I wish I didn't have to rate this place at all, but thankfully I can give them 5 stars. We took our 15 year old cat here for an emergency visit and turns out we had to send him to heaven. If you've lost a pet, you know how hard it is. The staff was so kind and patient. We had all the time we could have ever wanted with our boy before and after. They truly treat your pets with respect and allow you the space you need when you start the grieving process. We couldn't afford cremation but they offered a paw print in a keepsake styrofoam box, fur, and whiskers with the price of services. I was able to hold my sweet boy as he passed and love on him afterwards without feeling rushed. I am so thankful for the kindness and empathy this clinic has shown us. I highly recommend them.

We brought our beloved 22-year-old pit bull, Bella, to Calumet Emergency Veterinary Clinic because it was her time. Bella had been our companion for so many years, and this was one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. We had to put other pets down before, and the staff at those places treated us with nothing but compassion and care. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. The large red-headed vet who assisted us was the most uncompassionate person I’ve ever encountered. During such a heart-wrenching moment, her cold demeanor made an already unbearable experience worse. There was no empathy, no kindness, just an unfeeling attitude that made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. If you can’t treat pets and their grieving owners with the respect and care they deserve, you have no business in this profession. We're deeply disappointed and heartbroken that Bella’s final moments were made even more difficult by this heartless treatment. R.I.P our beautiful baby Bella may you be whole & free ❤️

We were in Homewood for a wedding when our 6-month old puppy, Poppy started staggering, acting disoriented and kept falling over. Since it was nearly midnight, we called EVCC and a vet technician asked what was going on, then advised we bring her in. Dr. Orange (hopefully we got the name correct!) did an examination of her and suspected she had ingested a toxin. We chose to take her home and monitor her overnight. She hadn’t improved at all by morning so we returned to EVCC where we left her for more tests, IV treatment and monitoring since her core temperature was low. She clearly had eaten something toxic but we didn’t know what. She was cared for by Doctors Fedash and Kish and the wonderful staff there. Since this also was the day of the wedding and we couldn’t visit her, we checked in several times and they very kindly and patiently gave us updates. We got a very welcomed phone call early Saturday morning letting us know our Poppy, while very scared and nervous (it was the first time she was away from us that long) was physically back to normal. We can’t thank everyone at EVCC enough for the caring, competent experience we had. You all are wonderful. She is back to her spunky, puppy self!

Terrible! Had to wait four hours! When we came in they didn't tell us they had two surgeries going on Otherwise we would have left! The vet was not very nice. She made many comments.I did not like. Took my cat there because he wasn't Eating. He Had an upper respiratory infection. She wanted to hospitalize him for twenty seven hundred dollars. There was no need for that. She was acting like my cat was dying and wanted to put him down. I have two cats and she said Well you'll have one cat. Then she had the nerve to ask me if I could afford All this she said Be honest. She mentioned something about Money a few times and I did not like that. All she wants is money. That's all the whole place wants and they overcharge you. Took my friend there for support. She told my friend You're just her neighbor. In other words, she didn't want to hear what my friend had to say. This cat was my mother's and my mother died. And she said well, maybe your mother wants to see The cat unbelievable. They are very cold. Hearted over there. I really don't think they care about the animals they care about the money. They ended up giving her Antibiotics And fluids. Soon as I got Home I fed him and he ate. So did he really need to be In the hospital no. Again they wanted the money. Sorry, but that's how I feel. Will never go back there ever again. It just irks me that she wanted to put my cat down before they even did anything. Just Ridiculous. It was very upsetting to me all those ridiculous comments.
