I absolutely love Drummonds. I have been going here for well over 10 years. It is the only place I like to take my animals. They are no longer walk ins but they still have the best prices around. They genuinely care about your pets. I love all of the vets here, especially Nicole. My only complaint is it's hard to get through the phone at times but it is worth it. I will continue to go here and always recommend them.

Welcome to Drummond Animal Hospital

Drummond Animal Hospital, located at 1417 PA-66, New Bethlehem, PA 16242, USA, functions as a local "Pet Hospital" serving the New Bethlehem community. They can be reached at (814) 275-3222 for appointments and inquiries. This facility operates as a full-service animal hospital, welcoming both emergency treatment cases and patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Notably, they have a history of providing care since the 1970s and state that they treat "all types of creatures, great and small," suggesting a practice that caters to both companion animals and potentially larger livestock.

The environment at Drummond Animal Hospital is described by the hospital itself as comfortable, kid-friendly, and calm, aiming to make pets relax in the waiting room. As a small, family-owned veterinary hospital, the atmosphere likely fosters a personal touch and a sense of community. A typical pet hospital environment, like Drummond's, would include a well-organized reception area, clean examination rooms for consultations, and specialized areas for various medical procedures. These would encompass an in-house laboratory for quick diagnostic testing, such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis, crucial for rapid and accurate diagnoses. Imaging capabilities, including X-rays and ultrasounds, would also be present for internal diagnostics. Surgical suites, equipped with modern anesthesia and monitoring equipment, are essential for performing various procedures. Recovery areas where pets can recuperate post-procedure would also be a standard feature. Given their stated care for "creatures great and small," it is highly probable that the facility also includes appropriate accommodations and equipment for handling larger animals, such as designated stalls or examination areas suitable for farm animals, which would differentiate their environment from a small animal-only practice. The convenient location off Rt-66 further enhances accessibility for clients.

The services offered by Drummond Animal Hospital are comprehensive, covering a broad spectrum of veterinary needs for both small and large animals. For small animals, this typically includes routine wellness examinations, tailored vaccination protocols, and effective parasite prevention and control programs. Diagnostic services are fundamental, ranging from basic laboratory tests to more advanced imaging techniques like ultrasounds and X-rays. Dental care, including cleanings and extractions, is also a crucial service for maintaining overall pet health. Surgical services extend from routine spays and neuters to more complex procedures, including orthopedic surgery and sterilization. The hospital also explicitly states it provides emergency care, demonstrating its readiness to handle critical situations. For large animals, services often include cattle herd checks, farm calls, Coggins testing (for equine infectious anemia), and fair animal CVIs (Certificates of Veterinary Inspection), indicating a robust large animal practice. Beyond these core medical services, they also offer laser therapy, lameness exams, and end-of-life care, showcasing a holistic approach to animal well-being. They also provide an online pet portal for clients to access their pet's history and schedule, and offer online forms for convenience.

Key features of Drummond Animal Hospital, as highlighted by customer feedback and their own statements, include a long-standing presence in the community, caring staff, and competitive pricing. One reviewer, a long-term client for "well over 10 years," expresses strong loyalty, stating it's "the only place I like to take my animals" and praising their "best prices around" and genuine care for pets. Dr. Nicole is specifically singled out for positive mention, indicating a strong individual connection with clients. The hospital emphasizes that their doctors are licensed Pennsylvania veterinarians who grew up locally, priding themselves on making their community a better place for all four-legged creatures. This local connection fosters trust and understanding within the community. The hospital operates by appointment only, a shift from their previous walk-in policy, which might be a change to improve efficiency and reduce wait times, although one customer mentions it being "hard to get through the phone at times," suggesting high demand. The strong endorsement from the loyal customer who "will continue to go here and always recommend them" speaks volumes about their consistent positive performance for many clients.

However, another review presents a deeply concerning experience, highlighting a critical issue with patient care and communication. This customer describes a near-devastating incident where their elderly cat was almost euthanized without their full understanding or consent, despite blood work being "pretty good for a 14 year old." The reviewer recounts being treated "like pure crap" about their concern and the emotional distress caused by the situation. This incident, where a planned check-up nearly turned into an unconsented euthanasia, points to significant breakdowns in internal communication, client-doctor communication, and possibly adherence to protocols. While the loyal customer praises the vets' care, this negative review raises serious questions about the consistency of care and the process for critical decisions, especially for a long-standing client. This stark contrast in experiences underscores the importance of clear, empathetic communication and rigorous adherence to ethical procedures, particularly when dealing with sensitive end-of-life discussions.

Promotional information for Drummond Animal Hospital would likely emphasize their long history of serving the Redbank Valley community, their comprehensive range of services for both small and large animals, and their commitment to compassionate care at competitive prices. They would highlight their team of experienced, local veterinarians, especially mentioning popular doctors like Nicole. Promotions might include their convenient location off Rt-66, the availability of an online pet portal, and online forms to streamline client interactions. Given the feedback, they might also implicitly or explicitly address their appointment-only system as a way to provide more focused care. Any promotional materials would likely focus on building and maintaining trust within the community, perhaps showcasing testimonials from satisfied long-term clients. They could offer special introductory discounts for new patients or seasonal wellness packages. However, to maintain an objective public image, it is crucial for them to not only highlight their strengths but also to ensure that their internal processes and client communication, particularly in sensitive situations, consistently meet the high standards their loyal customers expect and demand. Their commitment to treating pets like "valued family members" and providing "Comprehensive Healthcare with Compassion" would be central to their messaging, drawing on the positive aspects of their client relationships.

I had gone there for a long time and had always been pretty happy but today could have been the most devastating day ever. I called on a Sunday because my elderly cat was not really eating that was just from Saturday and Dr Nicole told me Sunday a few suggestions of pain meds and some foods to try to get him to eat and she would see him on Monday morning at 8:30. My dad took him in to get checked out and thank God he didn't leave they were getting stuff ready and dad said what are you doing and they said euthanizing him. I was just sick and I kept calling and checking on him and they told us they were so sorry and they would get him checked out. By the end of the day I had continually called and been treated like pure crap about my concern of my cat. So not only did they almost euthanize a cat whose blood work is pretty good for a 14 year old but they never even worried about checking up until the very end of the day after I was sick all day wondering and was treated like crap... I could get on and on but that was scary

They went to euthanize our cat when they were not supposed to. Then they were incredibly rude when we would call to check on him. They didn’t keep us updated and waited till the end of the day to call. You would think after almost killing our cat they would have prioritized and been kind but they were the opposite. Do not ever take your pet here. Dr Nicole clearly is incompetent.

My father in law took our cat to be looked at and they were prepping to put him down when those words were never uttered when my wife called the emergency line Easter morning. When we spoke to the doctor we were told "I THOUGHT if he didn't look good after I examined him I was to put him down" not only did my father in law say he was never examined but you THOUGHT? Unreal

This is probably the worst animal hospital ever. They ASSUMED my coworker wanted her cat put down because he was sick, they didn’t ask or double check, and my coworker never said or implied that she wanted him put down. Her cat is okay, she stopped them when she realized what they were doing. The service was awful, extremely rude workers, like very very rude, and there was no communication between the receptionists and the vets. none at all. if you want your pet to be euthanized just cause it has a little cold and you wanna be treated like crap, then i absolutely recommend drummonds. a couple of the vets there now, and previous vets, have multiple malpractice suits against them, and they’re obviously incompetent, your pet would be safer roaming the streets during the tornado than it would be at drummonds.
