All they cared about was putting my dog on Neurontin/gabapentin and I kept telling them it was a horrible medicine and I won't do that toy dog. They kept bringing in more people trying to tell me it was safe to treat pain (it isn't for pain it is a anti-seizure med prescribed for just about everything off label ) I kept telling them let's agree to disagree but they wouldn't listen. Now I get a certified letter saying they no longer wish to treat any of my animals. That's all they cared about was that medicine. Will take my business elsewhere and find a Veterinarian that cares about animals and not kickbacks they get for a drug.

Welcome to Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic
Located at 1261 US-19E, Elizabethton, TN 37643, USA, Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic has been a trusted and integral "Pet Hospital" for the Carter County community since 1971. This long-standing clinic prides itself on providing comprehensive veterinary care for a wide range of animals, from traditional pups and kitties to birds, smaller animals, and even exotics. While currently facing a temporary closure due to flooding, as indicated by recent online information, the clinic’s history and client testimonials paint a picture of a dedicated facility focused on putting pets’ needs at the forefront of everything they do.
The environment at Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic, prior to its temporary closure, was consistently described as supportive and helpful. Positive reviews highlight a "friendly staff" and a welcoming atmosphere where clients felt their concerns were genuinely heard and addressed. The clinic aims to create a comfortable setting where pet owners can feel confident that their animals are receiving the best possible care. The dedication of the team to ensuring a positive experience is evident in clients' appreciation for their helpfulness and focus on pet recovery. Despite the current interruption, the clinic's long history suggests a well-established and generally efficient operational environment designed to facilitate comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for a diverse patient base.
Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services, catering to the unique needs of various animal species. Their primary focus includes:
- Comprehensive Small Animal Care: This encompasses dogs and cats, with services ranging from routine wellness exams and vaccinations (such as rabies shots) to diagnostics and treatments for illnesses and injuries. As highlighted in a review, they are adept at handling issues like severe biting, bleeding, and recovery from such conditions, providing necessary medications like antibiotics and steroids.
- Exotic and Small Mammal Care: A distinctive feature of this clinic is its commitment to caring for birds, smaller animals, and exotics, extending their expertise beyond common companion animals to a wider array of pets within the community.
- Diagnostic Capabilities: The clinic is equipped with a complete on-site laboratory, enabling faster test results, which is crucial for timely diagnoses and treatment. They also utilize high-tech equipment for non-invasive diagnosis, including X-rays and ultrasounds, ensuring accurate assessments of internal conditions.
- Surgical Procedures: Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic possesses the facilities to perform various surgical procedures. Notably, they utilize laser technology for surgeries, which can lead to drastically reduced bleeding and swelling in the healing tissue, potentially improving recovery times and comfort for the animals.
- Preventative Health Measures: This includes crucial services like flea pills and other parasite preventatives, as well as addressing issues like anal gland cleaning, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to routine and preventative health maintenance.
- Medication Dispensing: The clinic provides on-site access to necessary medications, offering convenience for pet owners to get prescribed treatments immediately after a visit.
The features that distinguish Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic, based on client feedback and available information, are multifaceted. A primary strength is their proven ability to achieve positive health outcomes, with clients attributing their pets' recovery from severe conditions to the clinic's care. The testimonial about getting a dog "back to Normal" after being "very sick" and "strong and healthy again" after biting and bleeding issues speaks volumes about their medical effectiveness. The specific mention of Dr. Stephanie Moore as a "great vet" further highlights the quality of individual practitioners within the clinic. The team's collective focus on "helping me" indicates a client-centric approach where communication and support are prioritized.
Another significant feature is their affordability. Clients consistently praise the "cheap, can't beat 'em prices on everything," even expressing shock at how good the prices were. This commitment to reasonable pricing makes quality veterinary care accessible to a broader segment of the community, distinguishing them from other providers who may be perceived as more costly. The ability to provide effective treatments at a lower cost fosters immense loyalty and gratitude among their clientele.
However, it is important to acknowledge that the clinic has also faced challenges and received varied feedback. A contrasting review highlights a situation where a client felt unheard regarding medication preferences and subsequently had their services discontinued. This points to instances where communication or differing treatment philosophies might lead to client dissatisfaction. Such situations underscore the importance of aligning client expectations with the clinic's approach to care. Despite this, the overwhelming positive sentiment, particularly concerning life-saving care and affordability, suggests that many clients find their approach beneficial.
A crucial and recent development, as indicated by a client's plea for help, is the clinic's temporary closure due to flooding. This highlights the clinic's physical vulnerability to environmental events and its reliance on community support and adaptability. The client's concern about follow-up care and accessing flea medication due to the closure underscores the clinic's vital role in the community and the reliance pet owners place on their services. The prayers for reopening and the hope for a new office reflect the strong bond between the clinic and its dedicated client base.
Regarding promotional information, while the clinic may not have extensive, publicly advertised discount programs or loyalty schemes, its most powerful "promotion" has historically been its strong reputation for delivering life-saving care at affordable prices. The enthusiastic testimonials, where clients feel "saved" along with their pets, act as the most compelling form of advertisement. The consistent praise for "great service, friendly staff, a great vet and co-workers" creates a powerful word-of-mouth marketing effect. The fact that the clinic has been a trusted establishment since 1971 also serves as a testament to its enduring quality and community integration. The current situation of temporary closure due to flooding, while challenging, also serves to highlight the clinic's indispensable role in the local community, as concerned clients actively seek ways to reconnect and continue their pets' care, showcasing the deep-seated trust and loyalty they have built over decades.

Oct 09, 2024 · Angela Robin LippsTerrible Vet care and overcharged. Rude. VET would not explain any side effects of meds when I asked. She would not even speak at front desk either. Little to no contact with her. I told them we would not be back but they felt the need to send us a letter. Not customer friendly.
May 05, 2025 · Rhonda BlakeOne the second day of our vacation my little Chi, Sissy passed out ! She is 13 ! We rushed her here and they immediately took her back . The staff was amazing ! Long story … we took her home and after a day she was her normal self .
May 15, 2024 · Leslie VanceDr. Moore and every staff member I've spoken to, met, or just seen helping other pet parents, are AMAZING!!! They took exceptional care of Tiger Lily, a stray kitten/cat that decided she'd move in, sleep with us, kill all the mice, snakes, or whatever she found outside and share it with us (so thoughtful!). Dr Moore is an "above and beyond" person (to taking Tiger Lily, and other pets home with her during the recent flood).
