Equine Clinic At Oakencroft Introduce
Welcome to the introduction of Equine Clinic At Oakencroft, a veterinary care facility located at 123 Weisheit Rd, Glenmont, NY 12077, USA. Categorized as a "Pet Hospital," this clinic specializes in equine veterinary services, catering to the health and well-being of horses in the local community and surrounding areas. Given its specific focus on equine care, the environment, services, and features are tailored to the unique needs of these large animals.
Based on the provided information, which includes the clinic's name, contact details, address, and a couple of customer reviews, we can begin to understand what Equine Clinic At Oakencroft offers. It's important to note that the reviews present contrasting experiences, which we will consider in our objective overview.
Environment:
As an equine clinic, the environment at Oakencroft would be specifically designed to accommodate horses. This likely includes spacious examination areas, stocks for safe handling, and potentially on-site facilities for procedures and recovery. Given that one review mentions the option to "haul in" horses, it suggests the clinic has facilities to receive equine patients transported to them. The fact that they also "come out" indicates mobile services, suggesting they are equipped to provide care at owners' locations as well. The overall environment would prioritize the safety and comfort of the horses during examinations and treatments.
Services:
As a specialized equine veterinary clinic, Equine Clinic At Oakencroft likely offers a range of services tailored to horses. These may include:
- Reproductive Services: As mentioned in one review, Dr. Jaynes assisted in getting a mare in foal, indicating expertise in equine reproduction, which could include artificial insemination, pregnancy monitoring, and foaling assistance.
- General Health and Wellness: This would involve routine check-ups, vaccinations, and parasite control specific to horses.
- Lameness Evaluations: Diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal issues are crucial in equine care.
- Dental Care: Equine dental health is important, so services like teeth floating might be offered.
- Surgical Procedures: The negative review mentions a castration procedure, indicating that surgical services are part of their offerings, although the outcome reported was unsatisfactory in that instance.
- Emergency Services: While not explicitly detailed, equine clinics often handle emergencies related to colic, injuries, and other acute conditions. The mention of "2 emergency vet trips" in the negative review suggests the potential need for emergency follow-up care related to their initial procedure.
- Mobile Veterinary Services: The ability for the vets to "come out" to the horses' locations is a significant service, providing convenience for owners and care in the horses' familiar environment.
The contrasting reviews suggest variability in the experience and outcomes depending on the specific service and potentially the veterinarian involved.
Features:
A primary feature of Equine Clinic At Oakencroft is its specialization in equine medicine, indicating a focused expertise in the health needs of horses. The availability of both on-site and mobile veterinary services offers flexibility for horse owners.
The reviews highlight different experiences with the veterinarians. Dr. Jaynes is praised for successfully assisting with a mare getting in foal and providing a learning experience during visits. Conversely, Dr. Katie Clark is mentioned in a highly negative context regarding a castration procedure that resulted in complications and a perceived lack of experience.
Therefore, a feature to note is the presence of multiple veterinarians with potentially varying areas of expertise or levels of experience, as perceived by clients.

Customer Testimonials in Detail:
The two customer reviews provide divergent perspectives:
- One reviewer expresses high satisfaction, stating, "My horses do so well with the vets here. Dr Jaynes has done an amazing job helping get my mare in foal and keeping us on track with everything that's needed!! Whether we haul in or they come out, it's always a learning experience!!" This testimonial praises the effectiveness of the care provided by Dr. Jaynes, particularly in reproductive services, and appreciates the educational aspect of their interactions.
- The second review is extremely negative, stating, "Absolutely disgusted with the service Dr.Katie Clark has performed on my horse. A simple castration has cost me thousands of dollars and 2 emergency vet trips. Not only did it take 4 hours, Dr and assistants made this experience absolutely traumatic for him. I will NEVER use this practice again. This vet is not horse experienced. Not impressed." This review details a severely negative experience with a specific procedure performed by Dr. Katie Clark, citing complications, high costs, a lengthy and traumatic procedure, and a perception of inexperience.
These contrasting reviews indicate that while some clients have had positive experiences with certain veterinarians at the clinic, others have had significantly negative outcomes.
In conclusion, Equine Clinic At Oakencroft in Glenmont, NY, is a "Pet Hospital" specializing in veterinary care for horses, offering both on-site and mobile services. While one customer review praises the work of Dr. Jaynes, particularly in reproductive care, another expresses extreme dissatisfaction with a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Katie Clark. Local users should consider these differing experiences when evaluating this clinic for their equine veterinary needs. Jul 14, 2023 · madison bellamyI have used them twice for my mare and have had a great experience both times. Very knowledgeable and super sweet and straight to the point with questions. Just wish they were closer
Feb 28, 2023 · Kelsie PittmanWe had our horses eye enucleation this morning at this clinic . The staff was amazing. The vet was very knowledgeable and explained everything in depth . The clinic was brand new and spotlessly clean . Thank you for taking such good care of our boy .
Dec 16, 2022 · rybo flavinMy horses weren't set up as clients with this office as I'd just moved them to a boarding facility and wanted to go with the vet they used that was familiar with the barn etc. I hadn't had a chance to get them established when my 7 month old filly cut her nostril after office hours. I called them and they sent someone out without yet being established. We had Allie, whom was great with her, as well as the office being great in getting us set up the following morning and in making future appointments and working around my work schedule. Highly recommend
