Brought our super hyper 40 lb 5 month old puppy here to be fixed and the experience was fantastic. Don't live nearby or use for veterinary care, but would absolutely return. It was smooth from start to finish. Received reminder call the day before where all questions were answered. Staff was kind and knowledgeable leading to a very pleasant experience with dedicated professionals. Thank you for what you all do!

Services

The services offered by Encompass Animal Care and Health are uniquely tailored to their mission of supporting community and rescued animals, while also providing limited general veterinary care. Their primary focus and specializations include:

  • High-Volume Spay/Neuter Clinic: This is the core service of Encompass Animal Care and Health. They pride themselves on providing low-cost spaying and neutering for community and rescued dogs and cats. This high-volume approach is critical in addressing pet overpopulation and is a significant factor in their affordability.

  • Targeted Veterinary Care for Rescue Groups and Individuals in Need: As a non-profit, they aim to offer accessible veterinary care to those who might otherwise struggle to afford it. This includes partnerships with various animal rescue organizations, providing essential medical support to animals before they are adopted.

  • Limited Routine Exams and Minor Medical Problems: While their primary focus is spay/neuter, Encompass Animal Care and Health offers limited appointment-only times in the afternoon for routine exams, basic wellness checks, and addressing minor medical problems. This allows them to provide continuous care for some of their patients and community animals.

  • Occasional Diagnostics: They also provide occasional diagnostic services, implying basic in-house lab work or imaging necessary for the conditions they treat.

  • Urogenital Surgery: It is explicitly stated that they "ONLY PROVIDE UROGENITAL SURGERY," indicating their expertise and specialization in this specific area, particularly related to spay/neuter procedures. This means they do not perform a wide range of complex or orthopedic surgeries typical of full-service hospitals.

  • Pharmacy: They offer a variety of products, including flea and tick prevention, prescription diets, and compounded medications, available through their pharmacy.

  • Emergency Resources: Crucially, they clarify that they "DO NOT TREAT SERIOUS ILLNESS THAT NEED EXTENSIVE MONITORING" and advise clients to contact a veterinary emergency center for critical situations. However, they also provide information and support for accessing financial assistance programs like Waggle.org, The Pet Fund, RedRover.org, and The Pet Emergency Fund, which can help pet owners manage unforeseen veterinary bills.

Features

Several key features distinguish Encompass Animal Care and Health as a unique and valuable resource in the Hamburg community. Firstly, its non-profit status is fundamental, driving its mission to provide affordable, high-quality care to a broader segment of the community, especially those working with rescue animals or facing financial hardships. This focus on accessibility, as evidenced by their low-cost spay/neuter program, sets them apart from many traditional for-profit veterinary practices.

The leadership of Dr. Andrea Yowpa is another defining feature. Having worked in private practice and then a non-profit, Dr. Yowpa founded Encompass with her own vision of helping animals in need, particularly focusing on rescue groups and individuals. Her dedication to this mission, combined with the fact that Encompass is one of the few woman-run and owned non-profit veterinary clinics in Western NY, contributes to its unique identity and compassionate approach.

The knowledgeable and kind staff are consistently praised by clients. From the initial phone call with staff members like Michelle to the caring approach during procedures, the team is noted for being "dedicated professionals" who provide detailed and easy-to-follow communication. This professional yet empathetic interaction helps to alleviate pet owners' anxieties, creating a trusting relationship. The sentiment that staff "all show immaculate care and treatment of everyone who walks through those doors" and "are all in this field for the right reason and truly love what they do" highlights a genuine passion for animal welfare.

Their active partnership with numerous rescue organizations, animal shelters, and fellow non-profits is a significant feature. This collaborative approach reinforces their mission to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the lives of animals in the community. By supporting these organizations, Encompass plays a vital role in the broader animal welfare ecosystem.

Promotional Information

Regarding promotional information, Encompass Animal Care and Health primarily leverages its strong reputation for affordability and compassion, often through word-of-mouth and testimonials. Clients like Dolina, who traveled over 40 minutes for their low-cost spay/neuter program, directly promote the clinic's value. The reviews act as powerful endorsements, emphasizing the "best price I could find" and the exceptional care received. Their website explicitly states their non-profit nature and outlines their mission, which implicitly promotes their services to those who align with their values or are in need of more accessible care. Their partnerships with various rescue groups and involvement in community animal welfare initiatives also serve as a form of promotion, reaching a dedicated audience. The clear communication about their specialized services (high-volume spay/neuter) and what they do not treat (serious illnesses requiring extensive monitoring) also helps manage client expectations effectively, ensuring that pet owners seeking their specific expertise are well-informed. By providing emergency resource links, they indirectly promote their commitment to holistic animal well-being, even beyond their direct services, further building trust within the community.

What a wonderful vet practice! Right from my 1st phone call with Michelle. I knew I’d be taking our dog “Sailor” to a great place 👍🏻 The pre-op communication for his neutering was detailed and easy to follow. Greeted so nicely upon walking in the door to do paperwork. Then when bringing him inside for procedure. I felt so comfortable leaving him there knowing he was in good hands…cuz I was a nervous mess before hand😩. The discharge was easy and informative. “Sailor” doing great ♥️Thank you to the Staff and Dr Andrea @ Encompass for taking such good care of our guy 🐶🫶🏻

This vet is amazing. Our cat had a broken leg and OP quoted us at 5k+ saying that he needed surgery. Encompass was able to heal him with a cast for a fraction of that. We are so grateful to them for all of the help with our little guy!
