Exeter Veterinary Hospital

I have been taking my rabbit to Exeter Vet for a few months but am pleased with the team’s knowledge for exotic pets. The employees are kind and can tell they deeply care for animals. I recently had to take my rabbit due to an eye concern, Dr. Kline was patient in showing me how to do it. The team answers all of my questions. I highly recommend Exeter Vet for your pets!

I want to take a few minutes to explain how wonderful they have been at this Veterinary Hospital. My dog is 10 years old, she’s a Yorkshire and I have another 6 month old little poppy. Throughout this time, the doctors, especially Dr. A. Kline, have always been professional, kind, friendly, and humane. I love this place for my pets, it is the best!! The truth is that they have always received us ASAP - if possible, on the same day - even if the doctor and all the Staff leaves very late "after the usual time", they make an appointment and receive us. 🙏🏻 The office staff is courteous and very patient. The place is very clean and every time I wait to be received, I see everyone cleaning some space of the Hospital, “all the time”, it smells clean. I congratulate the owner of this Hospital and I hope that all the staff receive the same quality of work with a wonderful and humane attitude. I also want to add that each time the doctors look first for the health of the animal and not for the cost and price to make money in the business. (Diagnostic Evaluation cost $89) For x-rays $200 approximately, and the cost of the surgeries varies. People who have pets know that veterinarians are very expensive and the attention and quality of your pet is "terrible". In this place, in each of my visits, they will first provide the best way for our pets to be healthy. I feel grateful to have them. And I bless each and every one of the workers of this place. I just want to take a minute to say thank you to both the nurse and doctor who treated my sweet boy nukie today. We unfortunately had to put him down. but both the doctor and nurse made the process so stress free. Both the nurse and doctor were EXTREMELY compassionate during this hard time for both me and my husband. They explained everything in great detail and made sure he was comfortable. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I can’t put into words how incredibly thankful I am for Exeter Veterinary Hospital, specifically Dr. Seiple. My grandma was put into a nursing home a few days ago & (due to no fault of her own) left behind her dog. The responsibility of this dog was thrown onto me & because of his age, bad hips, and lack of proper socialization w/ other animals, no shelters within a 50 mile radius would take him. I contacted 23 Pennsylvania rescues & posted him on nearly a dozen re-homing pages & had absolutely no luck. Due to how stressful & overwhelming this situation was for me and my family, we decided humane euthanasia was the best option for us. I took him into Exeter Veterinary Hospital yesterday & I was genuinely in a crisis. I didn’t want to put this dog down, but my entire family was telling me it was the right choice. Dr. Seiple did a thorough exam on him & she explained to me that while the decision was up to me, he was in great health especially for being 14 years old! I ultimately decided against euthanasia. How could I put down a dog that was still so full of life & love? Thanks to this clinic, I made a decision I could personally live with… & I am so thankful. Not just for their professional opinions, but their empathy & patience. For them being so patient & kind despite me being in a crisis. And most of all, for advocating for my grandma’s dog. I am so so so thankful & I will never take my pets anywhere else. If you want a vet that will not only treat your pets like they are their own, but also advocate for them, take them to Exeter Veterinary Hospital.

Positives first, the receptionists and techs have been very friendly and handled my dog well. Over the past 1 1/2 years we were exclusively seeing Dr. Cherico. Every time we would go she was quick to check our dog, quick to go through information, and quick to leave. Both my husband and I often felt dismissed. We were given medication, quoted one price and charged another. Or not told the price and just charged. We have spent thousands of dollars in only 2 years with multiple medications and treatments that have not been effective. Our dog was treated for a chest cold which after a week on medication got worse and turned into pneumonia. He had an emergency visit which confirmed the pneumonia. He was given 2 types of medication. An antibiotic and something for his stomach, because it showed inflammation on the X-ray. He was not eating, sluggish, and breathing erratically. They said he would improve with the medication. The next day we had to take him to an emergency clinic because he was nearly unresponsive, he wouldn't move, or eat so we couldn't give him the medication. The emergency clinic said the one medication was unnecessary, and that cost us $100. They said he never should have left Exeter Veterinary Hospital in his condition. He was given appetite stimulants, different medication, and anti nausea medication. He recovered. Since June last year he's been having skin irritation which has only gotten worse. We were told by Dr. Cherico this was allergy related, but he was already on medication for allergies and doing well. In the fall of 2024 he was seen as the skin issue was now much worse. He was put on cephalexin for a month and we were told to keep bathing him every two weeks to help with the allergies. 2 weeks ago we took him back for his skin issue as he was secreting pus from around his anus, his hind legs, and his front legs. The redness was nearly covering his entire underside. Again, Dr. Cherico prescribed Cephalexin which he just finished yesterday. He was given a shot for allergies (which was misquoted in price), and flea and tick guard. For a total bill of $900. Today we took our dog to another clinic as none of that treatment helped. He began shaking 3 days ago and showed extreme fatigue. His pus secretions have increased to the point that we bath him and within 24 hrs he's crusty and inflamed, or gooey and inflamed. He smells horrific. Upon the doctor walking into the room he said I can tell already he has a skin infection I can smell it. Upon checking him out he told us that he's at a very intense state of infection and was put on Prednisone and Cefpodoxime. We were given a medicated shampoo and told to wash him every 2-3 days and let it sit. He also said that the allergy shot and cephalexin would not treat his elevated status. Which they'd didn't and that prompted us to seek out other treatment. That visit only cost $270. Honestly, I am just appalled that Dr. Cherico treated our pet numerous times incorrectly and we always had to seek out other help. We even had to go see a cardiologist because Cherico insisted he showed heart issues on a chest X-ray. That cost us $700 and the cardiologist said he's in great heart health, this visit was unnecessary. I will do anything for my dog. Whatever he needed we paid for or did. Needless to say I just feel that we have been taken advantage of financially and my dog has suffered discomfort and illness unnecessarily. We will never go back.
