Please do not entrust your pet’s life to Dr. Youn. It’s taken me over a year to find the strength to write this, as I’m still grieving the loss of my beloved cat, Piper — a loss that I believe was entirely preventable. Dr. Youn misdiagnosed Piper’s kidney issues and prescribed a medication whose side effects ultimately led to her death. In August, he urged us to put her down — but thankfully, we didn’t listen. Despite his prognosis, Piper continued to live and fight until January. After seeking second opinions, multiple vets confirmed that it wasn’t her kidney condition that took her life — it was her reaction to the medication Dr. Youn had prescribed. One of the most baffling and disturbing moments was when Dr. Youn told us, “I usually only treat healthy animals.” You’re a veterinarian — what does that even mean? I’ve reported Dr. Youn to the veterinary board. And as I write this through tears, I can’t help but feel that if we had taken Piper to our current vet instead of Dr. Youn, she would still be with us today.

Welcome to Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital
Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital, located at 3254 Foothill Blvd in La Crescenta-Montrose, California, operates within the platform category of "Pet Hospital," providing veterinary care for animals. They can be reached at (818) 249-0022 or +1 818-249-0022. As a pet hospital, they are expected to offer a range of services related to the health and medical needs of pets. However, the publicly available information primarily consists of customer reviews that detail significantly negative experiences, which should be carefully considered by local users.
The provided reviews paint a concerning picture of Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital, particularly regarding the diagnostic abilities and the overall care provided by at least one of their veterinarians, Dr. Youn, as well as the hospital's policies on payment. One review is a deeply emotional account from someone who believes their beloved cat, Piper, died due to a misdiagnosis and a reaction to medication prescribed by Dr. Youn. The reviewer states that Dr. Youn initially misdiagnosed Piper’s kidney issues and prescribed a medication with fatal side effects. Despite Dr. Youn urging euthanasia in August, Piper survived until January after the owner sought second opinions. Multiple other vets reportedly confirmed that Piper's death was due to the reaction to Dr. Youn's prescribed medication, not her kidney condition. The reviewer also recounts a baffling statement from Dr. Youn: “I usually only treat healthy animals.” This pet owner has since reported Dr. Youn to the veterinary board and expresses deep regret at not having taken Piper to their current vet sooner, believing she would still be alive.
The second review details a distressing experience regarding the hospital's payment policies and perceived lack of care for a sick, established patient. The reviewer brought their ill cat, who was already a patient at the clinic with existing records, for treatment. When it came time to pay, the hospital allegedly refused to accept a credit card over the phone from the owner's father (who typically pays the bill) or a check from the owner present. They reportedly refused to treat the sick cat due to these payment issues, despite the cat being an established patient with a payment history. The reviewer expresses significant displeasure and states they will never return, highlighting a perceived lack of care for the animal's health in favor of immediate payment.
Given these two highly critical reviews, it is challenging to objectively describe the environment, services, or features of Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital in a positive light based solely on this information. Typically, a pet hospital should offer a clean and safe environment, a range of veterinary services, and features such as knowledgeable and caring staff. However, the provided reviews raise serious concerns about diagnostic accuracy, the conduct of at least one veterinarian, and the hospital's policies regarding payment and patient care.
Regarding services, we can infer that Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital offers medical consultations, diagnostic services (though their accuracy is questioned in one review), and prescription of medications. As a "Pet Hospital," they likely also provide general check-ups, vaccinations, and other standard veterinary care. However, the negative experiences shared raise significant doubts about the quality and reliability of these services, particularly in critical situations and regarding payment policies.
Features that a pet hospital might typically promote include experienced veterinarians, compassionate staff, and a commitment to animal welfare. While the reviews do not offer any positive insights into these aspects, they instead highlight alleged misdiagnosis, a perplexing statement from a vet, and a perceived lack of care due to payment issues. These accounts overshadow any potential positive features that might otherwise be present.
There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Given the severity of the negative feedback, it is unlikely that any standard promotional language would be appropriate or reflective of the experiences shared by these customers.
In conclusion, the available information regarding Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital in La Crescenta-Montrose, CA, is dominated by two very negative customer reviews. One details a tragic outcome allegedly due to misdiagnosis and inappropriate medication, while the other describes a refusal to treat a sick, established patient due to payment issues. These accounts raise serious concerns about the quality of care, diagnostic accuracy, and the hospital's policies. Local users considering Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital should carefully weigh this information and may want to seek additional opinions or consider alternative veterinary care providers based on these deeply concerning experiences. You can contact Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital at the provided phone number, but it is essential to be aware of the significant negative feedback available publicly.

Apr 08, 2025 · Greg PfefferI have used this vet for my cat and they are her vet. Today I went in as she was ill. My father travels and always pays the bill. He offered to call in credit card or I could write check. They refused either and would not take care of my sick cat!!! The lack of caring about my cat that was already established with them and her records show he is one pays the bill shows they do not care about her health!! Very displeased and will never return
Feb 14, 2025 · Elaine katherineWe just recently got a pug puppy and brought him in for a check up. Turned out he had the Parvo Virus. The entire staff were worried for him and immediately started treatment. They told us 50/50 chance of surviving it. He also had a parasite in his stomach. We are so blessed and thankful for the entire staff they gave us all the info on how to treat him at home. 2nd and 3rd day was really rough but after the 4th day we all saw improvement. We had to sirenge feed our puppy and sirenge water constantly. He is now a week through finding out and is recovering 100% and gaining weight. Thank you to the staff forever in debt.

Jan 22, 2020 · Michelle AmadorIt was comfortable and they wanted to do a lot of testing but I opted out of that until necessary. I got nails trimmed and they filled his medicine. It was affordable that day. It was my first time there. They did a good job for us.
