We had such a great experience when we brought in Zoey to be spayed. The staff was incredibly kind and made sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. They took great care of her and explained everything clearly. The follow-up call the next day to check in on her was very thoughtful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for caring, friendly, and professional veterinary care.

Mar 17, 2025 · Christopher GriffithIt’s the welcoming feeling of knowing my puppy by name every time we walk through the door in addition to the belly rubs. The Doctor’s over all knowledge and thorough explanation every step of the way when caring for my pet and prompt response from staff. I highly recommend this practice for high quality care for your pet.

Apr 01, 2025 · Mary Y.I would give this place one to zero stars if not for the kind and welcoming staff, who don’t deserve to be overshadowed by my negative experience with Dr. Selkowitz. My concerns are entirely directed at his unprecedented attitude and behavior. I came in as a worried pet owner seeking help for my sick kitten. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, fully prepared with all the necessary documents and payment. Despite having to wait an additional 30 minutes past my scheduled time, I wasn’t upset, as I understood that the previous patient needed extra time. What did bother me, however, was Dr. Selkowitz’s dismissive and condescending demeanor. As a concerned pet owner asking valid questions, I expected respect and understanding. Even if my questions seemed trivial to him, there was no reason for the snarky, know-it-all responses. His attitude was not just unprofessional but outright hostile, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. When I asked the assistant about his behavior, she said it was just “his personality.” That explanation only added to my disappointment. I’ve visited many vets in the past and have never encountered such hostility. As a young woman worried about her beloved pet, i would think a doctor would show some form of kindness and compassion, not disdain. I asked for medication for my kitten which was provided to me, but that question in itself felt uncomfortable for me to ask. I cannot return to this clinic, this was such an unpleasant experience. If Dr. Selkowitz had shown even a shred of understanding or warmth, I would have willingly followed through with any continuous recommended steps. But his behavior made it impossible for me to feel confident in his care and all I wanted to do is leave. I’m disheartened by this experience, as I truly wanted to trust this clinic and get my kitten well. UPDATE – In response to the doctor’s reply below: As I mentioned, I was understanding of the situation and the wait time as I knew the family needed time to grieve. However, it’s highly inappropriate to publicly disclose something so personal. While you don’t know me, I hope you would consider the compassion I showed to the grieving owner’s mother who sat across from me. We shared a kind conversation, and my kitten brought a moment of joy to her during a very difficult time. My kitten reminded her of her kitten she once had. Instead of acknowledging this, you greeted me with hostility. For example, one of your first remarks to me was, “Don’t you get tired of smelling pee?”—a comment based on the assumption that my home smells because I haven’t neutered my kitten. This took me aback, but I went on to further discuss neutering with you during the visit. However, you were dismissive during the examination, which left me further concerned when you said you weren’t sure if you were feeling “something in his stomach that he might of eaten or his kidney.” You then suggested an X-ray costing nearly $600, even though my kitten’s symptoms aligned more closely with the flu. I said we can go along with it, until I asked for an alternative to ensure it was really necessary. As someone without pet insurance, I felt it was fair to ask about alternatives or potential discounts. Your comparison of my request to you asking your lawyer for a discount was irrelevant and uncalled for—especially during my first visit. For the record, my fiancé always seeks better pricing with our lawyers; it’s called being practical. But again, don’t make this situation about cost, that wasn’t the issue and you know that. You even suggested I come back if my kitten did not improve after the weekend. This review is about your attitude. Ultimately, I resolved my kitten’s issue with probiotics, and Baruch HaShem he is now healthy and playful again. Doctor, I am not here to discredit your years of knowledge or your practice. I’m here to share how your lack of empathy and professionalism turned an already stressful first experience into a needlessly unpleasant one. A little kindness and accountability would have gone a long way.
Jan 28, 2025 · Destiny InocentMy brother had recommended East Rockaway Vet to me, and I have to say I've been extremely pleased with them, especially with how much they truly tend to your pets' needs. Both doctors are absolutely incredible, along with the staff. They are always very professional and welcoming to my two dogs and cat. Will 100% be a lifelong customer of theirs.
