Darien Animal Clinic

It has been exactly one week since my dear baby fluffy passed away. Words can’t explain the amount of distress and grief I feel. My dear fluffy had been going to this vet for a while. He has also been going almost every other month for nail trimmings and expressions, mind you I pay a visiting fee each time. Dr. Gus was his doctor. He never informed me of any issues or problems. He said he was healthy just his last appointment. I rushed fluffy to the ER Wednesday of last week 1/2025. I was told the problems and the Dr asked me if his vet had ever mentioned. Dr Gus had not. The very next morning I rushed fluffy to Darien Animal Clinic. My poor baby could barely breathe and was lethargic and uncomfortable. Dr Gus had no compassion, would not look me in my eye. He Handled fluffy roughly. I picked fluffy up and I put him on the table ever so gently and I mentioned he was in pain. Dr Gus said he is not in pain. Truly no compassion. He did not do X-rays, nor give my dear fluffy pain medicine or any medicine at all. He did not tell me he may not make it through the night in fact he took advantage of me by having me purchase heart medicine. I spent almost $500, to sit in a room waiting for an hour and not being told the truth. They gave me pills knowing fluffy had not ate in a day. I feel terrible. I feel he would still be here today if I took him somewhere else. Please don’t take your pets here if you love them. They did not prepare me for what was to come that night. Fluffy was having a hard time breathing and Dr Gus just sent him on. Fluffy was sweet, gentle, playful, he loved to run and follow me around, he loved car rides and just being around people. No dog ever deserves this. And no pet parent should ever have to say goodbye the way I did. I asked Dr Gus during that visit, could this situation have been avoided. He blatantly said no. When it could have. If fluffy had received the care in which he deserved . - Protect your pets. And love them everyday.

So happy to have Dr. Gustafson as Benji’s new doctor! Benji was very anxious and scared about his vaccines and bloodwork but they worked their magic and got the job done. They are very accommodating when it comes to scheduling, they simply are pet lovers and care about our fur babies. Thank you all so much! I look forward to our next visit.

I cannot recommend this vet enough! They were absolutely wonderful, kind, and incredibly efficient in helping me with an international travel certificate for my pet. The staff was clear, organized, and such a delight to work with. We even arrived early, and they were able to see us right away without any hassle. The entire process was smooth, stress-free, and handled with the utmost care. If you’re looking for a reliable and compassionate veterinary clinic, this is the place to go. 100% recommend!

I cannot recommend this clinic enough . I wanted to move to Japan with my three cats , and it felt almost impossible. However Steve from Darien Animal Clinic made the process so smooth and easy. He is very knowledgeable, reliable, and understanding and gave a very reasonable price (unlike other animal hospitals and pet moving companies I talked to). If you're planning to take your fur baby to another country, I highly recommend this animal clinic !

I found this clinic through a Google Search as I was looking for a place in the area that issued International Health Certificates. I could not be more pleased with my experience! Moving with a pet is stressful, let alone moving internationally with a pet. Steve and the Darien Animal Clinic staff made the process so easy and simple for me! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable, and it really made the experience that much better. My pup can be a bit reactive at the vet, but the staff were very patient and gentle with her. I can’t thank the team enough! I highly recommend to anyone going through a similar process!
