I took my dog in as he was having discharge on his eyes (there was no other symptoms). Since the owners are not allowed in the hospital, we have to wait in the car while they take the pet inside "examine" and then facetime the owner about the results. So dr lowenthal facetimed me asking since I brought him they're going to do some other tests to make sure my baby is healthy. I agreed to that. dr lowenthal facetimed me in two hours, (by the way he was yawning during the entire conversation with me, which is neither professional nor ethical), he said he saw some bacteria in my baby's ears so he is gonna prescribe some meds for his ears and eyes. Oh, he also said my dog has some allergy from Blue Buffalo dog treat that i was giving my dog for his entire life. so I took the ear, eye and allergy meds and i paid $800 for that visit. After using the ear meds for a day my dog lost his hearing. I took him back to hospital they flushed his ears and then I got a call from lowenthal saying that i should stop the ear meds, that he believes that the hearing loss is caused by the medicine he proscribed. I guess he wanted to comfort me by saying its ok the dog can live ok with only one ear!! What???? lowenthal i have a question for you: since humans can live with one kidney only, why don't you donate one of yours? You will still be living fine. It's not only the vet/owner who are unprofessional, I have been calling that stupid hospital and asking the records for the tests they conducted. I finally received it 2 weeks later, but that is not the test results. it's just a nurse writing what that stupid lowenthal told him to. if you really care about your pet, reconsider taking him/her to that hospital

The facility aims to be a "one-stop-shop" for animal health, suggesting a comprehensive setup. While specific details on the physical environment are not extensively provided in the given review, general information available online about Blue Cross Pet Hospital highlights that it is a modern facility with an in-house pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology facilities, including an Intensive Care Unit. This indicates that the hospital is well-equipped to handle various diagnostic and treatment needs, potentially reducing the need for external referrals for common tests. The hospital also emphasizes being Fear Free Certified, which means they strive to make pet visits gentle and low-stress, often including healthy treats to create a positive experience for the animals. The operational hours are extensive, Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm*, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, offering accessibility for pet owners.

Dr. Peter Lowenthal and Blue Cross Pet Hospital are described as a team that emphasizes "service, expertise, and compassion." They aim to spend necessary time listening, understanding, and addressing pet owners' concerns. The staff, from receptionists to technicians, are noted as being of high caliber, friendly, welcoming, and highly skilled.
However, customer experiences can be varied. While one review praises the "friendly staff, extremely professional and caring," highlighting Dr. Lowenthal as "very thorough in his examination and prepared us with all the treatment and medication needed," another review presents a contrasting and significantly negative experience. This particular feedback details a situation where a dog reportedly lost hearing after ear medication prescribed by Dr. Lowenthal, leading to strong dissatisfaction regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up communication. The client describes concerns about the professional demeanor during a video consultation (yawning) and expresses frustration with the quality of test result records received. This suggests that while some clients have very positive interactions, others may experience significant challenges, particularly in sensitive or complex medical situations and with communication protocols.
This dichotomy in feedback suggests that while the hospital aims for high standards of care and has a team committed to compassion, individual experiences can differ. It underscores the importance of direct communication and clarification of procedures, especially concerning diagnostics, treatment plans, and post-visit support.
Blue Cross Pet Hospital actively promotes its comprehensive, state-of-the-art veterinary services and its commitment to quality and compassionate care. They highlight their Fear Free Certified veterinarians, aiming to reduce stress during visits. Their strong presence in the North Hollywood community, serving areas like Studio City and Burbank, and their long history since being founded in 1949, speak to their established reputation. They encourage pet owners to visit their hospital to meet the team and learn more about their individualized care plans. While specific discount programs or promotional offers are best confirmed by contacting the clinic directly, their emphasis on preventative medicine and regular wellness check-ups implicitly promotes long-term pet health and can lead to cost savings by preventing more serious conditions. They also accept pet insurance, which can be a valuable financial planning tool for pet owners. The diverse team of veterinarians, including Dr. James Walters and Dr. Nahmi Jones alongside Dr. Lowenthal, ensures a breadth of knowledge and availability for patients.
