Welcome to Delmont Veterinary Hospital
Located at 2774 PA-66, Delmont, PA 15626, USA, Delmont Veterinary Hospital serves as a "Pet Hospital" offering comprehensive medical and surgical care for small companion animals, primarily dogs and cats. The hospital aims to provide a wide range of services to local pet owners, focusing on maintaining the total body health of pets in their Southwestern Pennsylvania service area. With a team of professionally trained and licensed veterinary doctors and staff, Delmont Veterinary Hospital strives to be a trusted resource for pet healthcare needs.
Delmont Veterinary Hospital operates as a traditional, fixed-location veterinary clinic, providing a dedicated environment for animal care. The address at 2774 PA-66 suggests a readily accessible location for residents of Delmont and surrounding communities. As a "Pet Hospital" in this context, the environment typically includes:
Reception Area: A space for clients to check in, wait for appointments, and handle administrative tasks. The atmosphere here is often designed to be welcoming, although busy periods can impact the experience.
Exam Rooms: Private spaces where veterinarians can conduct examinations, consultations, and routine procedures with pets and their owners. These rooms are equipped for diagnostics and basic treatments.
Treatment Areas: Dedicated spaces for more intensive medical procedures, wound care, and minor treatments.
Surgical Suite: A sterile environment for performing surgical procedures, equipped with anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
Kennel/Hospitalization Area: Spaces for pets requiring overnight stays, post-operative recovery, or extended medical observation. These areas are designed to be clean and provide comfort for the animals.
Diagnostic Facilities: On-site laboratory for blood work, urinalysis, and other tests, as well as imaging equipment like digital X-rays.
The layout and upkeep of such a facility are crucial for effective veterinary care and the comfort of both pets and their owners. Reviews indicate that the staff plays a significant role in shaping the client's experience within this environment, with some praising their compassion and respect, while others have expressed severe dissatisfaction.
Delmont Veterinary Hospital, as a full-service "Pet Hospital," offers a wide array of medical and surgical services for small companion animals. Their comprehensive approach aims to address various aspects of pet health from routine wellness to more complex medical issues. Key services typically include:
Preventative Care: This is a cornerstone of veterinary practice, encompassing routine wellness exams, tailored vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases, and parasite prevention and elimination for fleas, ticks, and various types of worms.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses, the hospital provides laboratory services including in-house blood work and urinalysis, as well as medical imaging such as digital X-rays. This allows for timely and efficient identification of health issues.
Dental Services: Essential for overall pet health, they offer comprehensive dental cleanings and extractions to address oral hygiene and prevent dental diseases.
Soft Tissue Surgical Procedures: The hospital is equipped to perform various soft tissue surgeries, addressing conditions that require surgical intervention beyond routine spaying and neutering.
Pain Management: Recognizing the importance of comfort and quality of life, they provide solutions for pain management, which can include medication and potentially therapies like cold laser therapy.
End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support during difficult times, they offer end-of-life care services, assisting pet owners in making decisions and providing comfort for their aging or terminally ill pets.
Prescription Diets: The hospital also offers access to prescription diets designed to manage specific health conditions or support overall wellness.
Microchipping: For pet identification and recovery, microchipping services are often available, aiding in the safe return of lost pets.
It's important to note that while comprehensive, the effectiveness of these services hinges on accurate diagnosis and timely treatment, as highlighted by both positive and negative customer feedback.
Delmont Veterinary Hospital presents several features that define its operation as a "Pet Hospital":
Experienced Veterinary Staff: The hospital states it has two professionally trained and licensed veterinary doctors, with one review specifically mentioning Dr. Harr and Dr. Moravick by name, with clients praising Dr. Harr's long-standing care ("for over 20 years"). This suggests a foundation of experienced practitioners. Another review also mentions Dr. Shelton in a positive light.
Range of Medical Capabilities: The hospital's ability to offer services from preventative care and routine exams to surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, and pain management indicates a capacity for addressing a wide spectrum of pet health needs under one roof.
Focus on Small Companion Animals: Their specialization in dogs and cats allows them to tailor their expertise, equipment, and facilities to the specific requirements of these common household pets.
Client Relationship Building: Positive reviews frequently highlight the compassionate and respectful treatment by Dr. Harr and the staff, indicating an effort to build long-term relationships with pet owners, where pets are "cared for as she would her own." This personal connection is a significant feature for many clients.
On-site Pharmacy and Products: The availability of "high-quality medications, therapeutic agents, preventative therapies, prescription diets, and other healthcare items in stock" on-site offers convenience for pet owners to obtain necessary treatments directly from the hospital.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge that while some clients describe decades of positive experiences and trust, there are also extremely negative reviews. These reviews describe significant concerns regarding diagnosis, treatment, and communication, leading to tragic outcomes for their pets. This stark contrast in experiences indicates that while the hospital aims to provide comprehensive care and has built long-term relationships with some clients, there are instances where serious concerns about the quality of care and communication have been raised. This mixed feedback is a critical aspect of understanding the hospital's features and performance from a user perspective.
Delmont Veterinary Hospital's promotional efforts, as inferred from available information, seem to center on their comprehensive service offerings and the longevity of their client relationships, though this is heavily contrasted by highly critical feedback. Their promotional messaging would likely include:
Emphasis on Comprehensive Services: Highlighting their wide array of services from wellness to surgery, positioning themselves as a one-stop-shop for dog and cat health needs.
Accessibility: Clearly stating their address and phone number ((724) 468-8000) to facilitate easy contact for appointments or inquiries.
Building Trust Through Long-Term Relationships: Leveraging positive testimonials, like "We've been taking our pets to Dr Harr for over 20 years. She cares for them as she would her own," to attract new clients seeking a consistent and caring veterinary partner.
Convenience of On-site Products: Promoting the availability of prescription diets and medications directly at the hospital, simplifying the process for pet owners.
However, any objective introduction must also address the severe negative experiences shared by some clients. The extremely critical reviews detail a lack of accurate diagnosis, delayed treatment, and poor communication, leading to the loss of beloved pets. These reviews specifically call for investigation and warn other pet owners against using their services, stating, "If you love your pets don’t come here." This suggests that while the hospital aims to project an image of comprehensive and compassionate care, there are significant public concerns regarding their service quality and outcomes in certain instances. Therefore, while Delmont Veterinary Hospital positions itself as a full-service "Pet Hospital" with a focus on comprehensive care and long-term client relationships, potential users should consider the full spectrum of client experiences and exercise due diligence when making decisions about their pet's healthcare.

Apr 06, 2025 · Becky FIf I could give zero stars, I would! Our dog was only 6 years old and wasn’t feeling good. My husband took him to be seen by his vet, this vet at Delmont Veterinary Hospital! They gave him some medicine, took some tests and sent him home. Still didn’t feel good so took back and asked if a dog could have a bladder infection as I think he is bleeding in his urine?! The vet ran with that and gave him some fluids and a shot of antibiotics. Vet said he should be better in a couple of hours. If not better by 5pm call them back. By 3pm still not eating so we couldn’t give him his medicine, husband called back. Woman said we really need to give him 24 hours to give time for the shot to help. This morning (3 1/2 days without eating at all or drinking much) my husband demanded they see our dog. After keeping him they called us and said we would need to take him to the emergency vet hospital. The vet there called us later to say our dog was septic…Long story short my dog didn’t make it. He had to be put down. Our vet at Delmont Veterinary Hospital failed at diagnosing and treating our dog. We had put our trust in this vet, as our dog was already an established patient there, to diagnose, treat and make our dog well again! Someone else posted that Delmont Veterinary Hospital needs to be investigated and I agree with their opinion! Our dog was healthy just like this person’s dog and now both of our dogs are gone! I wouldn’t take another animal here and because of this vet, placing our trust in them and having to put our dog down because of them, we will never own another animal again! Thanks for that Delmont Veterinary Hospital! They are the worst vets we have ever dealt with. If you love your pets don’t come here. I will make sure to tell everyone I know including social media about our experience!
