My senior dachshund was acting as if she'd hurt her back. We worried she may have pressure on her spinal cord which would only get worse and lead to paralysis the longer we waited. We were not willing to take a chance on it, so we called our regular vet and explained the situation to see if we could do a walk-in to get her checked out. Our vet's office said they don't take walk-ins and only had a few appointments available for the week. So we called another vet just down the road from our house and they said they didn't take walk-ins either. We called Deerfoot hoping to goodness they could take her and they did. Not only were we told "bring her in right now and we'll work her in", but we were brought back just a few minutes after arriving. Dr. Metcalf and the vet tech (I hate I didn't get her name!) were fantastic! Penny tends to be a bit snippy with strangers but she didn't give either of them any trouble our entire visit, and I contribute that to the quiet, calm demeanor of both of them. We were given pain medication and a muscle relaxer to help with muscle spasms in her back, and she's already improved since yesterday. We can't thank the staff at Deerfoot enough for taking such wonderful care of our sweet Penny Girl!

Staff is nice & knowledgeable. They're accommodating & were courteous enough to warn me about an unfriendly dog that would be coming in (I had my toddler with me). The only thing I would have them consider maybe changing protocol for, would be to take care of bills before a euthanasia process. So that sad pet parents can leave after saying goodbye, without stopping to take care of their balance. Overall though, highly recommend!

Dr. Russell, your staff is just incredible!! You have a great team working with you!! The care and concern I was greeted with when I walked through the door was just top notch. The place I went to first, not so much. They shall remain nameless. Then the way you greeted everyone in the lobby when you arrived caught my attention as well. Thank you for easing my concern for our Abbey, she’s my son’s first dog and we’ve had her since he was 4 almost 5. So you could imagine how scared he was that morning. Thank you for taking an extra few mins and discussing the Oder of operations you’d like to take to figure out what was going on. Abbey is doing much better today and just about back to her normal self. I can’t thank you all enough!!
