Cumberland Animal Clinic prides itself on offering a welcoming and comfortable environment for both pets and their owners. Established in 1960, the clinic's facility, notably a new 7000 sq. foot building constructed in 2014, was designed with energy efficiency in mind. It features dense GreenFiber super insulation, energy-efficient doors and windows, and a heating and cooling system comprised of five air-sourced heat pumps with energy recovery ventilators, along with a "mini-split" heat pump for separate airflow in the surgical suite. Automatic timers on all thermostats conserve energy during non-business hours. The clinic utilizes LED and energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs, motion sensors in appropriate areas, and automatic timers for exterior lights. Sky lighting in central treatment areas reduces the need for additional artificial light, and all appliances are new, energy-star rated, and highly efficient. A significant feature of their commitment to sustainability is their ground-based solar "farm," installed in 2017. This array of 160 photovoltaic panels (49.8 kW) produces approximately 66 megawatts of electricity per year, offsetting a substantial amount of carbon pollution. Beyond energy conservation, the clinic promotes and encourages recycling of paper, plastics, and packaging, striving to be a "paper-lite" practice on the road to becoming completely paperless, significantly reducing their environmental footprint. This green initiative reflects their belief that a healthy environment contributes to the optimal health of both people and pets. The clinic aims to create a family-friendly atmosphere where individualized, age-appropriate healthcare is administered with compassion.

Apr 05, 2025 · Judith EdwardsThis team is the kindest, most capable, and professional staff. I couldn’t imagine anyone else taking care of my fur babies. LVT Anja goes above and beyond for her patients and we are incredibly grateful for her care!
May 06, 2025 · Hannah WelchI called Cumberland Animal Clinic with a medical emergency—my dog was falling over and showing signs of serious distress. I specifically asked if they could see him immediately and was told they could, so I chose them over the emergency vet. That decision led to one of the most frustrating and upsetting veterinary experiences I’ve ever had.Upon arrival, my dog was taken from me and placed in a kennel outside of the exam room. I could hear him barking non-stop, clearly anxious. LVT Anja came into the room, and when I asked where my dog was, she told me he was in a kennel and I would need to drop him off—they would get to him when someone was available. I said I preferred to stay with him because of the urgency of his condition. She responded that she would ask the vet if that was allowed, and I observed what I interpreted as eye-rolling. At that time, another dog had been barking in a kennel for 15–20 minutes, further increasing my dog’s stress. When my dog was finally brought into the room, he was panting heavily and collapsed onto the floor. Anja did not get up to check on him, but continued asking questions. I said again that I wasn’t comfortable with him being put back in a kennel and that I needed to leave and take him to the emergency vet instead. Before leaving, I informed the receptionist I was leaving for more immediate care and requested a call from the owner, Lourdes Benito, to discuss the experience and my concerns about how the situation was handled. Anja acknowledged there had been a “miscommunication” and they did not, in fact, have time to see him urgently—despite what I was told on the phone.Lourdes Benito came out and, rather than expressing concern, told me to come into a room to talk. I explained that I needed to leave immediately to get my dog medical help and asked again for her to call me. She declined and said, “You can call me,” then ended the interaction by saying, “Have a good day,” and stated they would send my dog’s records. I later received a discharge letter stating I had been disrespectful. In my view, this was inaccurate—I remained focused on advocating for my dog and spoke calmly throughout. The clinic’s internal recording of our interaction (as they record all appointments) should reflect that. In my opinion, this clinic should not have accepted an urgent case if they weren’t equipped to provide urgent care. My dog left visibly traumatized, and I left feeling dismissed and unheard. I was not given a fair opportunity to voice my concerns to the owner, who, in my opinion, seemed more focused on defending the clinic than understanding my experience. A reply to this review is not necessary. I fully understand that Cumberland Animal Clinic is unlikely to accept responsibility for how this situation was handled. I asked to speak with the owner so I could share my concerns, but felt that opportunity was denied. If your pet is experiencing a true emergency, I highly recommend going directly to an emergency veterinary facility.
May 02, 2025 · Taem ArenWe've had such an amazing experience with our cats at CAC! We transferred from another vet who failed numerous times to help our cats and CAC cured them after 1 visit. They've been healthy ever since! We love Dr. Coppinger too!
