Was quoted $600 to fix a female cat, I would be ashamed to even quote that. I can’t imagine how anyone could afford that for 1 cat to be fixed, I thought it was a mistake I asked her to repeat the number unreal

Cumberland Animal Hospital Introduce

Welcome to Cumberland Animal Hospital, your local Pet Hospital located at 103 Apache Ave #4105, Russell Springs, KY 42642, USA. As a Pet Hospital, we aim to provide veterinary services to the community, addressing the health and wellness needs of your animal companions. While our goal is to offer comprehensive care, it is important to consider feedback from pet owners who have utilized our services.

As a Pet Hospital, Cumberland Animal Hospital would typically offer a range of services, potentially including those related to a veterinary pharmacy for dispensing medications and preventative treatments. However, the provided reviews do not offer specific details about the environment or the full scope of services offered. Instead, they focus on individual experiences that raise certain considerations for potential clients.

Environment: Based on Patient Experiences

One review mentions a significant wait time to get into an examination room, suggesting that appointment scheduling or patient flow might be areas to consider. The reviewer noted waiting approximately 30-40 minutes just to be seen, followed by an additional hour for examination and departure. This indicates that some patients may experience longer than expected wait times during their visit.

Veterinary Services: Accuracy of Diagnosis and Procedural Policies

Feedback regarding the veterinary services includes a concern about the accuracy of diagnosis. One pet owner reported that their dog's entropion and subsequent corneal ulcer were missed by the veterinarian at Cumberland Animal Hospital but were immediately identified by a specialist. This suggests a potential variability in diagnostic acumen for certain conditions. The reviewer felt that entropion should be a condition readily recognized by a general veterinarian, especially given its impact on the pet's health.

Another significant point raised in the reviews concerns the clinic's policy regarding rabies vaccination verification before administering necessary medication. One pet owner recounted being denied medication for their dog, despite stating the dog was vaccinated, because they could not immediately provide proof. The reviewer stated this requirement was not mentioned prior to the visit. Furthermore, the reviewer expressed concern about being pressured to administer an unnecessary rabies vaccine at an additional cost to receive the needed treatment. This experience led the pet owner to describe the practice as "egregious" and resulted in a decision to dispute the charges.

Finally, one review mentioned being quoted a high price for spaying a female cat, which the reviewer found unaffordable and expressed being "ashamed" to even quote. This suggests that pricing for certain procedures might be higher compared to other options available to pet owners in the area.

Features of Cumberland Animal Hospital: As Perceived by Some Clients

Based on the limited and critical feedback, the perceived features of Cumberland Animal Hospital include:

  • Potentially Higher Pricing: At least one instance of a quoted price for a routine procedure was considered very high by a customer.
  • Longer Wait Times: One client experienced a significant delay in being seen and completing their visit.
  • Possible Diagnostic Oversight: A case was reported where a diagnosis was missed by the general veterinarian.
  • Strict Vaccination Verification Policy: Medication administration was reportedly contingent on immediate proof of rabies vaccination, potentially leading to a delay in treatment.
  • Potential for Unnecessary Upselling: A client felt pressured to administer an additional, unwarranted vaccination to receive necessary medication.
  • Nice Veterinarian: One reviewer did note that the veterinarian they saw was nice, indicating a positive aspect of the interaction, despite the diagnostic concerns.

Took my dog there to have his eye checked. It took about 30-40 minutes just to get into a room. Then to finally get examined and to leave, it took another hour. We saw the vet who was nice, but she missed the correct diagnosis as I found out later my dog had an entropion, an inner folding of the eye. While the specialist figured it out immediately, it should be something that a general vet should have picked up. This condition had given my dog a corneal ulcer, so it's clearly an important condition to have addressed. Another troubling aspect of our visit was after we saw the vet, we were asked if our dog was vaccinated against rabies. I told her that he was. They would not give us the medication he needed until they could verify he was. Never was the mentioned before the visit, which should be a mandatory question. I told her that we had gotten it but was unable to provide that at the drop of a hat and would take time. She wanted to give my dog another vaccine which is unecessary, and an additional cost that is not warranted. Needless to say, I refused and they would not give me the medicine for treatment. This is egregious medical practice and I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card company and being reimbursed.

We feel so lucky to have found this office. We bring our pup Tiki-here and from the moment we entered the door the staff is so kind. They work with the animals and proven to us that even boarding her with them is a treat. Tiki loves to visit and has no fears of going in the door! I recommend them as your next Veterinarian 🤗
