My family switched over to this veterinary clinic a few years ago after our previous vet retired, and words cannot express our disappointment. If I could give this clinic zero stars, I would. PLEASE READ For 2 years, our dog had multiple symptoms that led us to believe that something was wrong. We took him to appointment after appointment trying to get to the bottom of it and Dr. Schwartz repeatedly dismissed our concerns, telling us that our dog was "just old". Our dog turned 10 this year and became sicker than we had ever seen him. Again, Dr. Schwartz dismissed our concerns and prescribed an antibiotic to our dog without even seeing him in person. Because our dog's symptoms were so severe, we chose to get a second opinion and found out that our dog had Stage 4 Spleen Cancer. Because the cancer was detected so late, he could not be saved. Our dog died in our arms this past weekend and our hearts are broken. We will NEVER bring another animal to this clinic again.

Welcome to Downtown Birmingham Veterinary
Downtown Birmingham Veterinary is a pet hospital located at 280 Daines St # 100A, Birmingham, MI 48009, USA. Serving the local community as a "Pet Hospital," they can be reached at (248) 642-6144 or +1 248-642-6144. Based on the отзыв available, experiences with this veterinary clinic appear to be varied, with strong positive and negative sentiments expressed by different pet owners.
One отзыв details a deeply negative experience spanning two years, ultimately resulting in the loss of the family's dog. According to this отзыв, the dog exhibited multiple symptoms over this period, leading to numerous appointments. The reviewer states that Dr. Schwartz repeatedly dismissed their concerns, attributing the dog's declining health to old age. When the dog's condition severely worsened, Dr. Schwartz allegedly prescribed an antibiotic without an in-person examination. Seeking a second opinion, the family discovered their dog had Stage 4 Spleen Cancer, which was too advanced for treatment. The отзыв expresses profound heartbreak and a firm decision never to return to the clinic, strongly advising others to read their account.
Conversely, another отзыв presents a more positive perspective, describing Downtown Birmingham Veterinary as providing "reliable, old fashioned care in a charming old house." This reviewer notes that they have been taking their dog to this clinic on and off since puppyhood, indicating a long-term relationship and trust in their services. They acknowledge that the clinic may not have the extended hours and extensive facilities of larger veterinary practices. However, they highlight the "personalized care, fair practices and short waits" as key reasons for their continued patronage. This отзыв also emphasizes trust in the vets and describes the service as "quick, efficient no non sense. In and out." Furthermore, they mention that their dog, who can be difficult to handle, seems to trust the vets at this clinic.
Considering these contrasting отзыв, it is challenging to provide a definitive description of the environment of Downtown Birmingham Veterinary. One отзыв mentions a "charming old house," suggesting a more traditional and perhaps less modern facility compared to some larger clinics. This might contribute to a more intimate and personalized feel, which is valued by some clients, as indicated by the отзыв praising the personalized care. However, the отзыв does not provide details about the cleanliness, organization, or specific amenities of the clinic environment.
Similarly, the information regarding the services offered is somewhat limited and inferred from the отзыв. The negative отзыв implies that routine check-ups and diagnostic assessments were part of their experience, but they express dissatisfaction with the thoroughness and accuracy of these services, particularly the alleged dismissal of significant symptoms. The positive отзыв suggests that general pet care, likely including routine check-ups and possibly vaccinations, is provided. The mention of "personalized care" could imply a more direct and consistent relationship with a specific veterinarian. However, neither отзыв provides a comprehensive list of services, such as surgical capabilities, advanced diagnostics, dental care, or emergency services.
The features of Downtown Birmingham Veterinary, as perceived by the reviewers, present a mixed picture. A potential feature is the "old fashioned care in a charming old house," which some clients might find appealing for its traditional approach and ambiance. The "personalized care" and the development of trust between the vets and the pets, even those difficult to handle, are highlighted as significant positives. The "fair practices" and "short waits" mentioned in one отзыв could also be considered features that enhance the client experience. However, the serious concerns raised in the negative отзыв regarding the dismissal of symptoms and the eventual misdiagnosis resulting in a fatal outcome represent a significant negative feature that potential clients should consider.
There is no information provided in the отзыв regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or special programs that Downtown Birmingham Veterinary might offer to attract or retain clients. Therefore, it is not possible to include any details about promotional information in this introduction.
In conclusion, Downtown Birmingham Veterinary in Birmingham, MI, is a pet hospital that elicits strong, contrasting reactions from its clients. One отзыв praises the reliable, old-fashioned, and personalized care provided in a charming setting, highlighting short waits and a sense of trust in the vets. However, another отзыв recounts a devastating experience involving alleged repeated dismissal of serious symptoms, leading to a late cancer diagnosis and the pet's death. This отзыв strongly advises against using the clinic. Potential local users should carefully consider these differing perspectives. The emphasis on personalized care and a traditional setting might appeal to some, while the serious allegations of misdiagnosis and dismissed concerns raise significant red flags. It is recommended that individuals considering Downtown Birmingham Veterinary seek further information, perhaps through direct communication with the clinic and potentially by seeking additional отзыв from other pet owners in the community, to make an informed decision about their pet's healthcare.

Jan 30, 2025 · Melissa MonblattWe've been taking our dog here on and off (we moved for a few years) since he was a puppy. Its reliable, old fashioned care in a charming old house. While they dont have the hours and facilities of the some of the bigger vets.. their personalized care, fair practices and short waits are what keeps us coming back. And we trust their vets. Quick, efficient no non sense. In and out. Our dog also seems to trust them, when others have had trouble handling him.

Jul 22, 2024 · Steven JohnsonI can’t stay enough good things about this place. Both doctors are fantastic and very attentive. We will not take our dogs anywhere else.
Mar 29, 2025 · Manal GeibigI've been bringing my dogs here for 25 years or more and Dr. Schwartz and his staff have been amazing people to work with. My dogs have always loved coming here but that could be because of the cats that live here.
