I took my 16-year-old dog to CVCA for testing related to a heart murmur and other issues. Every staff member I encountered was kind and efficient and treated my dog (and me!) with the utmost care. The doctor did a fantastic job explaining everything to me in layman’s terms during and after the ultrasound. She also presented several treatment options and laid out the pros and cons of each, and I left feeling like I had a solid plan for keeping my sweet dog healthy and happy.

Welcome to CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets

Welcome to CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets, a specialized Pet Hospital located at 165 Fort Evans Rd NE in Leesburg, Virginia. As a leading center for veterinary cardiology, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets with heart conditions. Our team of board-certified veterinary cardiologists and highly trained staff are committed to offering comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to improve the heart health and overall well-being of your beloved animal companions.

At CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets, we understand the concerns that arise when your pet is diagnosed with or suspected of having a heart problem. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced cardiac diagnostic equipment to accurately assess your pet's condition. We strive to create a comfortable and reassuring environment for both you and your pet throughout the diagnostic and treatment process.

Our comprehensive range of services includes:

  • Echocardiography: This non-invasive ultrasound of the heart allows our cardiologists to visualize the heart's structure and function in real-time. It is crucial for diagnosing various heart conditions, including congenital heart defects, valve disease, and heart muscle disease.
  • Electrocardiography (ECG): This test records the electrical activity of the heart and is essential for identifying arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) and other electrical disturbances.
  • Radiography (X-rays): Chest radiographs help evaluate the size and shape of the heart and lungs, providing valuable information about the presence of fluid buildup or other abnormalities associated with heart disease.
  • Holter Monitoring: This portable ECG device records your pet's heart rhythm over an extended period, typically 24-48 hours, to detect intermittent arrhythmias that may not be apparent during a brief in-clinic ECG.
  • Blood Pressure Measurement: Monitoring blood pressure is important in managing certain heart conditions and identifying secondary hypertension.
  • Interventional Cardiology Procedures: In select cases, we offer minimally invasive procedures, such as balloon valvuloplasty or pacemaker implantation, to treat specific heart conditions.
  • Medical Management of Heart Disease: Our cardiologists develop individualized medication plans to manage heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions, focusing on improving your pet's quality of life and slowing disease progression.
  • Consultation Services: We work closely with your primary veterinarian to provide expert cardiac evaluations and develop collaborative treatment strategies.

CVCA provided superior cardiac care service to my cat (Peewee). The staff and Dr Holdt were thoughtful and explained the procedures performed on Peewee and the procedure results. Front Office staff were also courteous and professional. I highly recommend this practice

My kitty was diagnosed 3 years ago with heart disease. I have been coming to CVCA for the last 3 years. I'm always impressed by the staff, the doctors, and the faculty ! My kitty is healthy and, most importantly, alive because of CVCA. I am so grateful for the excellent care.

We had a wonderful experience. We arrived early and they got is I into the exam room several minutes before our appointment to go over our dog’s health history and reason for the appointment. Dr. Pasieka narrated everything she was seeing when conducting an EKG and ultrasound of our dog’s heart, explaining what we were looking at on the monitor. She was very calming and put us at ease. Our dog is normally anxious at vet offices, but she was pretty relaxed. We would definitely return if our dog needs to see a cardiologist again.
