Very reliable, compassionate and trustworthy. Our Rottweiler of 13 years took a turn for the worse. We wanted her put down at home as getting in the car was impossible for her. After lots of phone calls and a referral we found Robin. She responded to my email very quickly and was here as soon as she could. She explained everything that was to be done thoroughly and made us all feel at ease. Especially my daughter who was present and nervous. She allowed our new puppy to be with us as well. She treated us all with respect, worked quickly, efficiently and compassionately. I'm so grateful for Robin!

Welcome to Dr. Elms Robin DVM
For pet owners in Camden, Maine, and throughout the surrounding mid-coast Maine region, Dr. Robin Elms DVM offers a truly unique and deeply compassionate veterinary service, primarily operating under the name **Peaceful Passages of Maine**. While listed at 15 S Lewis Ave, Camden, ME 04843, USA, Dr. Elms's primary mode of operation is as a **mobile veterinarian**, bringing essential and sensitive veterinary care directly to the comfort of your home. Her phone numbers, (848) 333-2211 and +1 848-333-2211, connect clients to a service that prioritizes empathy and convenience during challenging times.
Dr. Elms's service falls under the broader "Pet Hospital" category, though it significantly diverges from the traditional brick-and-mortar clinic model. Instead of a fixed physical environment, the **environment** of care is your own home. This is a deliberate and crucial aspect of her practice, designed to provide the most peaceful and least stressful experience possible for pets, particularly during their final moments. For animals that are anxious, in pain, or simply uncomfortable traveling, being in their familiar surroundings with their beloved family can make an immense difference. Dr. Elms ensures that the home environment is respected and utilized to create a tranquil setting. She focuses on making the process as calm and comfortable as possible, allowing family members, including children and other pets, to be present and say their goodbyes in a respectful and private manner. This removes the stress of car rides, clinic waiting rooms, and unfamiliar smells, providing a serene "environment" for sensitive veterinary procedures.
The **services** offered by Dr. Elms Robin DVM through Peaceful Passages of Maine are highly specialized, with a strong emphasis on compassionate end-of-life care. Her primary and most sought-after service is **humane in-home euthanasia**. This allows pets to pass peacefully in their familiar surroundings, surrounded by their loved ones, minimizing stress and discomfort. Dr. Elms is dedicated to making this difficult process as easy and dignified as possible for both the pet and the grieving family. The process typically involves initial sedation to ensure the pet is completely comfortable and unconscious before the final injection. Beyond euthanasia, Dr. Elms also offers related services such as **cremation arrangements**, taking the pet directly from the home for cremation per the owner's wishes, which further alleviates burden during a distressing time. While her primary focus is on peaceful passages, online information indicates she also offers other **in-home veterinary services**, which can include:
- **Geriatric Pet Care:** Providing supportive care for aging pets, helping owners understand and manage the aging process.
- **Quality of Life Consultations:** Assisting owners in assessing their pet's quality of life to determine the most humane course of action.
- **Basic House Call Services:** These may include vaccinations (like rabies boosters), deworming, and possibly blood work, particularly for pets that are difficult to transport or benefit from in-home care.
Several **features** make Dr. Elms Robin DVM's service truly exceptional. The most prominent feature is her **mobile, in-home service delivery**. This allows her to reach pets who cannot be transported to a clinic, or whose owners prefer a more private and personalized setting for care. Her **reliability, compassion, and trustworthiness** are consistently highlighted in customer reviews. Clients praise her quick response times, even for urgent requests, and her ability to make families feel at ease, explaining procedures thoroughly and treating everyone with respect. Her dedication to honoring the human-animal bond is evident in her approach, ensuring that owners can be present and involved in their pet's final moments without judgment. The flexibility to allow other family members, including other pets, to be present is also a significant compassionate feature. Dr. Elms's personal history, having founded Peaceful Passages in 2010 after seeing a need for at-home euthanasia services in mid-coast Maine, speaks to her deep understanding and commitment to this specific, sensitive area of veterinary care. Her connection to The Cat Hospital of Maine as an associate veterinarian further underscores her broad veterinary expertise, even as she specializes in in-home services.
In terms of **promotional information**, Dr. Elms Robin DVM and Peaceful Passages of Maine primarily rely on word-of-mouth referrals and a strong online presence that emphasizes her compassionate and specialized services. Her website, "Peaceful Passages," would detail her offerings, pricing, and provide answers to frequently asked questions about in-home euthanasia and cremation. Testimonials, like the powerful ones provided by real customers, serve as the most effective promotional tool, conveying the immense gratitude and relief experienced by families during a difficult time. Phrases such as "Very reliable, compassionate and trustworthy," and "Thank you Robin for making this as easy as saying goodbye to your best friend can be" are compelling endorsements. She likely highlights her availability for quick responses, and her willingness to travel within mid-coast Maine (up to an hour for general visits, and potentially further for specific pre-arranged situations). Her professional background, including her veterinary education and experience in both the US and abroad, may also be part of her promotional narrative, instilling confidence in her expertise. While her primary hours are typically Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, she makes a concerted effort to accommodate specific needs, particularly for end-of-life care, offering limited evening and weekend availability, especially for those along her commute route. This flexibility and dedication to being available when most needed are crucial elements of her service and promotion, reassuring pet owners that they have a dedicated and empathetic resource for their pets' most vulnerable moments.

Jul 20, 2022 · Danielle HolmRobin came to my home in the afternoon after I called her at around 7AM. I was desperate to find someone to come to my home to help my Layla pass. No one would let me come in to be with her in their clinic and I could not let my girl pass alone. She came to me, we masked and she took my girl with her to be cremated per my wishes. Thank you Robin for making this as easy as saying goodbye to your best friend can be. My family and I appreciate you.
Oct 01, 2021 · Michele TheriaultDr. Elms was absolutely amazing. I had a 15 year dog I needed to have be put down. Not only did she show up with treats for him but she gave him lots of kisses and loves. She was very compassionate and comforted me with a hug before she left. I am VERY pleased with her! Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Jul 23, 2023 · Krystie VroomanBeing one of that hardest decisions of my life, as well as emotional and heart wrenching, she made me feel comfortable. Which is a hard thing to do in such a situation. She performed a check over of my boy while he was asleep and noticed a major blood loss issue that my vets missed. She came quickly, which was fantastic, especially being I am slightly outside her range. I highly recommend her for her professionalism and just way of easing an insanely emotional situation.
Sep 30, 2023 · Garrett DollowayRobin helped my elderly dog, Dewey, pass in peace once his quality of life had declined to the point where we felt it was necessary to let him go. Because we have small children and other pets in our house, we went to her home in Camden. She was wonderful. She was very kind and compassionate to both me and Dewey. Although it was a sad situation, I felt we were both in very good hands. I'm so grateful for her warmth and professionalism.
