providing me with excellent and affordable service.

We do not recommend coming to this eye clinic for the following reasons: Firstly- Being charged almost $1300 just for diagnostics on our pets eye. We were charged $400 just for the ultra sound, and $250 for each cytology they pulled for her eye and lymph nodes and the other $400 was I guess for the office visit and exam. Btw- Our original cost with an ophthalmologist specialist in Dallas, Tx was only $1500 for the diagnostics AND the treatment/removal surgery of the entire eye including cytology of the tumor and a silicone implant. The costs vs. what we got at this place in town n country do not compare at all. This is an example of being taken advantage of in a time where we are at our most vulnerable. Secondly- the vet, Jessica Stine’s diagnosis added in verbiage that could cause our insurance not to cover our claim, even though she doesn’t know for sure that this is the actual issue, since she used the word “likely”. All she had to do is write the type of tumor; instead she added that it was “likely due to a regrowth” from something 6 years ago that she had no previous knowledge about unless we hadn’t sent her the records. Some words of advice, if you’re not 100% sure a tumor is the same tumor then you shouldn’t even add that as part of the diagnosis. I called and politely asked if she could j simply remove the verbiage that could cost us our dogs life, Dicce it was just an assumption, and she said “sorry as it’s against her oath as a vet”. We are blown away at how unprofessional this is. And thirdly, this office charged us $1300 for diagnostics and yet they still can’t offer to do anything further. They advised us to get MORE diagnostic testing but they have no CT or MRI machines, and no specialized vets who are knowledgeable in ocular tumors or removal of tumors. They had to refer us out to either Gainesville, which is over 2 hours away, or an other place in Brandon that we’ve never heard of. I would hardly call this clinic a specialist. Jessica Stine said she would get in touch with our normal vet to go over options for medications to make our dog more comfortable. However we don’t want anymore help from this awful person. After coming here, we wished we had read some of the previous reviews since it may have made a huge difference in our diagnosis and in our bank account.. It’s a shame there are such limited specialists for the eye here in Tampa. At this point it would be worth it to us (for more than just the costs) to fly back to Dallas and see her previous specialist for this issue. In the future I would suggest that Eyecare for Animals - Tampa, get some better equipment for diagnostics, charge people more affordable fees and hire some better equipped veterinarians.

Make an appointment with Eye Care for Animals if you are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable doctor. Dr. Fife has shown concern and has cared for our furry kids. She sees both our cat and dog. She is upfront and honest with options. She always gives you a detailed explanation and answers all questions. She is just a really good doctor. The front office staff is exceptional. They are always friendly and helpful. They have often added us to a full schedule for an emergency. They are also very professional and will answer any questions you have.
