This has to be an assembly of the rudest, most incompetent and arrogant batch of doctors and receptionists on Long Island. SERIOUSLY! There were TWO nice ladies that answered the phone but other than that the vets are condescending, talk way too fast… like they’ve had too much caffeine (or something else?) they feel insulted if you ask them to slow down and don’t like it if you don’t want to follow their advice ~ like neutering our puppy at six months which has been proven to have dire consequences on the life of the dog! They’re also extremely money hungry ~ it’s all about making you come back as many times as they can possibly bill you for! Our puppy had worms and was being treated here but our other dogs had another parasite which needed to be treated and the vet we saw refused to give the antidote then changed her mind when I called another animal hospital and then refused to check the stool sample we brought in and then told us to schedule another appointment to be examined BEFORE the next appointment for the next vaccine… SO THEY COULD MAKE MORE MONEY. This place is horrible, dark, foreboding and the atmosphere is extremely tense. All of our dogs we have taken here hide under the bench from them exhibiting serious fear and anxiety, which has NEVER happened anywhere else. Needless to say we will not be returning and would highly recommend you seek another veterinarian hospital. RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION FROM THESE PEOPLE.

Insights from Customer Reviews:

The provided reviews present very different perspectives on Eastport Animal Hospital:

  • One reviewer had a highly negative experience, describing the staff (doctors and receptionists) as "the rudest, most incompetent and arrogant batch" on Long Island. They mentioned only two nice phone-answering ladies. This reviewer felt the vets were condescending, spoke too fast, were unreceptive to requests to slow down, and disliked when their advice wasn't followed (citing an example of early puppy neutering). They also felt the hospital was "extremely money hungry," aiming to maximize billable visits. The reviewer recounted an experience where a vet refused to provide an antidote for a parasite in their other dogs while their puppy was being treated for worms, initially refused to check a stool sample, and suggested another appointment for an exam before a scheduled vaccination, allegedly to "make more money." This reviewer described the facility as "horrible, dark, foreboding" with a tense atmosphere, noting their dogs showed serious fear and anxiety there, unlike at other vets. They strongly recommended avoiding this hospital.
  • Conversely, another reviewer expressed extreme satisfaction over four years of bringing their two German Shepherds to Eastport Animal Hospital. They found the three vets (Dr. Howard, Duffy, and Hultberg) to be "the most talented and caring vets I've ever dealt with," stating they "literally saved 2 of my dogs lives" in critical situations. This reviewer praised the entire staff as "extremely helpful and loving" and "always very pleasant." Addressing negative reviews about being too busy for emergencies, this reviewer urged understanding, noting the hospital can only handle a certain number of animals at once. They emphasized their deep trust in these vets, considering their dogs like their children, and stated they've "never had a single issue with them" and would never go elsewhere.

These contrasting reviews highlight a significant divergence in customer experiences, with one describing unprofessionalism and a focus on profit, while the other praises the talent, care, and helpfulness of the vets and staff.

Environment and Features of the Clinic:

One review described the facility as "horrible, dark, foreboding" with a tense atmosphere, while the other did not comment on the physical environment other than implying it was a place they trusted with their "kids" (dogs). Typically, a Pet Hospital aims to provide a clean and functional environment for animal care, including:

  • A reception area for clients.
  • Examination rooms for consultations and check-ups.
  • Areas for medical procedures, potentially including surgery and diagnostics.
  • Possibly recovery areas for animals.

Given the conflicting description, local users might want to consider this aspect if they choose to visit.

Promotional Information:

The provided text does not contain any information about current promotions or special offers from Eastport Animal Hospital. Veterinary hospitals sometimes offer introductory discounts for new clients or seasonal specials. To learn if Eastport Animal Hospital has any such offers, it would be best to contact them directly or check if they have a website or social media presence.

For Local Pet Owners in East Moriches:

Eastport Animal Hospital, located on Montauk Highway, offers veterinary services to the local community. However, the customer reviews present strongly opposing views on the quality of care and the overall experience. One praises the skill and compassion of the vets and staff, while the other reports rudeness, incompetence, and a perceived focus on financial gain over patient care.

Given these contrasting experiences, we strongly encourage local pet owners to:

  • Carefully consider both positive and negative feedback.
  • Contact Eastport Animal Hospital directly to ask about their services, policies, and to address any concerns raised in the reviews.
  • Perhaps seek additional reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective.

I've had several dogs over the years. For the past 4 years, I've been bringing my 2 German Shepards here. Most places I've taken them to in the past were decent. However, now that I've taken them to Eastport animal hospital, I will never go anywhere else. All 3 vets, Dr Howard, Duffy, and Hultberg are probably the most talented and caring vets I've ever dealt with. They have literally saved 2 of my dogs lives, 1 being when my female was hit and run by an suv, the other being when 1 had a ball stuck in his throat. I will never ever take my dogs to another veterinary hospital. I will also say that their entire staff is extremely helpful and loving. Always very pleasant. I read a small amount off negative reviews on here with people complaining that they were too busy to take a pet for some kind of emergency, etc. People... they can only do so much. Us, as the customer, no matter how long we've been going there, have to be understanding that they can only handle so many animals at one time. Trust me when I say this. My dogs are like my kids. I will do just about anything for them. So, if I'm putting my trust in these vets, that's definitely saying a lot. I've never had a single issue with them.

We are so very grateful for Eastport Animal Hospital, Dr. Kristen Hultberg, and her team. They are absolutely amazing and true professionals. We have a two year old Cane Corso, Enzo, who is 140lbs and nervous when going to the vet. We have been to two vets previously and they seemed to be apprehensive to work with Enzo because he is so large. They were not very patient and didn't care to explain anything to us e.g. need for various vaccines and medicine. They would give him vaccines without asking about our lifestyle. They prescribed him medicine without explanation or discussion of risks. We just trusted them. As a result Enzo didn't have a good reaction to a tick and flea preventative, it made him sick and when we brought it up they dismissed and belittled our concerns. Another vet even told us Enzo would eventually become aggressive because he is not fixed (even though Enzo has never had any instance of aggression and that vet made that conclusion upon meeting him once). We started to feel like we couldn't trust vets and we felt disheartened. We thought maybe we would not be able to take Enzo to the vet for preventative care ever. But then we gave it one more chance and decided to call Eastport Animal Hospital, and we are absolutely blown away by the care, patience, positivity, and professionalism they showed us. Everyone was so kind to us and Dr. Hultberg explained treatment options, gave us advice, and she didn't rush things with Enzo. We could see the main goal was to keep the experience positive for Enzo, which no other vet ever cared about. Enzo was too nervous to go inside for his appointment, so Dr. Hultberg and her team worked with Enzo in the parking lot. They were able to give him vaccines and do blood work. It was so positive for Enzo and he loves them all. I was emotional from the kindness and patience they showed us, which in our experience is so rare. We are so amazed and grateful. I never expected such exceptional care. They treated Enzo with such love. I'm just so happy we found a doctor and team that cares. And we finally have peace of mind that Enzo will have the preventative care that he needs to have a long and happy life. Thank you so very much from our family and Enzo.

I've been taking my pets here for many years. Dr. Duffy and Dr. Howard have always gone above and beyond for me and the rest of the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Just had to put down my dog of 6 years with them. Over 6 years, they helped me become a better dog owner. They got me through when he decided to eat the couch. They made sure he lived his healthiest life. And when he came down with hereditary hemangiosarcoma, they didnt worry about me not having money until pay day, they worried about my dog and mine wellbeing. They made sure my dog was well looked after. They didn't try to finagle bs tests and try to nickle and dime. When I'm ready to adopt another dog, I have no doubt where I'm going. Thank you for making caring for my dog so easy Dr. Howard, Dr. Duffy and company.
