I brought my Baxter into the Urgent Care at Bark City in Sunday, November 26th, 2023. I brought him in as his right hind leg started going lame, he wouldn’t walk, eat or drink, was shaking and I said his eyes were rolling in the back of his head. We were seen 4 hours after arriving. They took him back for a very quick exam. She came back in and said she was only an urgent care vet, not a neuro. She said he seemed fine and said he was probably doing those things for attention. She told me to call back to get an appt with the neurologist. He died one week later. He was 6. I can’t put fault on her for him dying but I can say to tell me that he was doing it for attention— 💯 unexceptional!!!!! You don’t know how upsetting that was when we knew something was VERY wrong. Our hearts are shattered over this very abrupt loss. Could something have been done that day, we will never know. When a patient and their human parents come in in this condition both should be handled with care and compassion. 😢

Welcome to Deborah Schiffer

This introduction focuses on the veterinary care provided by Deborah Schiffer, operating within the Pet Hospital category and associated with facilities in Midvale, UT, specifically mentioned as "Bark City" and "Blue Pearl" in the provided customer reviews. The address listed, 308 W 7200 S, Midvale, UT 840471041, USA, and contact numbers (801) 871-0600 and +1 801-871-0600, likely pertain to one or both of these locations where Deborah Schiffer practices. This overview aims to synthesize the information from the customer experiences to provide local users with insights into the environment, services, features, and any discernible implications regarding the care provided by Deborah Schiffer.

The environment in which Deborah Schiffer provides care appears to vary depending on the facility. One review mentions "Urgent Care at Bark City," suggesting a setting focused on immediate medical needs that are not life-threatening but require prompt attention. The experience described in this urgent care setting involved a four-hour wait, followed by a "very quick exam" in a facility where the attending veterinarian identified herself as an urgent care vet rather than a specialist (neurologist). This suggests a triage-based environment where initial assessments are made to determine the level and type of care needed. The lack of in-depth neurological examination in an urgent care context might be typical, but the subsequent communication regarding the pet's symptoms being potentially for "attention" raises concerns about the level of sensitivity and diagnostic thoroughness in this specific environment.

The second review references "Blue Pearl," indicating that Deborah Schiffer also practices or was on duty at a facility associated with this larger veterinary network. Blue Pearl is often known for providing specialty and emergency veterinary care. The positive experience at Blue Pearl suggests a more specialized environment where a timely and accurate diagnosis was made, leading to the pet's recovery. This implies that Deborah Schiffer's practice may span both urgent care and more specialized hospital settings, potentially offering different levels of resources and expertise depending on the location.

The services provided by Deborah Schiffer, as inferred from the reviews, include initial examinations in an urgent care setting, although with a stated limitation in specialized neurological assessment at that level. However, her work at Blue Pearl demonstrates diagnostic capabilities leading to successful treatment. This suggests a range of services that likely includes general veterinary care, urgent care assessment, and potentially specialized diagnostics and treatment within a larger hospital setting. The specific services offered would likely depend on whether the pet is seen at Bark City's urgent care or Blue Pearl's facility.

A key feature of Deborah Schiffer's care, as perceived through the contrasting reviews, is her diagnostic acumen in certain situations. The positive review explicitly states, "She diagnosed her immediately, she saved her," highlighting a strength in быстро and accurate diagnosis when the case falls within her area of expertise or within the capabilities of the facility she is working in at that time. The reviewer valued her professionalism and focus on "doing her job" effectively.

However, a concerning feature raised by the negative review is the potential for a lack of thoroughness or misjudgment in an urgent care setting, particularly when dealing with complex or atypical symptoms. The dismissal of severe symptoms as attention-seeking behavior, especially when a pet's condition was rapidly deteriorating, raises questions about the initial assessment and triage process in that specific instance. It underscores the importance of clear communication about the limitations of urgent care versus specialized care and the need for a sensitive and thorough approach to all presenting symptoms.

There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Veterinary professionals and hospitals may sometimes offer introductory specials or highlight specific areas of expertise, but no such details are mentioned in these reviews pertaining to Deborah Schiffer's services at either Bark City or Blue Pearl.

In conclusion, the veterinary care provided by Deborah Schiffer appears to encompass both urgent care settings (at Bark City) and potentially more specialized hospital environments (at Blue Pearl) in Midvale, UT. A significant feature highlighted in one instance is her ability to make быстро and accurate diagnoses leading to positive outcomes. However, a concerning experience in an urgent care setting suggests potential limitations in initial assessments of complex cases and the importance of clear communication and sensitivity towards pet owners' concerns. Local users considering seeking care from Deborah Schiffer should be aware of these differing experiences and perhaps inquire about the specific setting (urgent care vs. specialty hospital) and the scope of diagnostic and treatment capabilities available at that location. Contact can be made at (801) 871-0600 or +1 801-871-0600 for further information about the services offered at the specific facility where Deborah Schiffer is practicing.

I brought my dog to the Blue Perl on Thursday, Dr Schiffer was on duty that day. She diagnosed her immediately, she saved her. Dr Schiffer is a professional, she knows what she is doing and that’s what I needed, not her smiles and hugs, just for her to do her job.

I brought our French Bulldog PePe in on 9/7. He was clearly experiencing symptoms of IVDD. He had no use of his hind legs. They took in him immediately, but I waited 4+ hours to get a cold phone call from the vet. She said, “so you want to continue medical therapy?” I said, “well if think it can work?” to which she replied, “if he has compete crate rest.” I was naive and hoped it would work. However, I should have challenged. His condition worsened, even with the drugs she prescribed. He should have been immediately referred for an MRI. I think even at that time, he was deep pain negative in his back legs. There was no neuro exam, etc. He finally got surgery on Friday night. He was deep pain negative on both back legs. Don’t rush through patients to get them in and out. An in person consultation, would also be very nice vs. a very cold phone call. I will never recommend Deborah Schiffer or BluePearl
