I don’t typically like to post reviews like this, but I take my pet’s care very seriously and felt it was important to share my experience. While I believe this clinic is ok for routine vaccine care, I wouldn’t recommend it for more complex issues. During my visit, I raised concerns about my dog possibly having an ear infection. The veterinarian briefly looked at his ears and, said it was “not necessary to perform an ear cytology” because there was no “visible infection”. I was advised to find a groomer to have his ears plucked and to use vinegar for earwax maintenance. I paid $300 for this visit for the vet to not even properly examine his ears. Upon doing research vinegar disrupts the pH balance in the ears and can cause irritation. I am glad I followed my instincts as this advice was unprofessional. I took my dog to another vet, where they performed an ear cytology and found that he had a yeast infection in one ear and both yeast and bacteria in the other. I’m relieved I sought a second opinion, as following the initial advice could have made the situation worse. I don’t appreciate the clinic’s approach that performing basic and standard tests is not necessary, and not properly examining it’s patients. I feel more thorough examinations and proper diagnostics should be offered when concerns are raised. I hope this feedback helps improve the care provided for other pets in the future.

Davis Lake Animal Hospital Introduce

Welcome to Davis Lake Animal Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 4971 David Cox Rd in Charlotte, North Carolina. We understand that your pets are important members of your family, and we aim to provide veterinary services to address their health needs. While specific details about the clinic's environment and facilities are not extensively available in the provided information, we can gather insights from the experiences shared by pet owners who have visited our practice.

Davis Lake Animal Hospital offers a range of veterinary services, with routine vaccine care being one area mentioned by a reviewer. This suggests that the clinic provides preventative care measures such as vaccinations to help protect your pets from common diseases. However, one pet owner shared a concerning experience regarding the diagnosis and treatment of a potential ear infection in their dog. According to this review, despite raising concerns about a possible ear infection, a thorough examination, including an ear cytology, was reportedly not performed because there was no "visible infection." The advice given at the time involved finding a groomer for ear plucking and using vinegar for earwax maintenance. The reviewer later sought a second opinion from another veterinarian who performed an ear cytology and diagnosed a yeast infection in one ear and both yeast and bacteria in the other. This experience highlights a potential area of concern regarding the thoroughness of examinations and the necessity of diagnostic testing when pet owners raise specific health issues.

In contrast to the aforementioned experience, another reviewer offered a positive perspective on Dr. Sam, describing him as "a treasure." This reviewer praised Dr. Sam for providing necessary services without recommending what they perceived as "frivolous tests" that would significantly increase the cost. They further stated that Dr. Sam is "truly in it for the pets," suggesting a veterinarian who prioritizes the well-being of animals while being mindful of the financial implications for pet owners. This contrasting feedback indicates that experiences at Davis Lake Animal Hospital may vary.

Based on the available reviews, it appears that Davis Lake Animal Hospital offers routine vaccine care and general veterinary examinations. Dr. Sam has been described as a veterinarian who focuses on providing necessary care without unnecessary additional testing. However, the negative review raises concerns about the approach to diagnosing and treating more complex issues, specifically in this case, a potential ear infection. The advice given in that instance was later contradicted by a diagnosis obtained from another veterinary professional, emphasizing the importance of thorough examinations and appropriate diagnostic procedures when health concerns are presented.

One potential feature of Davis Lake Animal Hospital, as suggested by the positive review, is a focus on providing cost-effective care by potentially avoiding tests deemed unnecessary by the veterinarian. This approach may be appealing to pet owners who are concerned about the expense of veterinary services. However, the negative review underscores the importance of ensuring that cost-consciousness does not compromise the thoroughness of examinations and the use of necessary diagnostic tools, especially when specific health concerns are raised by the pet owner.

Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional information for Davis Lake Animal Hospital. Therefore, we cannot comment on any special offers, discounts, or new client promotions that may be available.

In conclusion, Davis Lake Animal Hospital in Charlotte, NC, offers veterinary services that include routine vaccine care and examinations. While one reviewer praises Dr. Sam for his approach to providing necessary care without excessive testing, another pet owner expressed significant concerns about the thoroughness of the examination and the advice received regarding a potential ear infection. This contrasting feedback suggests that experiences at the clinic may vary. Local users considering Davis Lake Animal Hospital for their pet's care should take these reviews into account and may wish to inquire about the clinic's protocols for diagnosing and treating various health issues, as well as their approach to diagnostic testing, to ensure it aligns with their expectations for their pet's healthcare.

Dr Sam is a treasure, providing the service your pet needs without frivolous tests that drastically increase the fee. He is truly in it for the pets.

When in need of professional services, I always seek referrals. In this case, I was referred by my neighbor--who has three cats and a dog--to Davis Lake Animal Hospital and Dr. Sam Hanes. My neighbors have been taking their pets to Dr. Hanes for 16 years and they highly recommended him. I am happy to say that, I, too, was greatly pleased! I have two new kittens that I have had just under three weeks now. On Tuesday, I took them for their last rabies and booster shots, and I was pleased with the handling and gentle care of my babies. Also, Dr. Hanes was very nice, professional, and patiently answered all of my questions. His assistant, Terri, was also very nice and helpful. I had to go back Tuesday afternoon because after running errands and coming back home, my fur baby, Cookie, was hurt!! I always pick them both up and when I did, she hissed at her sister and cried out. I put them down and she was dragging her back leg. I immediately called Dr. Hanes and went back a little over an hour later. By then, Cookie was a little better, but Dr. Hanes checked her out, said nothing was broken, and she would be fine. She got some pain medicine and the next day, she was almost back to normal (not jumping quite as much, but back to playing). My fur babies and I are happy clients!

Dr. Sam is amazing! Only taking one pet at a time in the office is a god send as my boy is not always the best behaved with other animals. When he is sick he can tend to get snappy and all the staff here don't take offense, nor do they fault him for acting instinctually. Dr. Sam answered all my questions and read the ingredients on all my products to okay them before use. Hands down the best vet around.
